  • "He is Odin's man". On this video I shall briefly talk about a new finding, of a 5th century CE bracteate found in Vindelev, Denmark, with the oldest reference to the cult of the god Odin.

horse culture pre dates the pendant above but the actual pendant is from the same time as st. brendan of clonfert . his cross is available in google search images. vikings dio not have a horse culture and the pendant also has the image of a lunula or torc ..thatt too is irish /celtic. isotope analysis of the golds origin will shed more truth on this.

When I first saw this in 2021 I understood quickly that it was Óðinn depicted with a swastika. It made me tremendously excited. I told it to literally everyone I knew. Thank you for everything Arith! I hope one day this symbol can be reclaimed for all cultures in which it has been important. Tack för idag!

      How did you "know"?
      There is nothing confirmed here.
It's one thing to talk about evidence and another to talk about "confirmation" and "I have been saying this for years". The guy in the video has completely mistranslated "vegvisir", a word wich is 90% preserved in multiple modern germanic languages. Red flag!
I wouldn't put too much trust in this guy.

@Freki Bodgaedir what do you mean by "woke meets the Old Gods and history"?

    • @Scareth
      @Scareth Рік тому +3

@Christopher Stein I should've perhaps been more clear. When the find was published it was the main theory, and many (among them Jackson Crawford, who I have little reason to doubt. If anyone in this world is qualified in the subject, it's him) held this theory early on as well. I don't think Arith is the only person with this theory, as it seems that at least everyone I've heard talking about the find has at least entertained the thought of it being Óðinn, if not having been convinced of it. Of course, nothing's guaranteed, and I don't think what I think because of Arith per se, moreso that I'm just happy that he has that opinion as well since to me the more people who have a consensus regarding it, the more acceptable it is to share the opinion.

    • @Scareth
      @Scareth Рік тому +2

@Freki Bodgaedir I agree that Ariths modern values and opinions sometime has a way of coming through in his video subjects. He's definitely what I'd constitute as "woke" and sometimes it has negatively impacted the information he provides. I tend to listen to Crawford more, but Arith is worth a listen either way to me for, if nothing else, his soothing voice at least.
But you're actually intriguing me severely right now:
Do you have a theory that the Swastika originates among the indo European people? How so? This would be very interesting to read. You have any article or book to recommend with that stance?

According to old tales a horse-shoe "often nailed above doorways for good fortune" only contains the luck when held with the tines upward as the torc is in the picture. One could maybe interpret the picture as showing the power of the swastika being dripped/infused into a torc held upward like a goblet.

Great vid Arith. 2 interesting aspects that stuck out to me are the lack of a beard, or even a mustache as well as a very "Greek" appearing diadem, a truly ancient symbol of nobility, which may lend some support to the notion that the runes have a proto-Greek origin.

Hello Arith and thanks for your videos.
    ---------
I´m a Comparative Mythologist and I would like to point towards an academically highly overlooked fact, namely the Shamanic fact of visiting other realms by spiritual journeys far out in space, thus gathering cosmic knowledge a healing powers to their tribes.
    ----------
As you say, "Odin" stands for wisdom in general, hence wisdom is an embedded quality in everything and not a "personified deity". It´s an omnipresent quality. As you also correctly concludes.
He or she who rides "Odins Horse" are travelling by "the speed of thoughts." - with reference to “Odins Eight-legged Horse”, Sleipnir.
    --------
On the Brakteatre, “Jaga” or Jagaz” ,“He is Odin's man", clearly IMO refers to a shamanic tradition of travelling in space and observe facts about this.
    ----------
Then we arrive to the Swastika symbol on the Brakteatre - and otherwhere in all cultures on the globe. This is interpreted to represent the Sun, but how can anyone imagine the Sun to depict such a specific stylized symbol?
The Sun rise and move in a vaulting plane over the Earth and descends under the horizon (The mythical Underworld) and comes up again. At the largest we can speak of only a circular motion and symbolism, right?
    ------------------
Here, the Shamanic de facto spiritual travelling opens up for more logical astronomical and cosmological possibilities, namely galactic scenarios, and especially barred galaxies, as with our Milky Way galaxy.
    ----------------
Observing barred galaxies and its rotational motion provides the exact Swastika symbolism, hence this symbol cannot represent the Sun, but the very Milky Way itself and its central concentrated Light - an imagery which is scholarly interpreted to be the Sun in the scholarly lack of other astronomical and cosmological familiarity. Googling “barred galaxies” can confirm this interpretation.
    ------------------
You´ve also mentioned “spirals” as an important ancient symbol. Again, if these are originated from Shamans in spiritual traveling, they represent the other type of galaxies without the barred structure.
    ---------------
    - I´m also having a second opinion on the carved “arm ring” on the Brakteatre. If you look at the Milky Way band in a darker seasonal period, you´ll observe this as a crescent vaulting whitish figure on the night Sky, and this interpretation fits IMO logically to the galactic interpretation of the Swastika, representing the Milky Way as well.
    ---------------
Generally IMO: The hither till scholarly and academic mythical interpretations lacks a whole extra layer of informations.
"Jaga" or "Jagaz" is IMO a Shaman and not an ordinary elitarian King or Lord.
    ---------------
Arith, you´re expressing a pleasant attitude and approach of being open minded and cooperative, and I surely would like to have a close collaboration with you.
    ------------
I´ve made a website which you can google precisely in this way: Native-Science Net - The Native way of Knowledge.
You can also find a personal mail contact here. (My preferred way of communication)
    ------------------
Ok, enough for now - What do you say?
    BEST WISHES from
    Ivar Nielsen.

Often neglected: the crescent moonshaped ‘Horns’ on the head of Wodan’s steed. Often interpreted as a crescent moon, but with little globes at the points. Could these shapes resemble germanic style Torques or armrings if the Kolben style armrings? They were also symbols of the ruling class: Could they be the earliest depictions of Draupnir?

Swastika is symbol of peace and prosperity in Hinduism. Its known 7,000 years old and also found in Indus civilization findings where hinduaim is related. It went to other part of Asia through buddhism and Hinduism. So I believe that there is one source, one god. We humans just made different religions because of different cultures and belief system and now fighting over it. One race, human race and one god. Peace
Why I said 7,000years? Hindus scriptures talks about River Saraswati that was alive and now it doesn't exists. If the swastika represented the sun, then the swastika in relation to the arm ring could symbolize the sun rising to the east, just below the northeast opening orientation of Lilla Ullevi. I've seen nearly 5000 year old examples of this symbol on pottery in museums in Varna Bulgaria. The Asians got it from Indo Aryans that went into northern India and was adopted by the Buddhists who carried it as far as Japan.

Possibly spread to Asians before India as the Eurasian steppe was a viable means of movement and interaction. We do have Indo European mummies from the Tarim basin even to show this potential interaction. And if it’s older than 12,000 years, there’s potential it’s an ancient north Eurasian symbol as well, which would mean it goes back to the last common ancestor of Europeans, Siberians and Native Americans.

Just because it seems like people (all speaking English) don't think about things like this: This was found on Jute land in the 5th century, putting it basically right on the migrations of the Germanic migrations to Britain. Just because it's in another modern countries land, it doesn't mean it's necessarily foreign. Also, this is a wider reaching little topic, but I don't understand this need to use much later spellings like "odin" when we know most Germanic people's, and the people of this area, would have used something closer to "woden". I don't see why, at least in the English speaking world, we have this need to kind of "grant" all of this history to "the norse", while seemingly most people seem to be unaware of the other Germanic links. Tbf, it's probably just the Anglo need for something to be exotic before it can be liked
