    When I backed up the head chef at a very popular pub here in Philadelphia, I used a small electric griddle for hours every day. Everything could be made on it that didn't require a direct flame broil. That little griddle saw so much action the restaurant bought another and we made a new station beside the prep board to do meats separately the vegan customers we had. Awesome product!

      How is the Vevor holding up? Does the grease and oil stay relatively within the surface when you have it on your counter? @@TheFoodExperience

      @@upload638 It is holding up very well. As long as you have it on a level surface it is perfectly an even playing field. But personally like this surface much better than the surface on the Blackstone adventure ready 22 that I have.

    What an outstanding video, I learned so much - always wanted a flattop at home. My kids love grilled cheese sandwiches, bacon/eggs, burgers, etc. And we love all the Korean fast food videos from around UA-cam (many use a flattop). Motivated me to get one, it's a way of cooking I can feel confident about! 👍 Thank you!

    Thank you so much for this outstanding review! I had considered getting a 3000W griddle for my son for Christmas (he loves cooking Japanese food), but those require a special plug/outlet, as well as special wiring in the house. When I noticed this one as an alternative (albeit, with a 22" wide surface, instead of 30"), I wasn't sure if 1600W would be powerful enough (and, I had my reservations about the 22" width). Your video put both of those fears to rest, and you really did a great job of describing its features, pros, and cons. I'm really excited about getting this griddle for my son. Thanks, again!!!!!

    I really want to get one of these but have you ever had it trip the breaker at your place? 1600watts not sure how many amps its drawing but I would worry that if I am running this, kitchen lights, etc, etc it might set off a 15amp breaker.

    • @TheFoodExperience
      @TheFoodExperience  27 днів тому

      @@VapnFagan Hey Mark!! This device will draw 14.5 amps. A 15 amp breaker with barely cut it and you may trip the breaker depending if there is anything else running on the same circuit. A 20 amp breaker would be recommended. If you know for sure you have an outlet that is not being shared with lights or anything else then you might be able to squeak by. Thank you so much for stopping by! Been a long time man.

It should be wired directly to the breaker box from what I understand. I would much rather have the dual zone version but since I live in an apartment I know it's not a viable option.

    • @TheFoodExperience
      @TheFoodExperience  Місяць тому

      You would not want to use vinegar on this. Barkeepers friend also a bad idea. Those would be great if it was a stainless steel surface like the ones used in most restaurants however the material of this griddle is iron and it should be seasoned and treated like a cast iron surface. If you use anything like that it will remove all the built up seasoning which is necessary for an iron surface to be non-stick.

      @TheFoodExperience  9 місяців тому +1

      Yeah I think I saw something like that. I'm not sure about the markings. All I do know is if I convert Celsius to Fahrenheit whatever I set it to is kind of a roundabout number. I wouldn't take the numbers for what they are. I know where to set it for what I'm cooking and I have a temperature probe to ensure I'm at the right temperature. The temperature control works okay but you may have to adjust it during cooking if you want to add a little extra from temperature drop when the food hits. It's not a lot and it does recover quickly.

    Did I just hear you talk smack about the Blackstone? 😲😠 Lol. J/k! That Vevor seems like it's pretty nice and a bit more "industrial" than the Blackstone. I ended up getting rid of my 22" Blackstone because the recovery time was just so bad, much worse than the 17" in my opinion. I do still like my 17" though and haven't had the sticking issues others have had with it, at least not yet. I recently bought a propane Blackstone but my time is so limited these days I haven't even seasoned it yet but hopefully can get to it soon. If you could watch that and make reference or at least look at the cleaning process, maybe it'll be more evident to you and to me. I thoroughly enjoy using this griddle. For me. It's a 5 out of five. Congrats! Thank you for finding the way to my videos. I love cooking on this device. Olive oil is not recommended. It is not capable of the higher heats that are needed to cook a lot of things on the griddle. What's recommended is a neutral flavor oil. Oils such as avocado, sunflower, safflower, peanut, canola, vegetable and those types of oils should be used. It's also very very important that you season the griddle as I showed in this video. Do not use olive oil for that.

      @@TinyTinkles avocado oil is definitely a good choice. It is very important when you season the surface that you use a very light layer of oil and make sure the heat is turned way up to at least 400°. If not hotter. An infrared heat gun is definitely a helpful tool. You want to make sure that the first layer starts smoking and burns all the way off before applying the second coat of oil. I would do that at least three times. I hope your burgers come out amazing!

      Thank you very much. I think they are calling the 22 a 21 now. First thing you have to consider in regards to the 29 is the electricity. The 29 uses 3000 watts and requires it to be directly wired to your breaker. The 14 and the 21 can be plugged into a standard 120 volt outlet. I thoroughly enjoy both the 14 and the 21 although the 21 is a much better size. I do notice the 14 heats up faster to higher temperatures. Although both of them easily reach temperatures over 550°.

      Yes, it is 1600 Watts which requires about 14 amps. It does come with a conventional 110 volt plug. Their dual zone products at 3000 Watts which require a bit over 27 amps. That version does not come with a plug at all. It's supposed to be wired direct to the breaker.

    I'm SO close to pulling the trigger on this thing, but my concern is how small the cooking surface is compared to some similar 24 inch models. The grease area on the face is huge and eats up a lot of space that could otherwise enable a larger cooking surface. • @TheFoodExperience

      Really depends what you're cooking and what temperature you have it at. The device itself doesn't make any smoke. However if you're cooking something like bacon at 400°. Expect to have just as much smoke as you would when cooking it on a frying pan on the stove. In fact expect the same smoke level as anything you would cook on the stove. Some people like to put their griddle on top of their stove so they can make use of the exhaust fan on their range.

      Correct, water and soap only the first time and that is because these griddles come with a manufacturing oil that is not really considered consumable. Also keep in mind this is a cast iron type surface. Not sure I would want to use it grill screen on it. For me I just scrape use a little water to get off the food particles, wipe down with paper towels and then re-oil. Definitely no soap should ever hit the griddle after it has been seasoned.

It is just an electricity hog though which I don't blame you one bit for not wanting to use. I will say this though, the surface on this is an iron surface and it retains heat a lot better than the Blackstone. When I turn it off takes a lot longer to cool down.

    • @TheFoodExperience
      @TheFoodExperience  4 місяці тому

      It is not stainless steel. I don't know how you got that information. If you go to the manufacturer's website it shows that body is stainless steel but the cooking plate is iron. I could tell you first hand that it does rust. If only I could post a picture here. I left the original device outside on my patio and the whole top is rust but the sides are not. Definitely an iron surface and should be treated and seasoned like a cast iron.

      I keep thinking about this comment and the more I think about it the more it does not make sense. There are all kinds of wet ingredients that people cook on griddles. Pretty sure it was designed with that in mind. When I squirt water on it it basically immediately steams and evaporates. Again I do thank you for your concern but I truly do not believe it is an issue.

      They do make a 3000 watt device. However is that one requires direct in line wiring to the circuit breaker. It also offers dual zones. I am quite happy with this and it definitely gets super hot and retains heat fairly well.

      I just rewatched the video and I'm not sure what food I got all over the place. There may have been a couple of peppers that went in the trough.
