Okay, I am not a VR person, my eye doctor said "no VR for you." Which is fine, but if I was, I would like to look at the headset, go thru the setup and settings and THEN go racing.
I’ve been using the E4 for one year exclusively for sim racing and it’s going to take a lot for me to replace it. I have a Quest 3 and it’s not in the same league as the E4 for sim racing. DisplayPort, great FOV and super light in weight, perfect!
I doubt that a lot. The Quest 3 has far better lenses and resolution. With link-cable set to 700 MBit the graphics-quality is superb and certainly much better than this E4-joke.
@@Leynad778 I have both headsets, I can tell you categorically E4 is better for sim racing! No compression which is especially painful on the eyes in Dirt Rally 2.0 and EA WRC. USB streaming can’t compete with DisplayPort streaming.
For circuit racing, it gets closer, but again the compression and latency, the lesser FOV and the weight of the Q3 make the E4 the better overall product for sim racing.
For context I’m an oculus fan boy and with exception of the Pro I have every oculus headset from the CV1 onwards. For normal non sim racing games I use Q3 and Virtual desktop because I love being wireless and the compression is less noticeable in slow moving environments. But for sim racing the compression is too much especially in rally games.
Q3 has better lenses, but the trade offs are - extra weight, compression, increased latency and a lower FOV. Those are some massive trade offs to lessen god rays and to have slightly sharper text on the dials.

Q3 In normal games with slow moving environments is an amazing headset, but as soon as you get into busy fast moving environments the headset and its streaming software fall apart badly.

Lower res BUT no compression ( which is really really bad in rally games on Q3 ), super light, wider FOV, lower latency and the superior DisplayPort steaming. Having less god rays and sharper text are not worth the trade offs that usb streaming brings. I’m an oculus fan boy and have been since 2018, so I’m being honest and objective. @@jamesleegte5753 I sold my 8KX because the Qust 3 is better in almost every aspect. As I said, with higher bitrates and link-cable there are no compression-artifacts I can tell and the latency is lower than using triple-screens, which always causing obvious graphics lags.
Is that a windows Mr headset. I had a windows Mr headset and the software to run the headset was a curse to install sometimes. I literally had to reinstall windows a few times for windows Mr software and drivers to install and sometimes it just refused to work.
I keep hearing about this and it’s all good maybe it’s time to sell the quest 3
Fresnel lenses. Will pass for that reason alone. In 2020 this would’ve been a banger. In 2024, not as much.
