Judas Priest has over 200 songs in their discography including many of well known hits and - to honor Gelnn Tipton on his birthday - Metallica picked a song that's not even belong to Judas Priest, Priest just did cover of this song lol
All those Metallica (Fake Metal fans) are just standing there without recognising "the green manalishi". Come on guys, that's a fucking classic metal tune every metalhead knows. Nobody in this crowd knows shit about the real metal world Like Priest, Maiden, Saxon, Megadeth, iced Earth, accept and all those great bands.
@ 0:50 - I expected a BIGGER POP for Glenn Tipton! Oh well, most of the Humanoids in the audience weren't even BORN when Priest COVERED "Green Manalishi".
This is a great example of why Judas Priest is a massively superior band and why Metallica frankly is lame. Hopefully this inspired at least a few pop metal fans to check out the Priest version of this cover and were inspired to check out more of the Priest's catalog.
Jim Bright It would be nice but don't hold your breath. Considering how pretty much no one in the audience seem to know or care who Glenn Tipton is and why half of Metallica is doing a tribute to Glenn with a song Judas Priest covered. Priest did a great cover of the Fleetwood Mac Peter Green hit. Admittedly. But this Kirk/Robert cover of Priest's cover is not much of a tribute to Glenn Tipton, particularly. And with Kirk singing? Nobody cared. And that seems saddest of all.
They’re just showing a little respect to Priest/ Tipton. No reason to give them shit about it. They’ve sold more records and played more shows than just about anybody and they’re still pretty humble about it. Don’t know why anyone would choose to pick this to complain about …. Really.
Metallica has been doing this for a while. Look up Metallica Jozin z Bazin and every other doodle after that. Theyre doing it for fun(or at least that's what it looks like)
The drums on this song aren't exactly Neil Peart-like - Lars could easily play it. This is one of Kirk and Rob's "Doodles" (i.e. loose jams) that they often do live.
Don't get most of these BS comments. Metallica can say or do whatever song they please and any rendition of any kind is honorable to them and to JP. I've been a Priest fan over 35 years and they played one of mine and JP's favorite songs cover or not. Hater's and pretend musicians can all STFU immediately.
Mark Anderson I've been a Judas Priest fan since first hearing Stained Class in the 70's while I was in high school. So I've been a Priest fan for at least 40 years now myself. Been a Metallica fan since Kill 'em All. Priest did a great cover of that Peter Green/Fleetwood Mac song, arguably even better than Fleetwood Mac did it. That said, it seems to me, Kirk and Robert could have at least picked a song Glenn Tipton actually wrote for their tribute to Glenn Tipton. (And I've played in several bands that played Judas Priest songs, including this particular cover, and I've sang it as well, just in case you might think I might be a pretend musician.) I said this elsewhere but this is not unlike Ann Wilson covering the Don Henley penned and sung "Life In The Fast Lane" for her tribute to the late Glenn Frey on her album Immortal. Because, obviously, Glenn Frey had zero hits with The Eagles and certainly had zero hits during his solo career days, too. Metallica has done many great covers, especially on their Garage Inc. Album. This is not particularly awesome. Just saying. Then again, maybe it would have sucked a bit less if the rest of Metallica had bothered to join Kirk and Robert and if James had sung the cover of the cover instead. But that's my opinion only. Your mileage may vary.
No offense but watching this made me flashback to when I was a kid in a band. People pay a shit ton of money to see a show and these Bozos are acting like they are in a garage.
ManOwaR \m/ glad I saw Judas Priest in September. 6th row center stage.... Puts Metallica to shame. Don't get me wrong, I like Metallica until the Black album and the Napster controversy.
Metallica has been doing this for a while. Look up Metallica Jozin z Bazin and every other doodle after that. Theyre doing it for fun(or at least that's what it looks like)
Michael Stone It sounds like the bass line from For The Love of Money because it is. Big hit by the O'Jays that Bulletboys did a nice hard rock cover of on their debut album back in the 80's. Worth a listen if you haven't heard it. Was hoping Kirk would pick up on it and play along but that seemed too much to expect. Besides, with half the band on their lunch break or coffee break or whatever, I guess this is all we can expect.
I was talking about Rob Trujillo, obviously. Kirk isn't even a lead singer. And Load, Reload and Death Magnetic had quite a few good songs, and so does the new album. Hell, even Death Magnetic had some good stuff - the terrible snare sound and lack of guitar solos just ruined it.
If they wanted to “honor” Glenn, they could’ve played, say, a Priest song, say 🤔, Breaking the Law or Living After Midnight... they’re quite famous, you know... pathetic
Where is the Band ??? This is peculiar. I saw them 7 times in the late 80’s and through the nineties when Jason Newstead was base. Their shows were loud and intense. No weird breaks.
Another god awful Meatlica cover of a FLEETWOOD MAC song (do they even know that?) for Tipton's bday no less. Any other cheesy/trivial numbers? (was rhetorical)

What a crap version of the great Peter Green Fleetwood Mac. I'll never understand the hype of Metallica. They can play only with full distortion. If they play covers you here they can't play normal. And a very poor drummer. Lars.

It's the first Priest song I ever hear, back in 1981, and I still love it.
Take it from where it comes..
So true. Idgits.
They played a shitty version of it lol, and hammet has the guitar that played the original song and dont even used it
Made my day. Happy Birthday Mr. Tipton
glen got it a lot better from metallica than from the rock n roll hall of shame!!!

Glenn💝 thank u guys very sweet
Those fans probably didnt even know that was Green Manalishi. Sad.
I love the way kirk play that solo..
No Surrender 🤘🏼🤘🏼
So they're playing a Fleetwood Mac song, and Kirk didn't even bring out Peter Green's old Les Paul for it?
Absolute disgrace what they've done here he should know better
It wasn't Peter 's birthday. Besides Priest's cover takes it to the next level
I wouldn’t bring
that guitar on the toad. Literally one of the most valuable guitars in the planet.
The Judas Priest version was actually a cover of a Fleetwood Mac song
Celebrate Glen with a Fleetwood Mac tune..... Guess "Living After Midnight" was to hard to play.
For Lars.. It was!!
Yeah but Glenn did that song justice! Two of my all time favorites, Glen Tipton and Kirk Hammett 🤘🏼
They meant "Happy birthday Peter Green" !
Could of played a Priest song not a cover.
True, this is actually a Fleetwood Mac song!!

Kirk singing??? Wtf lol I need to hear more of this
That's what the video shows. So yeah!
listen to his traffic school song!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Outstanding.
thanks for the bday wish to my Cousin
What's ironic is Kirk didn't play Peter greens les paul
Should have done Beyond the Realms of Death.
Or Victim of Changes
Painkiller. I'm sure Kirk could sing it. Not.
Glad Lars isn't playing
Or anything else off of Stained Class, but then...I don't think they've got the talent for it.
Yeah I'm sure that's in Kirk's vocal range..LOL.. Maybe they should do THE SENTINEL
They butchered their own songs live for the last 20 years and now they butcher other peoples songs. Please stop!
Happy belated bday Glenn!!!
Kirk Hammet singing … has to be a first.
He actually sings a lot of backup vocals live.
Sounds like Mustaine.
It wasn't bad
You just never used to be able hear him with Jason doing backing Vox at the same time .
I guess Lars can’t play it. I used to love when they used to do covers. But it sounds weird with half the band doing it
