Did my MBBS from a Private medical College in India and I'm currently a Teaching Assistant at Harvard T.H. Chan school of Public Health and an incoming Research Fellow at a leading Medical Centre in US. My batchmates have secured residency in PGI Chandigarh and my seniors have secured Residency in AIIMS and really acclaimed GMCs throughout India. The only distinction between a Private and a Government medical College is the fees and 'LITERALLY' nothing else. Though there are some fair share of cons in both these places. In some government colleges you'll find mismanagement and lack of resources at the disposal of the student together with less time being spent on a single patient to deal with the increasing patient load. In some private colleges, you'll find less bed occupancy since to fulfill MCI's rules, these hospitals are built near rural/sub-urban areas where patients don't tend to visit hospitals often.
I've scored 534 in neet with self study n i don't have energy or motivation to attempt again. But i have to n I'm so frustrated at our education system for this. I can't go to private or even if I go to Russia, people demotivate by saying that Russia mbbs doesn't matter.
If you can afford a pvt college just go for it. And if you cant then you can go to Russia the thing is u would be motivated only for first month or so then there will be a whole new culture a country with no parents restrictions so we cant avoid the fact that u wont go to explore those things. Many students go and fall for that trap. If you are actually determined that you can study “pass” and enjoy as well only then consider it. Bcs after coming back to india you again have to give several tests so if you didnt study well there it wont matter as again u have to take drops your degree wont matter at all thats what people mean when they say Russia or foreign mbbs doesnt matter!
True. Look for the clinical material, good library, hostel facility etc. But when compared to the fee structure, there is no comparison at all between the government and private colleges. It's not just little more to pay in private college. rather it's huge and every passionate or intelligent person cannot afford to. This is the sad situation in india because of the reservations categories.
I am a private MBBS student. I have seen a lot of comments saying that drop year is the worst thing, dropping an year is uncertain, droppers never get success, even abroad MBBS is better than dropping a year and bla bla bla. So, to all those who say that dropping a year is the most uncertain thing decision and the worst blunder one can make, I have a few things to say: 1. So, you were unable to cope up with NEET syllabus and get a government seat via the competition. How are you so sure that you will be able to cope up with the huge syllabus of MBBS? NEET syllabus is not even 10% of MBBS syllabus. Isn't it uncertain? 2. If you belong to a middle class family or even an upper middle class family, most likely you will have to take loan to 'buy' a management seat. You will have to repay the loan with interest. Simple MBBS graduates earn 20- 50K monthly. Later on also, the salary doesn't increase like in other jobs. There is a very little increment. I have heard about students committing suicide due to this pressure. Just imagine, with that salary, how you will repay a loan of 70- 80 lakhs that too with interest. Isn't it uncertain? 3. Majority of the private medical colleges are not at par with government medical colleges. Yes, it is nothing but the plain truth. In a lot of them, teaching is not up to the mark and clinical exposure is quite bad. It is true that very reputed medical colleges or top private medical colleges are better than most of the government medical colleges. But, generally an average government college is better than an average private medical college. What is the guarantee that you will become a competent doctor after graduating out of an average private medical college? Isn't it uncertain? 4. Private medical college students are judged everywhere and almost by everyone. It is just a say that private medical college students and government medical college students are equal and there is no bias. The bias do exists. A lot of my friends and other people have commented on me that I am nothing but just a lucky guy with rich parents who bought the seat for me, I am a failure etc. Sometimes, even close near and dear ones say that I should have given a year and should have worked harder to crack the competition. I score good marks in MBBS but my government counterparts have seen and know about a lot more practical cases. They are a lot more confident. Even most of the hospitals prefer government medical college graduates over private medical graduates (unless they are not from top private medical colleges). So called educated people who know about the difference between private colleges and government colleges will directly judge you without considering the fact that why you did not get a government medical college despite scoring good marks (genera candidates don't get it even after scoring 570+/720). They will not consider the negatives like reservations, malpractices etc. They will just assume that you are just a rich brat who is good for nothing. What is the guarantee that you will not face bias? Isn't it uncertain? 5. MBBS in today's world is basically nothing without PG. You were unable to crack NEET. What guarantee do you have that you will be able crack PG which is far, far tougher than NEET? Yes, there are students from private medical colleges who crack PG that too in their first attempt, but they are rare and generally, they are from top private medical colleges. Mind you, the total number of PG seats are lesser than 1/6 of the total number of MBBS seats. Also, there is more tussle to score higher marks in PG as higher marks are required to get top demanding branches like Radiology etc. unlike in NEET where if you score the cutoff marks of a government medical college or you score 720/720, you will get MBBS only. In PG, the competition gets to an unimaginable amount of height if you want a top branch or a very demanding branch like Radiology, derma etc. Also, in NEET only 30% aspirants are actually serious about cracking it which is very dissimilar to PG in which you are competing against everyone who is a doctor. So basically, you will be competing against doctors from all the colleges (even AIIMS Delhi, MAMC etc.). PG from private medical colleges costs crores of rupees. You were unable to crack an exam with just 3 subjects. How will you crack an exam with 19 subjects that too with far more severe competition and far lesser seats? Isn't it uncertain? 6. The environment of majority of the private medical colleges is not studious. I have seen a lot of rich brats who are just coming for the sake of getting a degree and adding the prefix 'Dr.' before their name. They are not at all competitive. They know that their parents are rich and most likely will 'buy' them a PG seat too. Ultimately, you will not be pushed to perform better. How are you so sure that you will become competitive and do your best in such an environment? Isn't it uncertain? 7. I know about some management students who don't even appear in the examinations ,yet manage to pass them. There is a strong rumor that many private colleges accept money from the students and pass them without even writing the exams. One of my juniors from another private medical college told me that his college intentionally fails the students so as to extract more money from them. What is the assurance that you will not come across such malpractices? Isn't it uncertain? I never mean to degrade private medical colleges. As I said earlier, I myself is a student of a private medical college. I never said that private medical college students cannot get success. I just told about some negative things about average private colleges which I came across. In my opinion, a drop year or even two is more worthy than spending almost a crore on a plain MBBS degree and carrying a 'management student' tag. If you are so rich that one crore rupees does not matter to you, or, you can afford to buy both MBBS and PG seats, then only think about it, or if you are from a family background of doctors so that you can start earning well right from the beginning and that you can be mentored by an established doctor. If you are from a middle class family or even an upper middle class family with no medical background, never make the mistake of selling everything or sinking into loans to buy an MBBS seat. Trust me, it is not worth it. I always suggest that the best strategy to follow if you think that drop year is a waste is to enroll in a different course and simultaneously prepare for NEET. It is a bit tough to manage but in that way, you can prepare for NEET while graduating in some other course, without wasting time. I am sorry if my comment hurt anyone. Sorry for my grammatical errors too.
@@ask2462 Exactly. This is what I try to make people understand. It is a very big misconception that private medical colleges are equal to government medical colleges in every sense and there is just difference of fee structure. The reality is private medical colleges are not equal to government medical colleges Sadly, this concept is only true for top private medical colleges and very reputed private medical colleges. They are better than most of the government medical colleges, but an average government medical college is always better than an average private medical college.
Vinayaka Missions Research Foundation is a Deemed University where they're selling MBBS certificates to students who never attended medical college. So, BJP government should shut down such medical colleges and inaugurate some useful medical colleges.
You are motivating others while also motivating yourself. Why do you feel the need to impress others by getting into a good government college? Being in a private college doesn't matter; what matters is how you are using it for your own growth and becoming a good doctor. Having pride in affording expensive education will get you nowhere. This kind of attitude is not beneficial.

I’m in a situation where I’ll get a govt. college but it’ll be far away from home in the lesser developed places (I’m from Pune, Maharashtra) which are ranked low in the state list. I’m having to consider everything from infrastructure (because some of these colleges are lacking proper infrastructure or haven’t been constructed yet, from what I’ve heard from others) to comfort and also compare it with private colleges in a good city like Mumbai. I’m just very confused rn 😪
St Johns has 20 seats for non reserved and 130 seats for reserved. It is the best college as per many reviews. The cutoff for non reserved this year is 6k for AIQ and 12 k for Karnataka non reserved. The cutoff other students is 11 lakh! Best rank is around 1 lakh plus. How it will feel for a person below 10 k rank to study with poor rank holders like 1 to 11 lakh! Will he feel proud that he is so good, like a white beautiful swan in a group of crows? With you logic finally all will be Doctors no matter what be the means. With their own merit they wouldn’t have got BA also in good Arts college? You logic is skewed, want it then get it. This kind of things were happening in politics, now is entering professional education also. Shame of people who like to justify their incompetence with their parents/sponsors wealth.

@@bhavikakapoor9707 Okay so when my brother entered the college with a huge amount of loan in lakhs, my family members were sure that after passing out and doing his pg he'd manage all these. He took admission through neet but after a few days after admission the management started to more money if he want to stay in college. All the required payment was done but the management were asking more. We managed to provide him a few lakhs more and this horrifying thing continued with most students. Some left due to debt but my brother stayed. Some complained but I feel that teachers were also involved. During his college years sure there was exposure to patients but their routine was haphazard. It wasn't like a normal routine of a medical college. They had their own ways of teaching, punishments, and duration of assignments. Sometimes there were hardly any classes n if you stay outside of the campus you just come to college to know that there is no classe. All are treated as reformatory students and there was huge discrimination against Northern students. He somehow managed everything and a lot more happened. And the last thing I'd tell you that during internship you are barely given any stipend. If you manage to get it will be like after 2 or 3 months. Well he don't want me to go there as I'm already a neet aspirant. Even if I go to any private I have two options 1. Dy Patil 2. Kmc

Chalo kisi ne to name bataya pvt. Medical colleges k...😄tqsss!!🌼..
I got 621 this neet ug and my parents and their friends are recommending a private college in my city(Hyderabad) cuz I dont wanna go out of the state and apparently this college is stricter in terms of academics as compared to govt colleges here where " toppers read and get ranks by themselves" ......all in all a gud suit for a lazyass like me.....so yea
....I am in a bind and was checking into on youtube regarding this matter lol....thanks for the info anyways 😊
Edit: the cutoff in hyd is lesser compared to other states ig....just saying
Hello mam meko ek doubt ha Kya Huma 80-90lakh dekr mbbs krni chaiya agar hum general ha tu ....aur agar hum middle class family sa ha aur agar hamara Ghar ma koi doctor nahi ha tu....aur agar hum sirf mbbs hi private krskta hu ...pg nhi tu Kya Huma itna Paisa dekr mbbs krni chaiya ....yeh worthful h kya
3 things :
Patient load
Hospital facilities
Budget

Govt college>>>>>>pvt
@@cineverse442 I hope u were a survivor of neet 2024, u would understand that even 600-640 gen catego students have no choice but to take pvt clg…instead of wasting ur life repeating yrs off to study for a stupid exam, might as well save all those for pg and get a top clg for neet pg! Which btw is more impt than ug…everyone knows that
Omg ma'am , i loved every bit of your thought process
Mansi it's not about doubting the intelligence for taking government and private college it's about how much hardwork u do, how much effort u put to become a doctor...and competition is all about testing your passion , sacrifice towards your job.. it's all upto u that when u start and how u start doing work for your job... that's it...LOTS OF LOVE
India people will judge u whether u r in govt or in private...its their legitimate right...

@@MansiSingal yeah its cathartic🥲
I missed govt for 1 mark, belong to unreserved ,I got in private institute this year 😭😭😭
hi , what are you doing now private or drop
Please let me know whether you got admission in private or took the drop??
Its not like its does not matter but ya the duration for mbbs is more so why dont u consider some other country
Private colleges are great but not anyone can afford it.
So, to all those who say that dropping a year is the most uncertain thing decision and the worst blunder one can make, I have a few things to say:

Hii, you can watch my new video where i talk about this issue :)

After completing mbbs from some other country is there any issue of getting job in your own country? If yes what are those?

Dy Patil 2. Kmc
