    That thing is so much bigger than I thought it was! I was just thinking, why hasn’t anyone turned one into a real expensive SotA radio? Thinking it was the size of a 7300…

    I just ordered a 6600 along with a back ordered Maestro. I have had a Flex 5000A for 8 years and it was time to get with the program! I will follow your videos on the subject.
    We really should pursue if we are related or not!!

    Recently bought a 6300, had a 3000 several years ago. The 6300 and SmartSDR is so much better, love it. I use the normal Window application at home on a PC, also on my laptop so I can move about, also at work and even on holiday.
    edit: Just bought a Maestro.... loving it... might be your fault.....battery on its way from Amazon, headset also, I could use my Heil headset but its just toooo big so have gone for a Logitech PC headset

    This is a nice radio for sure. I'm curious if you can get two instances running at the same time say one doing FT8 on 30m and the other one doing SSB on 40m. Since you have 2 antenna ports, it would be nice functionality to have; furthermore, if you plug-in an HDMI computer monitor to the 6400 you'd have plenty of screen real estate for both sessions at the same time.

    @Ham Radio 2.0:
    Is it possible to remove/supress the waterfall so that ONLY the spectrum scope shows? ( I do not like to use the waterfall and find it extremely distracting.)
    Thanks!

    I don't have one yet!!! Maybe Santa will be good to me this year. I'm sure you know this but you can also use an iPad instead of the Maestro. Not quite as versatile as the Maestro but will work. Have fun with your 6400.

      Yeah I was going to try out the iPad app but I didn't want to buy it. Believe it or not, the SmartSDR windows app is free - and I already have a Surface tablet, so I just use that when I'm traveling.

    Great video, I dont have a flex yet but looking to buy one. Got a ft-5000dx+, ft-920 and a ft-650 for 6m.
    I am trying to find more info on what is the differences between the different.flex 6000 series. I heard there is different amount of receivers.
    Also about their new amp... does it have built in ATU? Is it.cinvertible between 120 to 240? What about the 50/60hz?

    • @HamRadio2
      @HamRadio2  4 роки тому +1

      Unfortunately I am not very familiar with their amp. Not sure on the ATU. I think you can convert it from 12/240, yes. You might check the FlexRadio forums for that question.

    What mic setup are you using? I just order the same setup you have and looking to use my Heil PR781 with it. Just not sure what adapter to use

    • @HamRadio2
      @HamRadio2  3 роки тому

      The Heil will work fine, you need the Yaesu adapter for it. The Maestro uses a Yaesu mic plug.

    With the maestro can the radio be set up as a stand alone with no pc interface. I looking into flex and understand the abilities of the radio require a pc and network connection but want to be able to have a radio that can be used if my pc is down or power outage more like a traditional radio.

    • @HamRadio2
      @HamRadio2  Рік тому +2

      You don't need a PC to operate the radio if you have a Maestro but you will need some sort of network to connect the Maestro to the radio

    There are several good UA-cam video's on Flex products but this isn't one ! I suggest going to Robert Nagy here on UA-cam for these. And yes I own a Flex have a 6400M and have owned it and run it each day for over 2 years. In addition Nagy shows using an Ipad, plus Windows.

      Next year I'll have my 60th anniversary with Amateur Radio and I just purchased the 6400M... Today is my first day with it and I'm having a blast!... I set it here in the shack beside my old 7610 Icom rig!... Both these radio's sell for roughly the same amount of money and from my first impressions seem to have about the same performance. (at least on my antennas)...
      Besides, my last American made ham rig was a Heath Kit that I built myself.
