I could see a floor dimmer switch for the headlights being popular with modern drivers. After all, the advantage was that you could easily find it in the dark and not take your hands off of the wheel! Or, for a modern driver, you could find the floor switch and not have to look away from your phone while you're driving. As for the side mirrors, it was fairly common for cars in the 1960's to only have a side mirror on the driver's door. Most roads were only two lanes, so the shoulder was on the passenger side, so what would you need a mirror for? If you were towing a trailer, you could get towing mirrors which strapped onto the front fender on both sides. Another feature I remember from that decade; you could pull your key out of the ignition without turning the car off. Why, I'm not sure. Maybe because you didn't have a remote to open the trunk? But that was thing. Safety standards in the 1960's? What safety standards? Most cars didn't even have seatbelts.
I’m so happy that more classics are being added. Late 40s-Early 70s was the best era of auto design (of course safety was not good before someone nitpicks my comment). I also love the subtle changes between the ‘61 & ‘62 models. The Hood and Tailfins are less aggressive on the ‘62 than the ‘61, showing the the fall of the forward look after it’s peak in ‘59. Hopefully more cars from that era will be added as well as modern SUVs and trucks! Great review as always Neil!
External mirrors weren't required until 68 and only a left one was required at that point. So you will see that very few 68 Dodge Chargers have left mirrors and lots of 69 chargers do have them. but neither had the right one often.

Cars back in the 50's and 60's were like tanks. They are made of steel. I know this becasue my grandpa still has a his 1957 Cadillac Bel Air. That car weights about 3,300 lbs, which is about the weight of a van nowdays. If that car gets into a reck, the other car will be destroyed. While the 57' Cadillac will only have a scratch and maybe a small dent. BeamNG Drive doesn't get that part right.
I've always wondered how you would update paid mods. Like do I have to go and spend more money to download it again or do these sites like ko-fi have a way around that?
I have beamng on Steam but I can't really play it currently since I don't have a gaming pc yet. My i5 laptop always struggles with the lowest settings 😆So once I have a gaming pc I'll for sure buy this mod. That blacked out version looks like a retro version of K.I.T.T!
What's sad is that paid mods have seen a bad reputation in recent years, and those are usually associated with IRL cars that are priced up that high because they're admittedly very bad underneath. But when people like LucasBE and LJ74 come in with their work, it's a whole different world out there.
Mirrors used to be considered luxury options, base models would sometimes not have any, you gotta remember we're talking a car from the 60s here, that kind of thing was very common. Also the mod is incredible, but you're driving is surprisingly bad for someone that's famously one of the biggest BeamNG youtubers. I think you need some BeamNG driving lessons lol, your channel would be perfect for it as well, it'd spread the word that BeamNG's a lot more capable of a sim than people think, plus you'd probably learn a lot about the game that you didn't know before.

I feel like there's two main reasons 1. The beamNG modding scene has been around for a really long time, and people were perfectly content with releasing everything for free, and the influx of paid mods didn't really start until a few years ago. 2. While paid mods are usually amazing in quality, there are free mods with quality that's just as good, sometimes even better (TheCrazyDriver has a really good video on this, "I bought some paid mods for BeamNG.drive. Here is my review.")
oh and also a third thing 3. There's so many paid mods now, that if you wanted to buy all of them, you'd be spending more money than it cost to buy the game itself.

Both, GM, and Chrysler, experimented with gas turbine power-plants back from the late '50's into the '60's (GM) / early 60's (Chrysler).
