- Thank you Amanda, Lisa and Matti for the kind and generous donations! We spent the weekend cleaning up debris in preparation for site grading and fencing bids. The Beaver Sanctuary non-profit paperwork has started as well!
Still no visits from Tater and Turnip 🥺 knowing it’s beaver dispersal season I hope they are out marking territory. Tater had been making scent mounds inside the enclosure.
Tulip has mastered climbing the stairs to get to the back door. She gets daily play and social time inside and out.

I never realized how much they look like groundhogs, prairie dogs etc. I stopped on a bike trail to look at the stream forming a small lake and saw a groundhog swimming like a champ. When he took a dive, I saw the tail and realized he was a beaver and also realized why the stream was slowed and pooling. Now I toss fruits and veggies in the area whenever I get a chance❤
She could not be any cuter or happier. I think her mission in life might be as an ambassador beaver, teaching children and adults how wonderful these animals are, how they should be respected, how their fur looks better on them than on anything else. I just love watching Tulip groom herself!

I would have the urge to put a Swiffer pad on her tail, so wherever she goes it stays nice and clean. Jk , she is so cute it hurts!
Tulip's job is never done...someone keeps moving her toys! Then, grooming...snacking, sleeping. And, of course, looking beautiful. Loving Tulip in all her roles. 🥰

Literally a busy beaver
Seeing how Tulip knows right where to go inside the house gives me hope that Tater and Turnip will eventually find their way back to visit. I love how Miss T appears to be showing her plushie how to groom, and how she lulls herself to sleep with her plushie. 💕💕💕
Such GOOD news that there are signs of Tater. Hopefully Turnip is with him. Leaving scent mounds means that Tater thinks of the land around the enclosure as his home and his territory. Fantastic that he (and hopefully Turnip too) will settle down around the sanctuary. As for Tulip!!!! ❤❤❤❤ Sweet sassy little lady climbing the stairs! She knows exactly where she wants to go and what work needs to be done when she visits her indoors lodge. She is so unique and special. ❤❤

@@sapphire7424 Holley put a note in the description that Tater has left scent mounds inside the enclosure! That indicates that he is marking out his territory as the dominant male. Hopefully shy Turnip is still with him. 😊

I agree, what an amazing ambassador she is for her species. Such beautiful, intelligent animals. People need to respect them and preserve them. Beavers are amazing and they should be allowed to live free and happy.

To think that if Tulip’s medical condition had not necessitated a change in plans, she would probably have been with the boys and would be gone too. Maybe it was a blessing in disguise. So happy you still have this little pumpkin, Holley. I know she will leave one day, but, right now, her presence is such a a boon.

I had not realised that building castor mounds was instinctive - I had wrongly assumed it was something a kit learns from its parents. But as Tater is capable of marking his territory, it should make finding out easier if he has translocated to the pond. Did his mounds have a pleasant vanilla scent?
