    So glad you mentioned using different sizes to get a better fit. I am hopelessly pear shaped and struggle to find comfortable and well fitting sweaters. Thank you.

    The coloured rings on electric toothbrushes make excellent stitch markers. So those with electric toothbrushes, take them off before you bin

    Magic loop is a great way to save money on needles. One length that you can use for many many different circumferences. Once I learned it I got many sizes in 40 inch length and it works for everything.

      Yes that is great about magic loop . I wish I enjoyed the process but it's not the method for me. Knitting has a method for everyone so we can all enjoy our knitting. Happy magic loop knitting :D

    I have soooo many projects started now, so I'll wait to get started, but I'm going to follow along with everybody, and work on my stitching, because I love your videos and you can keep me company! I'm expecting my great-granddaughter in June (hip hip hooray!) so I'm on a tight time crunch!

    Thanks for the info, I've knit sweaters and they never fit right and I didn't realize the measurements were for the finish fit not the body measurements. If I'd known that I would have actually had successful finishes. Here in Canada I'm pretty sure Aran is a little lighter in weight, between dk and worsted, or so I was told at the knit shops. Happy knitting! 🤗🙋🏼🇨🇦

      Not all patterns are the same and some give both so it's important to read through. I'm the same , all excited to start and just dive in. We are going to do a gauge swatch that will help to check how your yarn is knitting up. Good luck :D

    Well, I bought bulky 5 yarn for this before knowing it asks for denim weight. So, another lesson to learn! Must be a way of using the bulky yarn

    Thank you so much! I was so intimidated starting my first sweater, but I've knitted several since. This tutorial helped me learn how to read a pattern! What brand of needles do you use? I have the Takumi interchangeable bamboo set and I'm considering switching to metal. I just love the sound yours make ♥️

    Perhaps you have mentioned it in a future video I am yet to watch, but did you talk about the different fibres and how they 'act'? For example you are doing yours in cotton, but I know cotton stretches like crazy so would probably knit shorter to allow for this.

    • @Simplyinstitches
      @Simplyinstitches  7 років тому

      I'm hoping it will be OK due to the 40% acrylic. I'm wearing it with jeans so longer over the bum is no problem ;D

    When it says smaller needles is that 4mm or 5mm in 16in and with larger is that 4mm or 5mm in 32in? Thanks in advance

    I am a newbie to sweaters. I like the pattern, except for the detail on the sleeves. Can this be made in a straight knit without making changes. I was afraid of the pattern, until I saw you work it. Thanks

    Hi, quick question: has anyone used interchangeable needles? This pattern makes me think it might be worth the investment

    • @Simplyinstitches
      @Simplyinstitches  7 років тому +1

      They are very popular. I have never made that investment myself, but if you know you like a brand it does seem to make sense.

      I have both fixed and interchangeable, I wouldn't be without either. The Interchangeable,s are great for when a pattern says to change from one size to another, like going from rib to stocking stitch on a sweater.

      I have a set of interchangeable needles and I love them. I just unscrewed the needles when I came to changing from a 4mm to a 5mm. I bought mine from eBay and they are Japanese bamboo, Takumi by Clover.

    Hi Tina- I m very disappointed- I used needle size 8 yarn I used size large on the pattern - I m at split sleeves and I tried it - it is very disappointed as it is very big on me.

    • @Simplyinstitches

      Did you do a gauge swatch? I suggest you do this and then change to the needle size you need for the right size . Good luck.

    The pattern doesn't indicate 10" circulars. Are you replacing the 16" circulars with the 10"?

    • @Simplyinstitches
      @Simplyinstitches  7 років тому +1

      Hi sorry for the confusion. The small circulars are to replace the DPN's so we can knit the sleeves on them instead. If you prefer DPN's that's fine you can use those . I prefer small circulars wherever possible ;D

    • @kristinkiel8890
      @kristinkiel8890 7 років тому

      So, we don't need the 4mm 16" circular. Maybe I read it wrong...that we needed 16" and 32" in each size, 4mm and 5mm.

    • @Simplyinstitches
      @Simplyinstitches  7 років тому +1

      Yes it's the same ,we are all making different sizes. Just mark the size you are doing as you go so you don't get confused with how many stitches I am doing. It's going to be so cute in a little size and super quick :D

      Thank you Tina. I'm really grateful for your tutorial as this will be the first sweater I've done, having learnt to knit last year. I have some beautiful Spud & Chloe yarn in grass to make this for my grandson and I did a gauge swatch today. Are you on Insta? My handle is @knittingpoppy & I'll be posting my progress:)

      Rose Padley the FLAX pullover is an Aran weight yarn pullover. There is a light weight pullover which exactly the same pattern but it is modified as a fingering weight yarn /fine weight yarn. It is called the FLAX LIGHT pullover. I am pretty sure you can follow these tutorials and make the flax light as the pattern for it is exactly the same but it just requires more stitches depending on the size you are making it. Hope this helps...

      Different yarns gives a different results, texture, stitch definition etc . The cotton one I'm knitting at the moment looks different to the wool blend I knit first. I hope this helps ;)
