Part of me hopes the community can strong arm Xbox 360 into not closing down the servers and online market like we did with PS3 but at this point I kind of feel like Xbox or rather Microsoft has given up on the home console market completely. I think with the Xbox series x we've seen our last physical media console.
This has actually been a problem for a while, because you are right, lots of the games that have been purchased on my account, only operate on the 360, and there is no downloadable version for the modern consoles, and I know this because when I check the ‘my games’ type section on both consoles, the lists are different.
Here's what I think after 360 store closes afew weeks after that the 360 games that are owned by microsoft including all the company they own those may head over to the arcade emulator app on Xbox
Being online only isnt so much a problem when Fans come together and create servers to preserve the online games, however with the Crew the problem was Ubisoft also revoked all the licenses included with the game so there was no way for people to preserve the game.
@@samanthaazira That would be the best thing to do, especially with Ubisoft games, however I think the bigger FU would be if we the people could get government legislation passed for Digital only titles that were Consumer Friendly and hurt the higher ups of these publishers who rent licenses under the guise of selling a product, which they can revoke at anytime. Sadly any government legislation passed thats consumer friendly more often than not hurts the smaller people and not the scumbags that is should, which hands down sucks. So the only options in most cases for consumers is to speak with their wallets and if everyone were to stop buying digital games and online only games we'd see a shift in the market but some of these games are so damn enticing we seemingly can't avoid paying money to play them (I myself am in this camp).
The Crew was pulled by ubisoft on all platforms they literally removed it from peoples library ive never had this issue before plus hopefully xbox follows through on the promise that xbox games libraries will be accessible through the cloud forever and that the backwards compatible program is starting up again. The 360 is the console that showed me that games were finally at the level of movies in terms of the action, dialogue, acting and cinematography. Also this was the golden era of online gaming
I'm really bummed.I missed out on it, hopefully.Maybe somebody will have a server that they host for the xbox three sixty that I can play on. It's really messed up that we have games in our collection that we don't truly own.

Best console hands down! Love the 360, I still use it quite often nowadays since I don't have an XB1 anymore. Games from GTA 4 and GTA 5 Online, Skate 2/3, Halo 3, Guitar Hero, Battlefield 3, Call of Duty.. So many great games and memories. Never been a better time to be a physical collector. It really does feel like the end of an era even though the era felt long gone years ago. I'm glad servers for games like Cod are still up and running although barely playable sometimes. Slowly but surely a lot of the games will get shut down and fade away which is the sad part.
The Xbox 360 really was a remarkable system and in my opinion the best one they have ever launched. It is a shame that we will be losing some games and that we have to be concerned about some of our physical media that we buy not working
@samanthaazira Yeah it is a bummer, there were a bunch of cool games on the Xbox Live Arcade people won't be able to get anymore, sucks really. I honestly haven't heard of many games from the 360 era that are only online other than The Crew, but yeah definitely something people need to npw start researching before buying.
Yeah you've got to do research before buying video games especially for these new consoles of today. Many video games are glitchy, broken, or may not be all on disc? Mainly need to buy video games that are physical and not digital because it can be delisted and taken away at any given time. And never buy online games cause once the servers shutdown thats it! Digital and online only are no good for gaming preservation physical the only way to keep our gaming truly alive.🙂
I would say the MAJORITY of online-only games, are Free 2 Play now, with micro-transactions making more money than if they charged full-price. Even games that used to cost money are now F2P, Rocket League/TF2 and such. Fortnite having been free to play since launch. (other than STW). Then again you have games like evolve, that only lasted a few years, before being shut down. Then LawBreakers, which was supposed to be F2P, then Cliff decided to charge for it, in an already saturated market, and make it PlayStation exclusive on Consoles, which annoyed his Xbox fanbase from Gears, and PC people were still annoyed at him for basically calling them all thieving pirates which is why GOW 2 wouldn't come to PC.
Apparently I wasn't paying attention but I guess I've learned my lesson.I'm just so used to the old school way where you could buy a game and it was there, but Tony Hawk for the PlayStation 4 is a great example of a game that's not even on the freaking disk
I've grown up alongside video games. So when I went off to college and wasn't able to play local multiplayer the Xbox 360 allowed me to play with my friends that were across the country. I still feel that the 360 had the best menus as well!
This is a ps3 / 360 issue so many games from that era required a server just to get to a menu , some games were patched to work without servers . Also another issue that isn’t talked about is game patches, when a server is shutdown does patches go down as well? Some games are unplayable without patches cause there are issues within the game. It’s why I don’t go crazy collecting except for games that are ps2 era and previously.
@@samanthaazira sadly that is my impression and feelings, if you ever think about some common complaints about games of today, one of the main things is the games not being complete on disk and the other is patches and other stuff down the line and lastly is games that require a server just to play it
Hearing your story about you getting The Crew on the Xbox 360 after server shutdown makes me want to go full 3rd - 6th gen gaming. How is this even allowed in the Xbox 360 store? This is such a serious issue nobody looks at, especially when you take into consideration that porting The Crew on the Xbox 360 was a miracle. I adore the Xbox 360 but seeing this makes me not want to boot up the 360.
The thing about "The Crew" is that the box DIDN'T say it was online only, it literally said 1-player on the back of the box, on both the US version and the Brazil release (which also mentions Watch Dogs for some reason) It also had missions/stories that you could play without interacting with anyone online, it was entirely possible for Ubisoft to patch it so you could play those missions offline, but they'd rather tell you to "BUY OUR NEW STUFF YOU BROKIE" (Not an atual Ubisoft quote).
Yeah, we are in for a crazy future of collecting games where you are going to have to pull up an app or website to research if a game is playable offline or not. I actually saw games get delisted while the 360 was still the current console so i immediately quit buying digital titles.
Yeah, I think I'm gonna have to do a lot more research on my collection and what I have in my possession and what I may not want to keep in my collection if I'm not able to play it in 10 years or so.

I discovered online capability on the Xbox 360 New Year's 2008 and made the three free accounts and I still have those accounts till this day. For a whole a year the only games I had was Kung Fu Panda, Lego Indiana Jones /default games and GTA IV and it was the only games needed at the time because GTA IV multiplayer was amazing, awesome and almost perfect. That was my discovery of the Xbox 360 and I have been an Xbox gamer ever since.😮
I only got to play online with GTA for a short time but I did have a lot of fun with it. I wish I would have done more online gaming with friends but it wasn't something I would often do and I feel like I really missed out.
@@samanthaazira Yeah I made lifetime friends in the Xbox 360 that I still talk to till this day/15 years. Those days were the prime of online gaming. I think I speak for most people that we all took granted, for the great times back then.
I am a switch user and I've seen many videos about why buying digital and online multiplayer games are a bad idea. But this is the last straw, I deleted ALL my digital games and got the physical versions of Sonic Mania and freedom planet(and I plan on getting the physical version of the rest of my Digital games). I'm just going to stick the old indie games from now on, Because unless it's something I truly want to play, A lot of the new games that require day one patches just aren't for me anymore.
Yeah this is making me very concerned about PS4 and PS5 games and how they may just be a shell of a game and when support is dropped the games are no longer playable
Crimson Alliance is NOT really free. The free download is more like a demo. You can't play the entire game. To get the full experience, you need to buy the all-class pack. That costs $14.99. The individual classes cost $9.99 each. There is a total of three-character classes. There is also additional DLC for Crimson Alliance and it's called the Vengeance Map Pack, but it doesn't really add much IMO. I would only buy it if you really want to get all the achievements for the game.
I've been thinking about this subject. I actually don't understand why Microsoft are making this move. There's clearly demand from many players to keep the store active. I don't see how they could possibly be using a whole lot of resources to continue it. They should just keep it going. People are still invested in using this service. I hope they decide against doing this. I know it's very late in the situation to hope that they will change their minds on it but I don't know how they can justify the decision to close it down.
@@samanthaazira They are closing it for the sake of closing it. There's alot of DLC's that I want but there's no way I'm going to be able to get them all before it closes. They should have a rethink.
It's unfortunate what happened to The Crew, I have no respect for Ubisoft for pulling that shit. Another game that got delisted recently at the end of January this year was Spec Ops the Line. I'm glad I bought Spec Ops the Line (Xbox 360) from Mercari last July for $18.07 before it got delisted from digital stores. The Xbox 360 was my teen years, and those were the best. It was the golden era of gaming, and I'm sad that it's coming to an end. Just recently Sarah Bond (Current President of Xbox at Microsoft) announced that she is building a new Game Preservation Team, then maybe she can delay the shutdown of the Xbox 360 Marketplace because if she's taking about game preservation and possibly bringing back the backwards compatibility program. I would also love more games to be added to the backward compatibility list (if the licensing constraints can be worked out).
Yeah Ubisoft is quickly getting on my shit list of don't buy anything from them which sucks because I think the new Prince of persia game was from them and I wanted to check it out. I hope they can work it out to make more older gamer and arcade titles available by preservation .
Ubisoft is pretty much near my shitlist for pulling that shit on the Crew, I haven't bought any from Ubisoft in a while. The only game series I liked of theirs was the Splinter Cell series. I also really hope more older and arcade games are added to the backward compatibility list, too.
It's unfortunate that many games like Left 4 Dead 1/2 along with their DLC won't be available digitally. Because you can't purchase them on the current Xbox store.
Yeah on one hand I understand that it's a licensing issue but it sure sucks that Something that you were able to buy on. An older console is no longer available on the newer one.
I wish I bought Ultimate Alliance remastered for Xbox One before being delisted. I have to hook up my 360 every time I have the urge to replay the game.
I think the telltale game of thrones got delisted. You only get 1 episode on disc and have to download the others. It comes up there is a problem with the download type. I dont know it its just my xbox acting up or if its delisted.
Xbox 360 was the best console in my opinion. I like it better than the newer systems. One of my favorite things was you could play it out of the box box. My Xbox one was just an expensive door stop for about a month or two until I got the money to get Internet I couldn't do anything with it. Man I was so mad about that. I don't even want the series x or s or whatever it is... I guess I'm just going to be full on retro gamer I don't like how they are trying to go diskless id rather just stick to the old school stuff. Who knows maybe it will be worth it down the road if not for me maybe my kids.
Yeah I think the Xbox 360 was the peak of anything they have ever released and it has been a downfall since. The Xbox one lucky for me I was able to pick up for 50.00 and the only reason I bought it was because it was in a bundle with a Xbox 360 several controllers and some games...

Piracy Not only just helps you to preserve games but it also it lets you play those games (like DP) that got de-listed due to some stupid licensing issues. I always feel bad when I see someone pickup MAG on the PS3 in a game hunting video. That game has been a glorified coaster for about 10 years. It is an online only game and the servers were shut down in 2014. I occasionally see one on the shelf at a retro game store and i will inform them about it. Most remove it or throw it away. Others seem not to care...
There are people that will still collect them, but yeah...I cringe when I see Final Fantasy online on the 360 being sold for like 30 bucks, with no disclaimer that the game is 100% unplayable...
I don't bother with the closure of the Microsoft 360 store and delisting games. But removing games to make them completely UNPLAYABLE is what makes me furious. Imagine most games potentially having the same fate as The Crew 1. The people who spent years building their own collection of games like me... it's all went for nothing and no one can even SELL their games. I feel empty.....

What about enhanced 360 games, if you have an older 360 disc can you still download the reworked digital version when you put it into a newer Xbox? Can anyone let me know where I can find info on this? I want a newer Xbox to play Ninja Gaiden 2, but if them taking the marketplace down also means you can't get the enhanced 360 games, that sucks extra hard.
If you have a game that's backwards compatible, you will still be able to put your disc in and play/download the enhanced 360 version- even if/when the game is delisted.
"No Servers shut down" My face when I realise that without the Marketplace You will not be able to buy Xbox Live Gold in the Xbox 360 and there for wouldn't be able to play Multiplayer Online again unless You use outside means for buying Xbox Live Gold like in the PC, Phone, Xbox One, Xbox Series X etc
I already find games I bought I can't download again just say content unavailable I would download everything you own now because I don't trust that you will be able to download again for long

Some food for thought. It’s not just the game servers you need to be conscious about/worry about. There will come a time when system authentication servers go down OR the servers associated with your log in credentials. And that means your system will not be happy anymore. Also, imagine moving into a cabin in the woods because the apocalypse starts and you’ve got solar and wind and nuclear power at your disposal and the console your brought with your libary don’t work. Well why even exist anymore! That’s why I use *piracy* for when you absolutely, positively need to play really old games on a teeny tiny computer.
Yeah, I didn't really think about that. What comes to mind immediately is the Nintendo switch. Cause every time you want to open a game it wants to authenticate it, but that's usually on the first time that you open it. However, if you were to buy a switch that didn't have those games already loaded on it, I would imagine it wouldn't work right? You know hypothetically in the far future

Yeah out of all the Xbox consoles the 360 hands down was the best experience for me all around. I do wish I would have played online more but I was so busy collecting retro I didn't pay any attention to it. I had a friend who utilized it and I was always so impressed on how much you could utilize the console.

I understand that there is cool xbox 360 games. But the games are super outdated. I had a 360 and it broke after less then 3 years. Covered under worrenty I got another one for free but it also only lasted a couple of years. So I assuming the people playing xbox 360s are the ones playing on the newer console versions. Also the rumor is that you will still be able to re-download games. But not be able to purchase games online. Being forced to buy a disc. I don't really see the point of going back and playing old games on a old console. Every time I revisit old games. I'll only play them for a couple hours tops and then quit. Just to feel a bit of nostalgia.
Maybe retro gaming just isn't your thing. I always love plugging in old games and experiencing them often for the 1st time with the understanding that the game may be outdated but it can still be a fun time.

Xbox 360 emulator is getting good, so you can in theory play all 360 games in it.
Without emulators, most games last 50 years would be gone forever.

I discovered online capability on the Xbox 360 New Year's 2008 and made the three free accounts and I still have those accounts till this day. For a whole a year the only games I had was Kung Fu Panda, Lego Indiana Jones /default games and GTA IV and it was the only games needed at the time because GTA IV multiplayer was amazing, awesome and almost perfect. That was my discovery of the Xbox 360 and I have been an Xbox gamer ever since.😮
I only got to play online with GTA for a short time but I did have a lot of fun with it. I wish I would have done more online gaming with friends but it wasn't something I would often do and I feel like I really missed out.
@@samanthaazira Yeah I made lifetime friends in the Xbox 360 that I still talk to till this day/15 years. Those days were the prime of online gaming. I think I speak for most people that we all took granted, for the great times back then.
I am a switch user and I've seen many videos about why buying digital and online multiplayer games are a bad idea. But this is the last straw, I deleted ALL my digital games and got the physical versions of Sonic Mania and freedom planet(and I plan on getting the physical version of the rest of my Digital games). I'm just going to stick the old indie games from now on, Because unless it's something I truly want to play, A lot of the new games that require day one patches just aren't for me anymore.
Yeah this is making me very concerned about PS4 and PS5 games and how they may just be a shell of a game and when support is dropped the games are no longer playable

Crimson Alliance is NOT really free. The free download is more like a demo. You can't play the entire game. To get the full experience, you need to buy the all-class pack. That costs $14.99. The individual classes cost $9.99 each. There is a total of three-character classes.
There is also additional DLC for Crimson Alliance and it's called the Vengeance Map Pack, but it doesn't really add much IMO. I would only buy it if you really want to get all the achievements for the game.

I've been thinking about this subject. I actually don't understand why Microsoft are making this move. There's clearly demand from many players to keep the store active. I don't see how they could possibly be using a whole lot of resources to continue it. They should just keep it going. People are still invested in using this service. I hope they decide against doing this. I know it's very late in the situation to hope that they will change their minds on it but I don't know how they can justify the decision to close it down.

Another game that got delisted recently at the end of January this year was Spec Ops the Line.
I'm glad I bought Spec Ops the Line (Xbox 360) from Mercari last July for $18.07 before it got delisted from digital stores.
The Xbox 360 was my teen years, and those were the best. It was the golden era of gaming, and I'm sad that it's coming to an end.
Just recently Sarah Bond (Current President of Xbox at Microsoft) announced that she is building a new Game Preservation Team, then maybe she can delay the shutdown of the Xbox 360 Marketplace because if she's taking about game preservation and possibly bringing back the backwards compatibility program.
I would also love more games to be added to the backward compatibility list (if the licensing constraints can be worked out).
Yeah Ubisoft is quickly getting on my shit list of don't buy anything from them which sucks because I think the new Prince of persia game was from them and I wanted to check it out. I hope they can work it out to make more older gamer and arcade titles available by preservation .
Ubisoft is pretty much near my shitlist for pulling that shit on the Crew, I haven't bought any from Ubisoft in a while. The only game series I liked of theirs was the Splinter Cell series. I also really hope more older and arcade games are added to the backward compatibility list, too.
It's unfortunate that many games like Left 4 Dead 1/2 along with their DLC won't be available digitally. Because you can't purchase them on the current Xbox store.
Yeah on one hand I understand that it's a licensing issue but it sure sucks that Something that you were able to buy on. An older console is no longer available on the newer one.
I wish I bought Ultimate Alliance remastered for Xbox One before being delisted. I have to hook up my 360 every time I have the urge to replay the game.

I think the telltale game of thrones got delisted. You only get 1 episode on disc and have to download the others. It comes up there is a problem with the download type. I dont know it its just my xbox acting up or if its delisted.

Xbox 360 was the best console in my opinion. I like it better than the newer systems. One of my favorite things was you could play it out of the box box. My Xbox one was just an expensive door stop for about a month or two until I got the money to get Internet I couldn't do anything with it. Man I was so mad about that. I don't even want the series x or s or whatever it is... I guess I'm just going to be full on retro gamer I don't like how they are trying to go diskless id rather just stick to the old school stuff. Who knows maybe it will be worth it down the road if not for me maybe my kids.
Yeah I think the Xbox 360 was the peak of anything they have ever released and it has been a downfall since. The Xbox one lucky for me I was able to pick up for 50.00 and the only reason I bought it was because it was in a bundle with a Xbox 360 several controllers and some games...
This Deadpool Part You are talking about, this is the reason why piracy community exist. Piracy Not only just helps you to preserve games but it also it lets you play those games (like DP) that got de-listed due to some stupid licensing issues. I always feel bad when I see someone pickup MAG on the PS3 in a game hunting video. That game has been a glorified coaster for about 10 years. It is an online only game and the servers were shut down in 2014. I occasionally see one on the shelf at a retro game store and i will inform them about it. Most remove it or throw it away. Others seem not to care...
That's so crazy that there's game sitting on shelves that are essentially unplayable and not a lot of people know about it
There are people that will still collect them, but yeah...I cringe when I see Final Fantasy online on the 360 being sold for like 30 bucks, with no disclaimer that the game is 100% unplayable...
I don't bother with the closure of the Microsoft 360 store and delisting games. But removing games to make them completely UNPLAYABLE is what makes me furious.

What about enhanced 360 games, if you have an older 360 disc can you still download the reworked digital version when you put it into a newer Xbox? Can anyone let me know where I can find info on this?
I want a newer Xbox to play Ninja Gaiden 2, but if them taking the marketplace down also means you can't get the enhanced 360 games, that sucks extra hard.

If you have a game that's backwards compatible, you will still be able to put your disc in and play/download the enhanced 360 version- even if/when the game is delisted.

There is a fix for The Run. Just disconnect your console from the Internet and try again. This is not acceptable but it works.

It’s not just the game servers you need to be conscious about/worry about.
There will come a time when system authentication servers go down OR the servers associated with your log in credentials. And that means your system will not be happy anymore.
Also, imagine moving into a cabin in the woods because the apocalypse starts and you’ve got solar and wind and nuclear power at your disposal and the console your brought with your libary don’t work. Well why even exist anymore!
That’s why I use *piracy* for when you absolutely, positively need to play really old games on a teeny tiny computer.
Yeah, I didn't really think about that. What comes to mind immediately is the Nintendo switch. Cause every time you want to open a game it wants to authenticate it, but that's usually on the first time that you open it. However, if you were to buy a switch that didn't have those games already loaded on it, I would imagine it wouldn't work right? You know hypothetically in the far future

My Favorite Thing About 360 Was The 360 Indie Games Experimental Games Made By An Independent Developer With No Big Budget They Were Super Cheap But They Were A Gamble As They Could Vary In Quality They Were Useual When The Points System Was In Play And You Had Like 80 Points Left Over The Whole Library Was Discontinued And Many Of Those Titles Are Lost To Time

Yeah out of all the Xbox consoles the 360 hands down was the best experience for me all around. I do wish I would have played online more but I was so busy collecting retro I didn't pay any attention to it. I had a friend who utilized it and I was always so impressed on how much you could utilize the console.

I understand that there is cool xbox 360 games. But the games are super outdated.
I had a 360 and it broke after less then 3 years. Covered under worrenty I got another one for free but it also only lasted a couple of years. So I assuming the people playing xbox 360s are the ones playing on the newer console versions.
Also the rumor is that you will still be able to re-download games. But not be able to purchase games online. Being forced to buy a disc.
I don't really see the point of going back and playing old games on a old console. Every time I revisit old games. I'll only play them for a couple hours tops and then quit. Just to feel a bit of nostalgia.
