This is good. Thanks gor documenting your recovery. All of us are here for the same reason... When will "THIS" get BETTER!!
Im 4 days out of the hospital, 6 days post op leg thromb surgery. Have p.e. in each lung. On injections 2 times a day in the stomach. Supposed to be best. Take it if its offered, im reading it increases survival rate at 30, 60 and 6 months!.
Started as pneumonia, then extreme exhaustion and quick shortness of breath with minimal walking ( to bathroom and back to bed). After 10 days and round of antibiotics, Exhaustion worsened and my left leg swelled. Obviously i was in trouble. Straight to e.r. and was quickly diagnosed via a CT scan. Please note doc stated blood clots do not show up in x-rays. Ill note had severe back pain. Lung dic stated that is classic p.e. symptom. As i read in comments this battle is both physical and mental!! I was asked 3 times randomly if i had thoughts of taking my own life. Now i understand why. The Exhaustion frim this is the worst! Its going to be a fight to get our lives back!
Im focusing on very small daily goals to indiacte I'm progressing. Bought a cheap pulse / oximeter off Amazon. Noticed very high heart rate with shortness of breath coming back from bathroom, however my blood oxygen was normal at 97 - 98. Very strange. Another thing i came across is resting heart rate during this healing. If we can get our resting heart rate under 80 before the 30 day mark, we are in a better recovery demographic than those over 90, then those over 110.
Im guessing exercise and walking as soon as doc approved... But definitely ask them. Long road back i have accepted that as reality!
Stay closevto your loved ones, appreciate all that is being done for you. Make your peace with your Creator just in case we become a statistic!
I wish you all well on this journey and that we all can make it back to a normal life again!!
    Peace!!

Hi, my dad coughed up his PE. I was about 9yo, what helped him use his lungs better was singing exercises. You may also find changes in altitude will affect you. But keep exercising, use all your lungs down to your waistband and you will heal better. Keep at it.......

Thank you! I love my Snowboarding so hoping I can cope with altitude this next Winter Season. My lungs are slowly improving, I've knocked 5 minutes from my 1st to 3rd Park Run already and I came 8th overall this weekend followed by a few games of football with the local team. I get out of breath quicker but recover quickly also....as you say, I'm just keeping at it and exercising the lungs as much as I can! Hope your dad fully recovered :)

you cannot cough up a PE. PEs are in the pulmonary arterial vessels, and coughing only expectorates material from your airways. Bloody cough is a common occurrence, but it is not the embolus/emboli

Wonder if you monitor your videos, if so any update on how you're getting on now? I got covid about 2 months back, they think that's what caused my pe's, they say i had two large pe one in each lung with multiple other small pe's lower down. I've been having breathing problems for years, but feel a 1000x better now, that said, only 2 weeks out of a&e and I walked uphill for about a third of a mile and was completely unable to breathe properly, took about 20 minutes to get my breath back and not feel like I was about to faint.
Anyhow, would be good to hear how you got on after 6 months, a year.. etc..

andrew hurd glad you’re doing well Andrew! It’s taken me a full 12 months to feel “normal”. I was back running mid last year, was hitting 21mins Park Run but was exhausted afterwards and my lungs were struggling. I’m now hitting personal best times I didn’t before, marked my 12 month clot anniversary by tacking the 10 mile fell run where it all began last year (did ok!) and finally, I’m no longer exhausted at the end of the day. It’s taken me 12 months to get there but everybody is different. Good luck on your journey, sounds like you’re doing fantastic - keep it up and hope your recovery is a quick one 😁👍

CT scan proved the Embolism. Got it from Post Covid from being on a plane and the pressure difference caused lung to fail. it very common in post covid cases.....i am a triathlete.....recovery is taking small steps and increasing every month. depends on your heath history and if you drink and smoke....

Jason Scott took me about 6 weeks to start running (slowly) post check-up for my heart etc, the first 3 months were tough, out of breath and super tired afterwards. 3-9 months after I was running better times than I did before - just wiped me out physically afterwards. 12 months after and I was fully over it all - back to my normal self, running, cycling, MTB physically and mentally. I'm still on Xeralto blood thinners but all the paranoia and stress has gone. Everyone is different, it normally takes 12-24 months. Just be patient....listen to your body, expect to be super tired post exercise coming back and ease back gently. I joined a FB group "Running after a Pulmonary Embolism " which helped massively. Good luck in your journey....you'll bounce back but be patient 😀 (I wasn't and it is frustrating!)
