What I love being catholic, the church doesn't to judge other people... doesn't not teach to debate with other churches but pray to God for them instead... remember and this was told by God, 'you don't know all the Heavenly Things'... from this, then why should we judge? We are all imperfect... God said to love one another as much as He loved us... God can even forgive criminals, drug addicts, etc. as long as they repent wholeheartedly... if we follow and obey His laws, in that way we could love God the most... even we are not perfect.

      1 Corinthians 14:33 ESV
For God is not a God of confusion but of peace. As in all the churches of the saints,
      Psalm 119:11 ESV
I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.
Jesus never said to return to the verbal traditional teachings of rabbis and Moses. He would always Harkin back to the teachings of the Torah with the phrase “it is written” contrasted, with “you have heard it said. “
      Matthew 4:4 ESV
But he answered, "It is written, "'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.'"
Scripture is absolutely central outside of church, tradition, ceremony, or action. Scripture is ALWAYS first.

Greetings to all! Life long Pentecostal here. Born into it and raised heavily in that church’s theology/doctrine. However, I came across these Tim Staples videos a few days ago and find them highly fascinating. However, there was something Mr. Staples mentioned that I was hoping a Catholic could explain to me, please.
He mentions a Bishop walking in the room settling a scripture debate would be the same as our Lord walking in and doing it. Respectfully, because I am genuinely curios to learn, why is this so? Apostolic succession? Would his interpretation be novel or something already debated and dialogued at prior councils?
If novel, does apostolic succession give him the anointing to make that type of definitive call?
    Thank you and God bless!

➨ The Bible ITSELF Contradicts Luther's doctrine of "scripture alone" (solascriptura) The Bible tells us that the authority is THE CHURCH: ...
    ● 1 TIMOTHY 3:15 The pillar & foundation of TRUTH is the CHURCH.
    ● EPHESIANS 3:10 10 His intent was that now, THROUGH THE CHURCH, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms,
    ● 2 THESS 2:15 We are to hold fast to the TRADITIONS we have been given, either by WORD OF MOUTH or by the letter.
    ● 1 COR 11:2 I commend you because you remember me in everything, and maintain the TRADITIONS even as I have delivered them to you.
    ● JOHN 21:25 Jesus said & did Many other things that are too numerous to be recorded in writing.
    ● HEB 13:17 Obey the eldars in the CHURCH.
    ● MATT 18:15-17
15 Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.
16 But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.
17 And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto THE CHURCH: but IF HE NEGLECTS TO HEARTHE CHURCH let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.
The True Church is a TEACHING Church: (to Teach means to impart knowledge that is not presently know....not in writing)
    ● JOHN 14:26-31
26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall TEACH you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
(To TEACH is to impart knowledge that is not presently known....not in writing)
    ● ACTS 8:31: And he said, HOW CAN I, (understand scripture) EXCEPT SOMEONE SHOULD GUIDE ME? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.
(The scriptures are not for individual interpretation. They need the guidance of the CHURCH. It is PROTESTANTS who are following the doctrines of a man.)
    nnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
Luther's doctrine of "Faith alone" is ALSO False:
➨ WORKS, PENANCE, & PURGATORY (All copied from the protestant version of the Bible by me)
    ➨WORKS:
    ● REV 20:12...The dead are judged BY THEIR WORKS.
    ● JAMES 2:18 Faith without works is dead
    ● MATTEW 19:17 Jesus tells us if we want to enter into Life, we must keep the commandments.
    ● MATTHEW 5:16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your GOOD DEEDSand glorify your Father in heaven.
    ● JAMES 2:24 A man is justified by works, and not by faith only.
    ● ROMANS 2:6 He will judge everyone ACCORDING TO WHAT THEY HAVE DONE.
    ● ROMANS 2:13
13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.
    ● MATTHEW 7:21 Not everyone who says to me: "Lord Lord will enter into the kingdom of heaven but only those WHO DO THE WILL OF MY FATHER.
    ● PHILIPPIANS 2:12-13 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, WORK OUT YOUR OWN SALVATION WITH FEAR AND TREMBLING; 13 for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.
    ● MATT 25:35-40 JESUS tells us to feed the hungry & clothe the naked (good works). He further warns us that those who do NOT will be sent away into the eternal fire., but those who do these WORKS will enter the Kingdom of Heaven.
    ● LUKE 16:19-30 The story of Lazarus and the rich man shows us that the rich man went to hell for refusing to help Lazarus who was poor and hungry. (He refused to do good works)
    ● TITUS 3:14 KJV And let our's also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful.
    ● EPHESIANS 2:8-11 (KJV) Protestants "prove" their false doctrine of "faith alone" By quoting EPH 2:8-9 and they STOP before they get to number 10:
8 For by GRACE are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. (most protestants stop here instead of continuing on to 10):
➨ 10 FOR WE ARE GOD'S WORKMANSHIP, CREATED IN CHRIST JESUS UNTO GOOD WORKS, WHICH GOD HAS BEFORE ORDAINED, THAT WE SHOULD WALK IN THEM.
    ● 1 COR 9:27 (KJV) (Paul speaking) But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a cast away.
    ● MATT 12:36-37
36 But I say unto you, That every idle WORD THAT MEN SHALL SOEAK, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
37 For BY THY WORDS THOU SHALL BE JUSTIFIED, and BY THY WORDS THOU SHALL BE CONDEMNED.
    (not by yout faith alone)
➨PENENCE: Protestants reject the idea that they must do "penence" (attempt to make up for the sins they have committed) ● Luke 19:8. Zacchaeus told Jesus if he has cheated anyone, he will repay them 4 times over.
    ● Mark 2:20 Jesus said (regarding his disciples): The days are coming when the Bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast.
    ● Matthew 6:16 When you fast, do not look dismal, like the hypocrits do
    ● Acts 26:20 RSV but declared first to those at Damascus, then at Jerusalem and throughout all the country of Judea, and also to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God and perform deeds worthy of their repentance.
    ● Acts 2:38-40: Do Penance and be baptized everyone of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins and you shall recieve the gift of the Holy Spirit. For this promise is to you AND YOUR CHILDREN, and to all who are far off who the Lord our God shall call.
    ➨PURGATORY:.
    ● 2 TIMOTHY 1: 16-18. Paul prays for the dead Onesiphorus.
    ● 1 PETER 4:6 The gospel was preached to the dead.
    ● 1 PETER 3:19 , Peter says that after the crucifixion and death of Jesus, that Jesus "went to speak to the spirits in prison", which means that there is a place people go to after they die that is a prison and not heaven nor hell.
    ● MATT 12:32 Whoever speaks a word against the son of man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will Not be forgiven, either in this world, nor in the "world to come" This implies that some sins are forgiven in the "world to come" (purgatory)
    ● also 1 COR 3:12-15 & more in the Catholic Bible: (2 Mace 12:46). “It is a holy and wholesome thought to pray for the dead, that they might be loosed from their sins”
    1 Peter 1:17

The Church is not the authority. God is the authority. Even with all of these verses used out of context, the argument for the church to have the authority is not seen. Just look where Jesus was asked where His authority came from. Simple text search or google if not familiar. I love you all and mean this with love. God is the authority not man. If one carefully reads 2 timothy 3:17 we find the New Testament Scriptures are enough .... "that the man of God may be complete, furnished completely unto every good work." exartizó = "furnished completely" for "every" good work. That the New testament Scriptures are included here in this passage is confirmed in 2 Timothy 3:15 where St Paul makes reference to the wisdom that the Scriptures provide concerning salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. The Old Testament only gives us shadows and types of the coming Messiah. Only in the New Testament do we have his name manifested. Jesus.
2 timothy 3:17 makes it perfectly clear that the man of God has been furnished completely through the Scriptures (Old Testament and New Testament) for EVERY GOOD WORK. St. Paul does say that the man of God has been “partially furnish” … or “somewhat furnished,” but rather the man of God has been exartizó = "furnished completely" for "every" good work through the Scriptures of the 1st century.
Likewise, Jesus told His Apostles that He would send them the Spirit of Truth, who would guide them in ALL TRUTH, (See John `16:13). Hence, the 1st century Apostles of Jesus were guided by the Spirit of Truth into ALL TRUTH as related to the faith. Jesus never promised His Apostles that New Revelations of Truth (that is, later traditions) would come centuries later through the Roman Catholic Church.
Of course the following Scripture is the corker that slams the door on the traditions of the Romans Catholic Church:
Jude wrote the following inspired Words: “... earnestly contend for the Faith that was ONCE FOR ALL DELIVERED UNTO THE SAINTS.” Jude 1:3 makes it clear that the Christians Faith-the body of Christian Doctrines necessary for obtaining life and godliness-was completed and delivered unto the Saints of the Church before the end of the 1st century.
And guess what? Our dear Apostle Peter echoes this same sentiment in 2 Peter 1:3, 4 when he writes:
“His divine power HAS GRANTED to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he HAS GRANTED to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature …” (2 Peter 1:3, 4)
St. Peter makes it clear to his readers of the 1st century Church, that God “HAS GRANTED” (past perfect tense) everything they need to experience life, godliness, and the divine nature.
Neither St. Peter nor any of the other Apostles ever stated that there would be subsequent writings, traditions or revelations that would enable us to experience life, godliness, and the divine nature. No, the writings of 2 Peter 1:3, 4 both declare and confirm the writings of our brother Jude who makes it clear that the Faith of the Church has “once for all been delivered (past tense) to the Saints” of the 1st Century.

Teaching, reproving, quoting, reading scriptures is not authority. 2 TIM 3:16 just states that ALL Scripture is useful, it does not say that ONLY Scripture is useful. Paul never said scripture is the only thing needed for a Christian's approval and doctrine. That is erroneous, because if that is the case, then he (Paul) would not have participated in the Council of Jerusalem and the decisions of the church to replace Judas and the dogmatic truths declared by Peter in the council. The operative word is "ONLY" and nowhere in that verses says the word "ONLY". If Paul did say that, then that would be a contradiction of his very own words in 2 THESSALONIANS 2:15 that says that it is through Sacred Tradition that we learn our beliefs.
2 THESSALONIANS 2:15 -Therefore, brethren, stand fast; and hold the traditions which you have learned, whether by word, or by our epistle.
FYI: The Holy Bible itself came from the Sacred Tradition of the church, not the unbiblical sola scriptura. Paul only states that scriptures are good for instruction and teaching (teaching tool). Paul's letter (epistle) to Timothy was not Scripture when he wrote it, so Paul was referring to the Greek OT (Septuagint, again books that protestant rejected and refuse to call Scripture), so they are not obeying Paul), since Timothy did not read Hebrew. So Paul was saying, "All the Septuagint is inspired by God and profitable for ... "
But the next, even bigger, point is that Paul was acting out Tradition when he wrote this to Timothy - he was not an original Apostle but was added to the Church (baptized) by Ananias of Damascus, and finally confirmed by the Apostles in Jerusalem, granting him authority and apostleship. And Paul, using his apostolic authority made Timothy a bishop also. If Paul's writing carries any weight or validity, it is because he is the Authority of Tradition in Action and in Person. This makes Paul's statement to Timothy really say this: "Timothy, I, Paul, by my Authority to define what teaching you follow say to you that you must also give authority over yourself to all the Septuagint like you have me as an authority over you in Christ, since it is profitable for ..."
Every bishop, that acts in accord with this Tradition carries the same authority today as Paul did. We trust the Bible BECAUSE WE ARE OBEDIENT TO OUR BISHOPS, OBEDIENT TO THE MAGISTERIUM, OBEDIENT TO OUR HOLY FATHER, AND THESE LIVING PEOPLE TELL US WHAT SCRIPTURE WE CAN TEACH FROM, CORRECT WITH, AND TRAIN IN RIGHTEOUSNESS WITH. We trust the Bible because the leadership we trust gives it to us, not because of some stand-alone idea about a book that came from the sky.
Even scriptures say that not everything is found in scriptures JOHN 21:25
JOHN 21:25 But there are also many other things which Jesus did; which, if they were written every one, the world itself, I think, would not be able to contain the books that should be written.
This is the reason why Jesus gave the AUTHORITY to Peter and the church He established in MATTHEW 16:18-19 not to a book.

God's "Word" does include verbal literature but it goes further. God's "Word" includes His works and His ways. This is consistent with St. John's Gospel, "In the beginning there was God's Word. In the beginning is speaking of creation. There was no verbal literature at the onset of creation. God's word includes the continual balance of nature and all that one can witness in nature. One example is that no two snowflakes are exactly alike and this phenomenon will continue to occur infinitely. Is the gospel primary or is tradition primary? If tradition derives authority from its self then the argument becomes circular. If it derives authority from an infallible source then what source is that? If authority is declared by fallible men or counsels made of sinful fallible men then the argument remains circular. However if authority is declared by God then where do we get Gods words? Words of priests??? Tradition of councils???? Or, reliable trust worthy documents? Early church fathers???? But then this creates circular reasoning still.
See the logic, or lack of??? This is why scripture as the single authority rule of faith unhinges the church. God is then only sovereign so long as men agree he is by reason of cooperating grace. Earning Moratoria grace. But theres a problem. Scripture doesn’t teach merited grace.
Therefore the church declares its self infallible, uses the very series of manuscripts to say its infallible all the while ignoring those documents truth. A church cant declare authority on the basis of God then ignore Gods word from the very source they claim is irrelevant without its self. Circular thinking. God validates church, church declares its self higher than scripture, but Gods authority in written form is the churches main source, but the church ignores that source for its self.
Truth is, catholicism today is apostate.
Gods word is revealed in only one place. Rome discourages reading scripture without filters. Yet when people read scripture alone, God changes them. He brings light to them and brings them out of Rome and closer to him.
Never once does Jesus speak in favor of traditions of men. And yes, church tradition is of men even today. Whether good or bad, it belongs to the creation and incarnation of man, not God.
Salvation is found no other place than holy scripture. The church is the pillar and foundation of the truth. In other words, the church is the dispenser of the gospel. The steward of the gospel, but it is not the dispenser of grace, salvation, or forgiveness of sins.
A priest cannot forgive sins, because the priesthood is not biblical. The priesthood is a later development hundreds of years later. In fact, Jesus is very explicit on the nature of those leader ship roles within the church.
    Matthew 23:8-12
Additionally, church pastors are to be married with a family. In fact, if their family life is not solid in the eyes of God, then their ministry within the church is illegitimate.
    1 Timothy 3
The reason Rome today does not see this is because Rome does not read scripture. The full council of God is not the dogmatic inflation of micro versus. The full measured council of our Lord is in the Torah first, and then the New Testament, and how they enter twine together.
Forgiveness of sins is with God alone.
    Isaiah 43:25
    Psalms 32:5
    Psalms 130:4
    Isaiah 1:18
    Psalms 25:18
    Isaiah 55:7
    Psalms 86:5
The passage, Rome twist is a result of inaccurate context.
Forgiving the sins of others is not a contextual platform for church leadership to possess power to forgive sins The way God does. The passage in context within matthew is talking about forgiving those who sin against you. It’s a personal forgiveness against a vendetta or action or atrocity. It is not a unilateral decree of church power.
In fact, the New Testament is riddled with the echo of the Old Testament with regard to the one and only one who forgives sins. it is about our confession to God, not Men. We only confess to men as brothers and sisters in Christ for the sake of growth and moving past corporeal consequences. We find refuge in Christ through the body of believers.
    James 5:16
    1 John 1:9
    Acts 5:31
The priesthood, besides the high priest which is Christ, are those who believe in Christ
    1 peter 2:9
And more importantly, a priesthood irrelevant for the true believer in Christ.
    Romans 7:14-28, 8:1
Salvation is of the spirit, night of the declared flesh.
My issue is not with how our church started, but rather how Rome has perverted it over the last 1500 years.
Rome supposes that verbal tradition is parallel to scripture just because verbal proclamation was first. It’s supposed itself can add to that which is already been established, which is in direct conflict with the teachings of the apostles.
Irenaeus (AD 180): We have learned from none others the plan of our salvation, than from those through whom the gospel has come down to us, which they did at one time proclaim in public, and, at a later period, by the will of God, handed down to us in the Scriptures, to be the ground and pillar of our faith. (Against Heresies, 3:1.1)
Athanasius (AD 296-373): The holy and inspired Scriptures are fully sufficient for the proclamation of the truth. (Against the Heathen, 1:3)
Notice the careful riding here. Scripture was never written by Rome. Scripture was written by the original 11+ Paul.
To know, God, is not to know his church, but you know God through the Torah first. The Torah is the culmination set up of Christ and you cannot understand Christ without it.

    ‘Let his encampment become desolate,
and may no one dwell in it.’
    And:
    ‘May another take his office.’o

Therefore, it is necessary that one of the men who accompanied us the whole time the Lord Jesus came and went among us,
    22
beginning from the baptism of John until the day on which he was taken up from us, become with us a witness to his resurrection.”p
    23
So they proposed two, Joseph called Barsabbas, who was also known as Justus, and Matthias.
    24
Then they prayed, “You, Lord, who know the hearts of all, show which one of these two you have chosen
    25
to take the place in this apostolic ministry from which Judas turned away to go to his own place.”
    26

23 and those parts of the body that we consider less honorable we surround with greater honor, and our less presentable parts are treated with greater propriety,
24 whereas our more presentable parts do not need this. But God has so constructed the body as to give greater honor to a part that is without it,

26 If [one] part suffers, all the parts suffer with it; if one part is honored, all the parts share its joy.

The Pope is like the supreme court chief justice that once the decision has been rendered, there is no more debate. As a person, the pope is fallible. The best example for this is the Council of Jerusalem in Acts 15. Although Peter was rebuked by Paul for being hypocrite, he is the one who preside the Council since he is the first Pope. In verse 11 " No! We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are.”, Peter decide that circumcision is not required. There is no new testament at that time and the scripture they knew was the old testament that requires circumcision to be saved. In Matthew 16:19 Jesus said "I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." It only proves that the heaven will conform to the decisions of the church. Of course, you will not believe that even coming from the mouth of Jesus because you believe your pastor rather than Jesus Christ. In 1 Timothy 3:15 says that the church is the pillar and foundation of truth. You do not believe in the bible because you believe Martin Luther over the church that founded by Jesus Christ. You also believe that the church that Jesus established was fallen even though Jesus said that the gates of hell shall not prevail against it (Matthew 16:18). If you do not believe in the words of Jesus Christ, how much more in me.
