A tip for those who are DIY at home..
You only need to drop the top steering knuckle bolt you don’t need to do both. I dropped both and my shock was extended enough to where it was a PITA to put back onto the knuckle :)
Really good video. Think I'm going to go for it.
Now that’s a great educational video! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Complimenti, molto bravo, intervento risolutivo❤
Super helpful info thank you for sharing
Very informative and helpful man, thank you, was racking my brain about this popping, rightward, slow turns only too. Same thing. Always stay hydrated in that hot climate, keep up the great content.
Glad it helped!
Great video man. It's amazing how much you remind me of myself. I'm always cussing and throwing crap. And there is always one thing that should be real easy that takes way too long....
Subaru axle replacement is one of the easiest repairs. We own 3 Subarus and I have replaced a bunch of them. It's a 20 minute job.
Thanks for the video :)
Thanks. I appreciate your sharing with us
My pleasure!
Thanks man, doing this on my 17 today. Awesome video, right to the point. And thanks for calling out the sizes as you used em!
Glad to help
thank you for your video. I used it to replace the front axles on a Subaru 2014 XV Crosstrek that was making a horrible sound. I used Trakmotive axles, though. I owe you baked goods as your education is worth at least $600 in this case and I'm likely going to attempt the rear axles too.
Glad it helped
@@AutoRepairTips757 your help is invaluable
Thanks help me a lot
glade it helped
Thanks 🙏
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Same process for the rear axles? great video
This video and most of the thread cracked me up. It was like watching Beavis & Butt-Head all over again
Thank you. What are the torque values for the fasteners?
Awesome vid, thank you lots!
So no need to drain the transition oil, the axle pops out without oil leaking out?
It will a little you outta change it while your in there
Is it the same for 2011 Imprezas?
Solid video, another one I saw made a comment about the two 19mm bolts for the strut, and to make sure they're torqued to their alignment marks? I've got a 2014 I'm looking to do this replacement on, but I don't necessarily have pneumatic tools or a breaker bar to loosen tough stuff up.
some auto parts stores have tools you can use
@@AutoRepairTips757 that's a good tip. If I'm only doing the front axles, should I have the whole car on stands or is it safer to only have the front?
Removing strut bolts, requires an alignment.
What about replacing the stud??
How many ugga duggas do we torque the strut bolts to?
3 😂
Great video, small issue with my 2014 XV. The struts do not align with the bolt holes on the knuckle. Anyone have an idea how to fix this?
Not sure what you mean
I love that you used a real Suburu drive shaft but why didn't you torque anything? Also the top strut bolt is a camber bolt you are supposed to mark it before removing it now you need a wheel alignment!
he had an appointment for tires and alignment
@@AutoRepairTips757 OK then,I am doing this same job on monday you make it look easy!
Where is the “top strut bolt”?
Do you know the torque specs for all those bolts removed??
No but I can get them just email me your car info
@@AutoRepairTips757 I have a 2013 subaru crosstreck I replaced the front axles but wasn't sure about the torque specs 🤔
I have to say after buying a Subaru I am surprised how affordable OEM parts are from them. They don't try and empty your wallet...I am looking at you Stellantas
Whatt?? Dude. It's 400 dollars for one axle from subaru. Or like 100 for 2 from everywhere else.
@@jordanpostal this video and most of the thread cracked me up. It was like watching Beavis & Butt-Head all over again
gee i wonder who cross threaded it... as youre spinning nuts on with your impact, at an angle, five mins later... hahahaha
This video and most of the thread cracked me up. It was like watching Beavis & Butt-Head all over again
That will need an alignment
Not, if you mark where the strut exactly is before removing strut bolts. Top one is concentric. By turning it you can adjust alignment exactly where it was if you marked it before removal.
I need to do this job on my ‘16. Do I need to get it aligned afterwards
@@blackchevy9886if you mark exactl position of bolt head, alignment should be same. Top bolt is a lobed bolt that changes camber by rotating its position.
The top strut bolt is oblong for a camber adjustment and he failed to mark it so now yes an alignment. He sucks !!!
I usually undo the lower control arm to avoid the camber bolt
And this is why I don't take my car to a garage . 👎👎
And? Some people aren’t mechanically inclined
Why? He fixed the problem
