    My wife asked me why I enjoy watching M/Y Loon on UA-cam. It’s because of videos like this. Paul is such a likable guy (so is the crew!), where would I ever see a video of a tour up this river and…it’s not Below Decks! Shout out to eSysman Super Yachts for spending a segment in Monaco about Loon! The two best UA-cam super yacht channels, bar none.

      Paul does indeed appear to be a nice guy but I also get the impression that he's not a man you would want to "disappoint". He'd be a great boss but his expectations would be very high. That makes him an ideal superyacht skipper.

    Another awesome video! Really loved all the tech details and the tour of the river was fun too. Two questions: 1. will the boat get shrink wrapped or covered in some way before going on the rack? 2. why not get a diesel powered chase boat so you can bunker from Loon? Just curious... Thanks for all the amazing content!!!

    • @motoryachtloon

      Thanks, Barry. Yes, we have a full boat cover for the tender. It was just off getting serviced. The cover will go on once the detailing team has finished before it goes up in the rack.
      Unfortunately, Yamaha doesn't make diesel outboards. Our chase boat in the Med is a diesel, and we bunker it from Loon. Luckily, the HCB holds over 1,000 gallons of gas, so we don't need to bunker her that often.

    • @motoryachtloon
      @motoryachtloon  21 день тому +1

      Great question. The whole industry is watching the OXE outboards hoping this is the future. However, they are currently too heavy, do not have enough HP, and are not reliable enough for out-of-the-way extended cruising. Hopefully, this will be corrected over the next few years, as having diesel outboards would be amazing. 😎

    I watched a video of superyacht captain Tristan mortlick bringing a pretty big superyacht ( I’m sure not in loons league) along that river where the left then the right were etc - was crazy. A few of the bridges and those two turns were a bit squeaky bum - I bet you’re glad you didn’t have to bring something anywhere near the size of loon up!

    This may be a dumb question but, when you're running at low speeds up the channels, do you still run all four motors, or do you have the ability to shut down two & conserve fuel?

    • @motoryachtloon
      @motoryachtloon  21 день тому

      Hey Gary, that's a great question. Yes, we do. For most of this video, we were just on the 2 outboard engines. Reducing the hours on the motors can save considerably on fuel and operational costs, extending the time between services. A full service on quad 450hp engines can cost up to $20k, so reducing the hours on the motors can save considerably. 😎

  • @tonyb8066
    @tonyb8066 22 дні тому

    Paul, two questions: Why do you leave that tender in FLL and not drag it across to the Med? When you're moving the HCB a short distance and low speed, do you still run all four engines?

    • @motoryachtloon
      @motoryachtloon  21 день тому

      Hey Tony, We have two chase boats: the HCB in the Caribbean and the Anvera in the Mediterranean. If you haven't already seen the Anvera video we did last year, go check it out. Both boats have different purposes and uses. Also, insurance wouldn't let us tow the HCB across the Atlantic due to the risk of losing it. Also, the extra fuel burn caused by the drag of the tender doesn't justify it on long trans-ocean passages. If we were to bring the HCB to Europe, we would ship it and pick it up this side.
      2nd question: Yes, we often drop down engines if we are just putting them along. 🛥🥂

    Which is more sporty and fun to drive? The HCB with its quad engines or the Anvera.

      They're both completely different boats, and I love them both equally in different ways.

      @@motoryachtloon I can see why as they are both amazing looking boats. I really like the way the rear of the Anvera opens up to provide a much larger area for activities. Whereas I’m sure the HCB is capable of carrying more people and having higher horsepower. I know the other boat (forgive me I don’t remember the name) you carry onboard is your “Fun” having boat.

    The bridge you identified as State Road 84 is actually Davie Blvd. You never went as far as State Road 84. Also you should have pointed out the Greybar Hilton (Jail) next to the Andrews Ave bridge.

      Correct whoops. Been a few years since I've been that far up the river. Ahh yeah, of course the jail would have been cool. Next time. 😎

    Do you do anything to keep the fuel stabilized and flush the engines and stuff?

    • @motoryachtloon
      @motoryachtloon  21 день тому

      The engines got a good flush prior to going up in the rack. As we use Rec90 fuel, we don't put in any additives, but we do fill the tank up 100% to stop condensation from forming in the fuel tank. 🤙

    What's the damage on portside at waterline just in front of the forklift tines?

    • @motoryachtloon
      @motoryachtloon  21 день тому

      Hey Peter, nice spotting. The boat has a wrap to match the color of Loons' hull. On the trip up from the Caribbean, some of it peeled off. It's already been repaired for next season.

    I have a question for you Loon guys, how many/who all operates the drones that we see the footage of?

    • @motoryachtloon
      @motoryachtloon  21 день тому +1

      Most of the deck crew can fly drones. So, depending on what was happening that day, it could be any of us. In this video, we had Dylan onboard, who was flying the drones and getting all the shots. 😎
