You can check out bevel gears. I think there are some built in Bevel Gear in Solidworks, because there is a bevel gear utility in AutoDesk Inventor that will automatically generate these gears for you (the pinion or driver and the driven gear shown here)

How do you get those dimensions at 5:18? I need to change the size of the scroll plate, but I haven't found a clear way of designing the teeth.

Also, what do you do if the lofted cut gives a zero thickness error?
it's probably caused by two intersecting lines in your sketch, make a very small gap between them, will do the trick
