- Why Chameleon Didn't Summon MASTER OOGWAY in Kung Fu Panda 4? Well, there could be a few reasons for that, but let's dive into the most obvious one. It's likely that the Chameleon didn't summon him because Oogway would have been too powerful for her to control. He could have easily defeated the Chameleon once he returned to the mortal world. Another possibility is that most of the individuals the Chameleon took from the spirit realm were criminals. Therefore, she might have wanted to be the ultimate villain for Po by stealing kung fu from villains and not heroes. And here's another possibility: Maybe Chameleon didn't even know who Oogway was. I mean, the city they were in didn't even know who Po was. They were clueless about the Furious Five, too. But that pangolin-looking dude did know about Master Shifu, which was kinda strange. Maybe Shifu was a bit of a globetrotter back in the day.

Oogway would've stopped her without even trying.
As much as I want to talk about how she can just shoot her tongue out as he is descending, after seeing Legends of Awesomness and scaling Oogway above Po, or equal, I would say that is absolutely true!
Oogway could easily dodge the tongue and used the paralyzing touch points as he did with tai lung then defeated the rest of the goons

There's another possible reason: The writers would have to put in effort to Oogway's character if he was in the film.

And if she did do her research on Kai... surely she would know about Lord Shen having no skills in kung fu (Not saying he was weak) ... He was very cunning and intelligent, using his gifted feathers to his advantage as a shield or hiding knives within them.

And this doesn't even mention her reasoning for stealing all of it. Bo hoo "Im too small, to learn kung fu" Miss mama... you're DAUGHTER knows kung fu... MANTIS one of the furious five is the size of an action figure... SNAKE HAS NO LEGS and still learned kung fu. There is even a master flipping CHICKEN... SHIFU is a red panda pushing 50 and knows kung fu... what do you MEAN you're too small?

Oogway's spirit reached highest level of tranquility in the spirit realm through meditation that his presence blended as almost non-existent for chameleon to be detected. In Kung Fu Panda 3, he already endorse everything to Po.
It can’t be that she didn’t know who Oogway is, at least because she dreamed of learning Kung fu and it is impossible her to not know about Oogway, cuz he literally created Kung fu.
She could have learned about kung fu later on from stranded traveller who learned it through generations. Stricter masters who does think that size matter. Not everyone was Oogway after all.

And even then she would still probably think they would not accept someone like her due to rooted beliefs. Plus, Kai did quite ruckus after reviving, she could have heard tales of that, not the older ones with Oogway.

Chameleon's monster form reminds me of that scrapped Godzilla movie where godzilla faces a shape shifting monster that has 3 forms and in the final battle the monster would combine all forms into one. sadly this idea was scrapped

Yeah. Maybe she knew about Oogway but it's likely none of the kung fu masters of Juniper City knew Mantis or any of the Five. So they rejected because of her small size as well as her status as a lowly reptilian runt.

I have a problem with the movie. Kai was already a spirit warrior, meaning already dead. Then he died as a spirit warrior, meaning he should be dead for good. SO THEN HOW IS HE BACK IN THE SPIRIT REALM

The movie could've ended like Jurassic World fallen kingdom where the villains instead of accepting to go back to the spirit realm, they decide to fight each other or team up to roam and cause trouble in whole China. Terribly wasted opportunity in soo many ways.
And set the movie up for something more special. And who knows where this story could lead to... Basically, endless possibilities.

Sadly, I don’t think that would’ve worked. These people from the Spirit Realm spent so much time there, they became Spirit Warriors themselves. And if they stayed too long, the balance of the universe would’ve been disrupted, causing them to slowly whittle away.
Kind of like how Spiderverse said “If you don’t belong here, you die.”
@@Skyfish93 still better than just standing there being npc's. An alternative idea than would've been to not add Shen or Kai at all cause a part from being npc, they just unalived their characters. I mean not even a single word?!?! I honestly expected an exchange of words between villains and even a fight when the film was announced.
Another reason is Oogway wouldn't WANT to leave the spirit world anyway. A door opening would just be like "Oh, someone's opened a door. I wonder if they'll visit." be ultimately he won't go into it.

I do believe the first theory hits the best.
The second theory felt like a maybe, although it is hinted that Oogway actually was as criminal as Kai is, with Oogway turning good.
And the third theory would exclude the third movie, as its shown how people knew Oogway far more than Kai.
Any of those guys the chameleon summon should’ve been able to destroy her, especially Kai of all people. You telling me the dude that managed to beat oogway and steal his chi got no diff by her. That dude would’ve drop kick her into the spirit realm.

@@stownjam how was kai unoriginal? He was the first one to take kung fu masters and made them fight in his behalf, while also being a strong fighter himself. Thats a very original power. Especially since they clearly showed Tai Lung and Shen, but refused to use either of them,
Kung Fu Panda 4 literally brings back all past villains, and uses kung fu masters to fight against Po. That is literally a rehashed plotline from KFP 3 and rehashed the villains.
And while I think Chameleon could have been really cool, it would have been amazing if she didnt need to change her form to use the techniques, and that she just uses her transformations to cause chaos. It would also have been cool that her character arc would literally be that she wanted to be the most famous kung fu fighter, but since she couldnt get better through Oogway, she decided to oppose ALL kung fu fighters instead. Only for Po to embrace his teacher role and show her a new path.

Tai Lung became outraged due to being trained for years, yet getting denied what his master set him up for. Painfully struggling to get to the top, putting his blood, sweat, and tears into his training, as shifu kept filling his head that he would become the dragon warrior. But as soon as Oogway said otherwise, shifu did absolutely nothing(not even conforting him or offering him a happy medium).
Lord Shen was the best villain in my opinion. Not only did he have a pretty solid background, but he also had ties to Po in ways where it affected him greatly. He thought his parents hated him, because in his eyes, "why would you have to ask a fortune teller about what your son will become when he didn't do anything wrong in the first place?" Obviously it was because Lord Shen was exhibiting bad behaviors, like making gun powder into a weapon, but he didn't see that as bad, he was simply innovating. So, after seeing what his parents did and that he would be defeated by a warrior of black and white, he reacted and went for the pandas, thinking he killed them all. Returning home proud, as his parents just looked at him in shameful regret, so they banished him. Lord Shen thought he was betrayed by his parents for no good reason, he thought he was unloved and unwanted, when it wasn't the case. Whats better is that, him and Po finally meet and Po becomes very distressed due too all the damage Lord Shen had inflicted onto him.
Now for Kai, his story doesn't really add up. He traveled with Oogway and was loyal to him, to the point that he traveled for days carrying him to a place where he could be healed. Oogway was healed but for some reason out of the blue Kai wanted more power? So he tried to steal it before being banished to the spiritual realm by Oogway. That came out of nowhere. Sure he wanted more power, but why? And why now? Oogway never mentioned that he acted strangly or that he wanted more, it just came out of the blue. Not only that but not even the movie takes him seriously, so its hard for the audience to do the same when they portray him as a joke of a villain(and there is a way to do silly villains correctly, look at spot form across the spider verse).
The Chameleon had so much potential, but of course it was wasted. Her motive is terrible. Instead of giving her a great motive, the writers just take the lazy route and say "oh its cuz she's small" ignoring that mantis exists. "Oh but maybe she didn't know about mantis, or any master that would train her" it doesn't matter because they never made it clear in the story if she knew about him, shifu, and Oogway, or not. It feels very confusing. They shouldn't have even gone that route at all. A better back story is her learning kung-fu and becoming a master, but also finding a way to be more powerful via sorcery, but her master rejecting her because it's forbidden, and stripping her of her title of kung-fu master because of it. That is way better than "i got rejected by a few kung-fu masters :("
It's not about the desing, or the concept of the character thats unoriginal, it's their motives and backgrounds that make them unoriginal and uninteresting.

Tai Lung is a better villain than Kai, and Tai Lung alone is MVP Hall of Fame GOAT material himself, let alone having to followup after Lord Shen who is the GOAT of GOATs.

Outside of having to contend with two of the best baddies Dreamworks has ever cooked, Kai is a good villain. Decent at the worst.

Well it could be that it would’ve influenced or it could’ve made her moral changes depending on the energy I wasn’t paying the best attention to the movie but she got darker and darker as the movie progressed and as she took the power of more villains so taking some from hero’s would’ve made her a better person maybe?

Y'know, the thing is, one of the many letdowns for this movie was Chameleons origins. In the 3rd movie, Oogway and Kai were conquerors. So I thought she was a victim of their conquests or at least the hatred the survivors at that time were taught to and brainwashed her to become this monster hellbent on revenge. So instead of actually trying to go to kung fu teachers, she would be taught sorcery passed down from her vengeful ancestors.
So during the 3 prior movies, she creates this artificial staff that allows her to enter the spirit realm. I would like to think that the scene where she gets Tai Lung outta there to steal his kung fu is what actually plays out instead of what we got. Everytime it cuts to the Chameleon, we see how she beats Shen and then her fight with Kai is longer and more personal due to the generational trauma she was brainwashed into.
Her true goal is this. Steal the kung fu of every master; including Po's, then face Oogway in the spirit realm. How it's gonna get implemented in this. I tell stories, not write them

Downplayed and nerfed how? The only time we could gauge his fighting prowess was in his brawl with Kai and he gave his all fighting an amped up version of his brother from another mother who couldnt be defeated by Mortal means.

In KFP2, we saw Li as a person who would defend his family, we saw him wound the wolf leader’s eye. In KFP3, we saw him face off against jade shifu. In KFP4, he got scared by a boar???
In KFP2, we saw Shen as someone who hated Po so much he’d let himself die instead of accepting Po defeated him. In KFP4 somehow he now respects Po???
In KFP, we saw Tai Lung as someone who was filled with rage of being rejected the title of dragon warrior, but in KFP4 he now cracks lots of jokes and quips a lot.
In KFP3, Kai spent 500 years gathering the chi of every Kung Fu Master in the spirit realm to defeat Oogway and get out, and you’re telling me that he for some unknown reason that God doesn’t even know, went back to the spirit realm when he had a chance of escaping?
I won’t even mention shifu cause he was in this movie for the sole purpose of being there.
This movie was made by people who don’t even know Kung Fu Panda, and the people who did know KFP and worked on it either left and refused to return, or they got ignored by the director and everyone else
