  • So after three years of owning the car and starting the GT2RS build soon after, I have finally got the rear of the car almost 100% GT2RS now. Fitted this decklid today. The only thing missing now is the carbon blade for the wing which is on order.
This is a genuine OEM decklid from a GT2 made from composite material.

I've already started writing it! It's going in for the front end at the end of March. Can't wait!

Is it really that simple? Just a few nuts and bolts? 😅
Getting hold of a second hand parts at reasonable prices is difficult at the moment making it very tempting to get a replica kit. Do you think its worth holding on till one comes up?

      There's nothing simple about it.
You can get kits but they are made of fibreglass and are designed to fit around the underpinnings of a 997 turbo.
My car was converted using OEM parts. It's not just fitted 'over', it's replacing those underpinnings. It's so authentic that Porsche technicians can use their manual of a GT2RS to service and replace parts on the car.

@@YachtReport Thanks for the response. It did look too good to be true lol.
Did you have to purchase more than the decklid itself to make it all work?

Your project is spectacular buddy! I’m a 997.2 TTS owner and I have thought about doing the same many many many times.. guess I’m lacking the guts to take that step! I’m curious about how what you do regarding the electronic spoiler raiser? Is it a shunt or does it have to be programmed? Cheers, well done!

Francisco Pereira da Cruz Thanks, glad you like it. The spoiler is just turned off in programming. I did it myself with a Durametric cable. The new wing electrics plugs in with the same plug, just for brake light and fan.

eSysman cool stuff! Thank you for replying. If I ever get my hands on an aerokit spoiler, I’ll know what to do now! ;)

Do you have to reprogram to account for the spoiler not lifting, so you don't have a fault code on the dash?

Yes you need to turn off that feature. But I have a Durametric cable so was able to do it myself.

Where you find the rear deck lid?

It’s a genuine GT2 deck lid. Bought it from LA Dismantlers in US. Came from a recked car.

    I have Porsche 911 turbo 2004 convertible.
IS THE GT2RS spoiler fit in my car ? if it does, how could I order it ? thank you very much.

Joseph Ngo As far as I know, it does not fit the 996. I have seen replica spoilers for the 996 but I wouldn't recommend them. I tried buying one for my car but the finish was poor.
