    I thoroughly enjoy your videos. The way you work as a family is lovely to watch. There's a certain calmness about the way you handle whatever problem confronts you and resolve them as a unit. I like how you showcase the places you visit and give an honest assessment. You always seem upbeat and that includes the intro music. Last but not least, Linh and Emma have smiles that could light up a city. Sorry about the fish that got away.. with all your line :)

    I have heard wonderful things about Costa Rica, but that definitely didn't look Cruiser-friendly. I have noticed that when Delos and a bunch were going in the opposite direction they didn't spend a lot of time there either. That could have been because there were hurricanes that year all over that area at that time.

I noticed you bring up the price of goods in CR in your last two videos. I would agree. The price of goods in Mexico, Nicaragua, Belize & Guatemala are so much cheaper. I explained everything and your "Good to Go". But it was funny when you think about someone passing by the door and hearing it for the first time. You have "Great Parents" and your taller then your Mom. That's why you wern't stuffed into the engine compartment. LOL😄 The SwordFish ate well too. God Bless

    Teal , you might want to try a hand line, 15 or 20 fa. Long fa. 300 Lb. Tuna cord with 3 fa. 200 LB. Mono leader. Put a snubber at the boat end. Hand line works much better on a sailboat, don’t have to stop to fight the fish. Much less Kasos. In that area to the canal your going to get striped often with a rod

  • @aytacercen944
    @aytacercen944 6 місяців тому

    When you have fishing lines wrapped around your propellors, now you know where they are coming from. Fisherman, charter boats, trolling with bait attracting sail fish, marlin that can't be landed and then released but condemned to one certain death trailing hundred of feet off nylon or braided line, BECAUSE the fishermen used light tackle not capable of landing and releasing the catch.

    A few sailors now have commented that Costa Rica is not that great. It definitely wouldn't be on my itinerary. They seem to only want tourists with lots of vacation money, to fly in and stay at their resorts and do diving and sport fishing charters. Sailors seem to be viewed as poor country cousins, ruining the view.

    Last time I was at Manual Antonio l took a hike south to a nice uncrowded beach. I had to cross a river using a local in a small boat. On the way back I said I would just swim/walk across, but when I started I stepped on something sharp and cut my foot badly. I think the 'boat guy' put glass or sharp rocks there to discourage non-compliance. 😞
    Manual Antonio is very touristy and visitors should be careful walking around at night.
    Because Costa allowed mass immigration from South America many years ago...the drug trade got a greater foothold there and because of that, the murder rate is about 3-4 time greater in the last 4 years. Their police force wasn't prepared for it and are struggling. Most of the problems are in Limon ,but...buyer beware!

    You need "approval" to use the Panama Canal?

    • @OnboardLifestyle
      @OnboardLifestyle  6 місяців тому

      Yes, in order to transit the Panama Canal, you must submit a completed application with all of your vessel information and whatever documentation they ask of you. They will then notify you via email if you are doing the paperwork yourself or your agent if you choose to go that route. An agent is your advocate and helps facilitate things for a smooth transit as well as assist you if anything pops up for a pretty small fee.
