Thank you for sharing. That was a great video. Unfortunately I have been diagnosed with a Pulmonary Embolism and DVT very recently. And I am very fortunate and thankful to be alive. I'm a 46 year old male and caught Covid a few weeks ago. And when I finally started recovering from that, my left foot became very swollen and I collapsed at home. Thankfully my family was at home and heard me fall and contacted the Emergency Services within minutes of me collapsing. Once the paramedics came, they checked my pulse and found that my blood pressure was quite low, but my heart rate was higher than normal. And when I went into the ambulance, even getting to the ambulance from outside our home was tiring and I was really out of breath when I got into it. This wasn't like me and I was confused as to why this was happening. I felt very drowsy and tired, fatigued and out of breath. My breathing eventually settled down in the ambulance. The paramedic initially thought that I was weaker and tired due to my recent Covid infection. When we reached the hospital, the A&E staff did a series of blood tests, checked my swollen foot and also measured the girth of both my legs, whereby the girth of my left leg with my very swollen foot was larger than my right leg. I was advised that the doctors believed that I had two blood clots. One which was in my left leg (DVT) and a much larger one had broken off and travelled into my lung (Pulmonary Embolism). And that is why I had fainted at home and why my heart rate was higher. An X-ray was also done which showed no issues. I was then put on blood thinners via an injection into stomach and also blood thinning tablets and my heart rate started to stabilise. The next day a CT scan of my chest confirmed a large pulmonary embolism blood clot in my lung artery. And the doctor believed that there was also one in my left leg due to DVT. The doctor advised that the blood thinners had started to work and I had not fainted again as a result. I stayed in hospital for 4 days altogether and was discharged once my symptoms stabilised and have now been put on Apixaban blood thinning tablets for 6 months. With my family's great care and support and also the amazing help from all NHS staff, I am now on the slow road to recovery. I hope that my experience can help someone and if you have any similar symptoms, please contact the emergency services as possible.
Great video on a subject that doesn't get much coverage. All the best on your recovery, I'm 2 years down the line, and it does get easier and your video will help others, especially those in the early stages like yourself, of how things pan out in the initial recovery period.
I just had a hip replacement, I will be 55 in December, I have lost count of how many surgeries I have had with no problems, however, this was the first one due to traumatic injury. I believe something like the injuries make it more common to get one. I am just a week out from getting out of the Hospital so I am afraid still. Thank you for your video!! Most people don't ever have to think about this and we definitely have to raise awareness. God Bless you and I pray for All who are healing from this. ❤️
Bethany Davis hope you bounce back soon! Took me 12 months to recover fully and back to my old self. I’m back running faster time than before and both lungs recovered....the first 6 months were hard. The next 6 months was just battling fatigue...after that, I’m all good. Still taking Xeralto blood thinners but other than that, my body recovered. Everybody recovers at different speeds though so just take it easy and recover slow. I should make an update video 12 months on! Take care and recover well 😁👍
Thank you for sharing your video. You are a Survivor! I am grateful to have survived huge, continuous blood clots in both legs from ankles to my abdomen that moved into my lungs. My organs were shutting down. My newborn daughter wasn't a month old yet. I am thankful for each day I awake.
Hi hope your better I’ve been on blood thinners for a month thank god I’m felling better but recently getting chest pains is that normal?? I’m getting this checked as the breathing got better now my left side fells pressure on there. Please get back me thanks
My niece was sent home from a and e with blood thinners anda painfull swollen leg after waiting 10 hours but died during the night saying she couln;t breath.
Hello, I had PE the weekend just gone. Scared the living daylights out of me. Did you have another or what have you dine since...I know it's been five years, but I am worried
Great looking product, shame it had to come to this, I was involved in a collision today, and I could've done with a camera, on the way to order one. Ps I suffered a pulmonary embolism 4 years ago, I'm just getting back to normal, can I give you a bit of advice? Take your time, it does get better, all the best
Rob Sabor thank you Rob, I’m recovering well, just tiredness to contend with. My lungs are getting stronger every week. Not a great experience to have to go through but also thankful...could have been a whole lot worse. Hope you are good now & Clot Free 👍😁🤞 and thank you for the advice, appreciate it! Best regards Paul
So I have had multiple DVT's and PE's since 2005. You want to get yourself checked for a clotting disorder. I have Factor V Leiden which is the main one that causes this. Up to 5% of us have genes that may lead to this.
Hey guys im ashamed to say i am an ex iv drug user, i actually had a needle tip break off in vein... Freaked out completely but had to go to work and ignored it
Hey Mrchilltech. Thanks for the video. I just turned 60 and missed my daughter's surprise birthday for me because I was in the hospital with multiple PE's in both lungs. Can you tell me how long it took you to get back your wind and running again full-time? Thanks again Francisco out in Cali
Sorry to hear this - took me 3 months before I started exercising again (after heart checks) and another 3-6 months to get back to decent running times (21min Park-Run) HOWEVER, took souch out of me and was physically tired for 12 months. I still suffer from the lung damage but thankfully, my years of running has helped the recovery and helped me keep running , football etc. Good luck on your recovery and listen to your body, everybody's recovery is different.
Good to hear that you are back at it . I was going to do the Camino Santiago in May but I'm now hoping to do it in September 2024. Best advice as you say is "listen to your body" I appreciate the info and Cheers to your health!
No reason given and they could not find a cause other than I had been taking part in a 24hr Team MTB event and then a 13 Mile fell run a couple of weeks later. The clot looking back happened post MTB Event and clots released and travelled to my lungs during and post 13 Mile fell run. 5 Years on, I'm still on the DOAC Blood thinners to ensure it doesn't happen again.
I'm good - exactly 2 years ago now and although I'm on Xeralto still, I've fully recovered...took me 12 months to feel 100% again. I'll upload another video just discussing my journey. Take it easy and you'll get tired quickly (took me 12 months to recover from the tiredness). Good luck in your journey! 😍👍👍👍
@@chillitechnology yes please do an updated video! I just had more testing done to make sure I don't have autoimmune issues.. they were normal.. nervous to be on thinners for life still.. may go to lower dose 10mg xarelto in a month!
@@chillitechnologyI am an American and lived in the UK, Littlehampton, West Sussex for about 3 years, what's weird is I got so used to the posh accent that I couldn't even hear any accents anymore. hospital piss me off, they keep you for hours and do absolutely nothing but annoy you, wasting your time instead of getting you the treatment you need to get you out of there- it's not about the people it's about them keeping you there to collect more and more money off your insurance while u WAIT for nothing for numerous hours...
