Great vlog, and I love that you made it to St Fagans! Most of the Cardiff vlogs usually only show the city centre and the bay so it’s great you were able to go and see it. Unfortunately, I think Germany outdoes us for the most castles. We do however have the most per square mile! Hopefully you can make it to Castell Coach and Caerphilly Castle (both close by) next time.
Thank you so much for the kind words Andrew!! I think the thing we realized most from our time there is that we really only BARELY scratched the surface of Wales as a whole. Cardiff was such an awesome city & we loved our time there so much, ESPECIALLY lunch/beers at Tiny Rebel. I would say our only regret about Cardiff is that we weren't able to make it down to the bay at night time (although we stayed in Whitchurch, so we got see where one of my favorite footballers grew up!). We're hoping to come back to Wales at some point to explore Pembrokeshire, Snowdonia, & Swansea. We absolutely loved it & can't wait for our next visit in the hopefully near future. Thank you so much for watching our vlog!!!!
@@ProbablyLost no way, I’m from Whitchurch! Where did you stay? I can only assume you’re referring to Gareth Bale also?! Cardiff has plenty more, but given you haven’t seen Swansea, Snowdonia and Pembrokeshire, I’d definitely do those first. Plus, you’ll get to see more castles!
Such a small world!!! We stayed in a small Airbnb on Manor Way, which made for the perfect short walk almost every night to get some food at New Empire. And yes! I love Gareth Bale & honestly had no idea he was from their until we saw his mural by St. Mary's Parish Church. We absolutely loved our time there & our only regret is that we didn't get a bit more time in the area!!
@@ProbablyLost love New Empire. Hopefully next time you’ll be able to explore Whitchurch as a whole too. The village offers so much! I grew up on church road, with the mural (went up in 2016) and still go home frequently (currently live in St Paul, MN), so it’s warming to know you’ve been there. It’ll be worth the wait when you go back!
Lol! Ya'll make me laugh!! Beautiful scenery and the food, aaawwww you were making me hungry. Looked delicious! Yay, Trey.... you climber the mountain! 🎉
This was SUCH a fun video to film! Cardiff definitely had so much more than we anticipated originally. AND YES HE DID!!! I'M SO PROUD OF HIM!!!!! Although I've now promised him that we'll stop doing so many things that involve heights🤣
In a very short time you have shown more than some vlogs, (some as interesting but from different perspectives). Cardiff is a small capital city, and yet the visitor would need perhaps 3 or 4 days to see all of central Cardiff and the Bay, but I know time is tight for many visitors. The Civic Centre houses the National Museum of Wales. Well worth a visit, and it´s free too. So good that you managed to reach St Fagan´s Castle, a feature of suburban Cardiff that other vloggers seem to miss. You also managed to get in a whole arcade, another feature many vloggers miss. Castle Arcade is a wonderful example of Edwardian Cardiff. Thanks for an excellent vlog. COME BACK! Do some more. You will be most welcome. Diolch yn fawr.
Wow Leigh, we cannot thank you enough for the kind words!! We absolutely LOVED our time in Cardiff. We often talk about how much we miss the area as a whole. In all honesty we can't wait to return and see the entirety of Wales. You have such an awesome home & we look forward to returning in the future!!! Thanks again so much for watching!!!
@@ProbablyLost Wherever you are, have the best time; I'm certain you are. Your enthusiasm is wonderful. Do you hope you return and get to see more of Cardiff, even if you don't do any recordings. I'm sure you will. Best wishes!
Another amazing video! Trey I know your struggle! Lol when we visit the mountains, my wife is climbing all over the place and sitting close to the edge and I'm way back squatting or clinging to a tree. Also if you were still near that Bakery. Id pay you to ship me one of those doughnuts. Lol jk. Keep up the good work!
LOL thank you Eric!!! Hannah DEFINITELY loves to do the same thing, and she'll ask me to take a picture of her too! I really don't know how I keep finding myself in these height situations lol. The bakery was INCREDIBLE though! It's hard to find baked goods that taste like they'd just come out of the oven but these definitely did. We'll be dreaming about this place for awhile!! Thank you so much for tuning in & being such a great supporter of us!!!
Great City. Pity you never had time to visit Mount Snowden, the highest mountain in Wales. Tenby which is beautiful and Castel Coch which is right out of a fairy tale. Great Vlog 👍
Thank you so much!! We feel like we only scratched the surface on Wales, which is good because we definitely feel like we have to go back! Pembrokeshire & Snowdonia look like absolute dreams to explore. Thank you for the recommendations!!!
Thank you Mike!! Our only regret is not spending more time here. Snowdonia, Swansea, & Pembrokeshire are just a few things we feel like we have to come back and see. Enjoy Montenegro & if you stop in Kotor, make sure to grab lunch/dinner at Delicious Burger and tell them we say hi!!!!
@@ProbablyLost here now. Was looking for it but couldn’t find it. I will find it though. One thing on your visit to Pen y Fan though: not sure if it is Pen y Fan that you were on. I remember that there are two peaks but Pen y Fan has a bit of a stone wall that you can climb up on for a picture. I was confused when I was up there and could have easily got to the wrong one.
Very well done for doing your research before filming, to many vlogers film and wonder what they are filming, that means the viewer is left with no information on the vlog . !!! Great...
Thank you so much for the kind words Roger!! That's exactly what we're going for with our channel. We aren't experts or anything & most of the time we're experiencing these places for the first time along with viewers, but we also like to make sure to do our homework so that we can give viewers a bit more context behind the places we're visiting. Again, thank you so much for the kind words & for taking the time to watch our vlog!!!
Cardiff Castle's origins are actually Roman. Looking at the castle wall from Duke Street, remains of the original Roman wall are still visible. Some have theorised that Cardiff (Welsh Caerdydd) may have got its name from a Roman general Didius who was stationed there. The castle's keep was built by the Normans. The walls which you see today surrounding the castle, plus the clock tower and other parts were rebuilt during the height of the Industrial Revolution by the Marquess of Bute, a coal tycoon who was reputedly the richest man in the world at the time. If you go into St Davids Shopping Centre near St John's church on the Hayes, there is a marker in the floor showing where the original mediaeval town wall was (see John Speed's 1610 map of Cardiff).
See, this is information that we LOVE to have in our comments section. We had no idea about this, but hopefully people who make it to Cardiff will see this before arriving. As Americans, it always blew us away how far back history goes in Europe. It's one of our favorite things about the continent & adds such an element of mystique to it. Thank you so much for taking the time to watch our video & leave us a comment about this!!!
I get bambi legs no matter the heights, but this one wasn't TOOOO bad. I just need to make sure the drone does all the heavy lifting on the heights scenes so I don't have to. I'm getting so tired of not being at sea level all the time lol
We got pretty lucky with the weather while we were there, but have NO DOUBT it gets really wet there. We can't wait to get back to se more of Wales in the next year or so! Thank you so much for taking the time to watch our video Rhys!!
thanks for the video!! I'm going to travel to cardiff very soon, one question I'm going to travel from the airport to the center by bus, to save me some money.... do you know which one it is? What transport did you do from the airport to the center? Thanks.
Hi Edu!! Thanks for watching! So we had a small rental car throughout our journey in the UK, so we didn't make the journey from the airport to the city center. HOWEVER, Cardiff had some pretty FANTASTIC public transportation. I remember seeing a 'Transport for Wales' line that I believe runs along a route that would get you from the airport to the center of town. We took a similar route to that when we went into town once and it was only a few pounds so not too expensive either. Enjoy your time there and make sure to stop at Friends In Knead in the Castle Arcade for some great pastries!!!
Oh no!!!😅 I guess that just means next time we come back, we'll have to have a guide or something with us LOL! Cardiff is such a cool city. We've heard awesome things about the football club as well as some of the surrounding areas too so we can't wait to get back there & explore a lot more of it. It really is such a beautiful city. Thank you so much for taking the time to watch our video Paula!!❤️
There’s a plaque on top of Pen y fan, lol, Also Caerphilly castle is 5 miles outside Cardiff, the 2nd largest Castle in Europe, only Windsor castle is bigger, glad you had a great trip.
PEN Y FAN is the 20th? highest peak in Wales - Im so glad you enjoyed our Country. But i think you missed just how "Not in England" you were. Yma O hyd
Hi Dave!! I know there are MUCH taller peaks up in the Northern part of Wales so that's why we said it was the tallest in Southern Wales. You're definitely right though!! Wales is VERY MUCH different from England & we absolutely loved every second of our time there. We're already planning to make a trip back to Wales so that we can do a road trip of some kind specifically on your beautiful country!! Thank you so much for watching!!😊

@7:20 Pen y Fan is not Wales' highest mountain. That is Yr Wyddfa/Snowdon which is 200 meters higher.
I assume it’s a mile marker from the 1800s, yes. Watching this from Podgorica (caught your video on it). Glad you’re liking my home country!

Maybe a bit late with this info but there is railway station at the airport. 1 train an hour and it costs £5.
There is a regular bus service from the airport to Cardiff.
