I purchased the Signature Edition (back in 2022) because I have a toddler and pets so having it be waterproof is super nice 😂😂. I also chose it cause of the storage capacity! Great video!! 📚💚
Hello, I appreciate this video. I keep watching a bunch of these videos until it’s time for my scribe to come. As a student about to begin an extensive research project, I am picking up the new Metallic Jade Scribe 64GB and have been looking for a device like this for quite some time. I am new to the Kindle ecosystem and e-readers but fell in love when I got the Kindle Basic 2022 in denim at the beginning of this year. I opted for the 64GB bundle, which is the most cost-effective. Taxes will raise the price quite a bit no matter the storage size, and with the bundle, you’ll be paying $399.99, so the base price for the scribe instead of the $449.99, and you will also be getting a very slight discount on the official case and wall adaptor. $62 instead of $69 for the case and $18 instead of $20 for the adaptor.
A very nice summary, Caroline. The batteries on my two Oasis models are dying and they can’t be replaced because of the metal case and the strong adhesive used to attach the screen to the case. So, I upgraded to the newest Paperwhite Signature edition to get all the upgrades Amazon has incrementally added to their more basic over the years such as USB C charging, wireless charging, faster performance, better contrast, and more storage. I have about 3,000 books downloaded on my Kindles, including about 250 audible books, so I always get the model with the most storage. The Scribe has even memory than the 32GB on the Signature edition and has the note-taking ability but it is too big. The Colorsoft has real promise for readers of comics, manga, and graphic novels, once Amazon solves the yellow line or blotchiness problem. Amazon had a similar problem years ago that they had to solve after so many people returned them, including me. They increased the number of LED’s and their placement. I’ve had all the Kindle models except for the Scribe and the Voyage and I don’t remember if this problem appeared before or after the first Paperwhite model.
@@JBass33 Thank you for sharing all of this! I am hopeful they get the yellow line on the colorsoft fixed soon! Did you like the oasis?? I am sad they got rid of it!!
Colorsoft will be a good device once Amazon fixes the yellow tint at the bottom of the display, which many people complain about. The 12th Gen Paperwhite uses an all-new black-and-white E-Ink Carta 1300 display, while the Colorsoft uses E-Ink Kaleido 3. Kaleido 3 adds a color filter layer on top of the black-and-white display to produce color. Unfortunately, this filter slightly reduces the sharpness and contrast of the black-and-white text. Think of it like looking through a lightly tinted window-things are still visible, but not quite as crisp and slightly grainy and dark in brightness. In essence, the Colorsoft makes some trade-offs in sharpness and contrast to achieve color capabilities. If your primary focus is on reading black and white text with the best possible clarity, the Paperwhite 12th Gen will likely provide a more satisfying experience. But if you like comics, the color may help set the mood a bit better. Comics are still displayed identically on the Paperwhite models. But just without color.
i have the previous pw signature and oasis. my oasis is so glitchy and annoying i def traded it in for a basic in matcha lol basics are my fV just which they had warm light.
Hi - I'm not the most tech savvy of consumers & I'm looking for a sub $60 budget friendly tablet/e-reader type device with text-to-speech & audio capabilities - mostly to just read/listen to text based e-books - (my wants & needs are pretty basic & minimal). Was looking at the Fire HD 8" 2024 edition tablet which is now on sale & with-in my budget - but I'm not confident if its a good choice or not. I'd appreciate some guidance & or other suggestions if you'd be gracious enough to help. Thank you :)
Hello! The Fire tablets could work! Walmart also has tablets as well that are Onn brand and around your price range. If you are open to a Kindle, you could check out used Kindles or look at trading in an old Amazon device you have to get 20% off a Kindle basic. I believe all kindles have bluetooth for audiobooks! Another easy option is using apps on your phone like the Kindle and Audible apps. Libby and Hoopla are also apps on your phone that you can use to get free ebooks / audiobooks with a library card. I hope this helps!!!
Most books are 1mb, so a 16gb device would store 13,000 - 14,000 books. A 32gb device would be 29,000 - 30,000. Even at 1.5mb per book is still more than you referenced. Other than this, it was a really helpful and insightful review, much appreciated .
@@DocUK123 Thank you for sharing this! I saw all kinds of ranges depending on if you had audiobooks, graphic novels, etc. so I just went on the lower end to be safe!
The question should not be which kindle should I buy, but which ereader should I buy. If want to stay in the Amazon eco system, which ereader should I buy that can use the kindle app (or a kindle device)?
I bought the Colorsoft and I have to say...I LOVE IT! It's so nice to see my graphic novels in color it's a game changer for sure.

Ahh thank you so much!! 💖 The extra storage is definitely a pro of getting the signature!!!
Thinking about the kindle scribe. I love to take notes while reading.
I am the same way!! I think it would be a really fun device to use.
