"The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars" for me was the gold standard for a rock and roll album, and for several decades it was what I judged every other album by. Every song is a banger, and it all more or less ties together. It was finally knocked from the top spot on my personal list around 2010 when a co-worker introduced me to a Houston based band called Blue October, and their album "Foiled." I highly recommend you check them out if you get a chance. Keep up the good work, Biz.
How about Blackout or Win? Or maybe Sweet Thing/Candidate/Sweet Thing? It still pisses me off that that isn't all one track on the cd. Maybe it is in the recent remaster but I'm not made of money.
K West was a clothing store in London. Bowie is pictured in the alley behind the shop because a lot of the hip kids of the day would dumpster dive behind the clothing stores looking for cheap finds.
One of Bowie's best songs is from these sessions but it was not included on the record. It's called Velvet Goldmine and it will melt your brain. Regarding this song, it's a damn masterpiece.
When I was 19, in 1990, I already knew I loved the song Ziggy Stardust, but making sense of the entire album was a more acquired taste. I listened to it in it's entirety over and over, until it became a part of me, and since the early 90s, it's so difficult for me to imagine a life without Bowie and without this album. "Soul Love" might be my favorite song, but, for some reason, a line from from "Five Years" sticks with me the strongest: "Drinking milkshakes cold and long"- such a unique descriptive style!
One of the best songs ever. I think he played the sax on this and other early albums. Some of his lyrics were clipped from magazines. He came to town in early '74 with his city street stage. Good times
Yes ,absolutely. Go the whole album. Iv been a Bowie fan for a good part of half a century yet , still discover songs iv never heard. The guys a genius.
This is such a cool song. Bowie was a genius. BTW - a movie came out in 1998 called VELVET GOLDMINE about a glam rock star based loosely on David's Ziggy days and his relationship with Iggy Pop played by Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Ewan MacGregor. It not great cinematic masterpiece, but it is alot of fun and the music is great. I'm sure it's streaming somewhere....
With David Bowie’s Absolutely Amazing Vocals & Eclectic Songwriting along w/Mick Ronson on Piano Melotron String Arrangements & Ronson’s Other Worldly Guitar Solo 🎸 🔥🔥🔥 Makes Moonage Daydream “Ziggy Stardust’s Best Track on an Absolutely Amazing Bowie Signature Album
No. No. He was born the year this album was released, wasn't he? So no.. And Bowie has K.West above his head! Surely that says it all. Just goes to show how ahead of his time Bowie really was. He went out of his way to prepare us all for... Jesus Walks, I guess ? What you also have to think about and consider with your brain, though, is that Kanye constantly refers to himself as a genius just like how Bowie just got on with being an artist. Another parallel between them is that Bowie constantly reinvented himself just like Kanye dudn't.
Definitely the album's closer "Rock 'n' Roll Suicide" is a good listen. The next album is fantastic and also has some worthy listens: "Aladdin Sane" (title track), "Panic in Detroit", "Time", "Lady Grinning Soul"
As well as playing some awesome guitar, Mick Ronson did all the string arrangements for this album. Those freaky noised at the end are strings - violins I assume
We recommended that entire album for good reason, heh. 😀 Smoke a blunt is right. "Far out, far out"! For an extra special treat, check out Bowie performing "Moonage Daydream" as Ziggy Stardust for the last time ever at the Hammersmith Odeon in 1973. You might enjoy the reggae version of Moonage Daydream by Easy Star All Stars. They remade the entire ZS album and called it Ziggy Stardub. Way better than it probably sounds.
Moonage Daydream heralds the arrival of Ziggy; as a song, it always hooks new fans for Bowie
The solo guitar is bonkers, out of this planet
This song is timeless.
Mick Ronson's guitar work on this track is absolutely amazing
The live version from Ziggy Stardust the Motion Picture has the greatest live guitar solo of the 70s by Mick Ronson. A worthwhile watch for sure.

I love David Bowie and this is one of my favs!! sooooo good.
One of Bowie’s best! Try Rock and Roll Suicide, She shook me cold, Station to Station, to get started, any 70s Bowie is solid gold!

Fuck yes. You got it. Lady stardust next. Better yet, the whole album together and cut it
Bowie is one of the great artists of humanity.

One of the best songs on the album. Good guitar solo from the late Mick Ronson. Some of the best work from David Bowie.
Love Bowie❤

Mick Ronson’s tone is sublime.
Ending was violin/piano and a theramin on the guitar solo.

Oh hell yeah 👍 more Bowie ❤️❤️ Please play "Starman" for my dear friend Pam. RIP.
Yep, let's smoke up and enjoy ❤
Hey I have already done Starman and RIP To Pam
@@watchbizmatik Thank You anyway. ☮️😎✌️
Love this album Biz. I've loved it since it came out in 1972, five years before Kanye West was born.......😊

they should make a movie based on the actual album
@@watchbizmatik That would be cool...

Never boring
"The Jean Genie" is a great one by him. The one with the official video. I remember that one forever. Or "Life On Mars" with the official video
Bowie Baby!
The whole album thing might be interesting?... wat yall think? Leave a comment
Mick Ronson ❤
Kanye West wasn't even alive at that time.

Well lets say Kanye wasnt born yet the story still stands, actually it makes it more spooky
Let's say he was born on the day Ziggy was released. That would be even spookier!
@@WhaterEvererer-l5h true!
K West was a popular clothing shop on Carnaby Street in London.
Definitely the album's closer "Rock 'n' Roll Suicide" is a good listen. The next album is fantastic and also has some worthy listens: "Aladdin Sane" (title track), "Panic in Detroit", "Time", "Lady Grinning Soul"
It would be great to hear the rest of the album that you haven't reacted to yet.

Scary Monsters and Super Creeps is a great tune, from the same titled album.

K'WEst,....bizzare idea, near 40 years before -a location in London in 1972 -not likely as a theory, unless a Time Machine was used.
Lady Stardust 😊
After you reviewed this entire LP You need to check out the entire Diamond Dogs LP. They are both superior albums.
You need to do his first few albums.
First one for sure.
Not David Bowie….. it’s Ziggy Stardust 🤣😂❤️
Ziggy is a bi-sexual alien and he has come to Earth to save humanity from the impending apocalypse, ( set up in the previous song ,5 years)
it’s a lot
Panic in Detroit next please
It was a guitar...
thanks
That.
Is not.
A trumpet.
Yeah if you're smoking a s, it s gonna sound interesting
Bowie ✨
