►Replacing the rear brake pads and rotors on your BMW G01 X3 is a great way to get involved with your car. The replacement process is straightforward and gives you insight into how a very important system functions. It's also one of the best ways to ensure your X3 remains as safe as possible for you and your surroundings.
Worn brake pads and rotors are typically accompanied by a grinding sound, a juddering under braking, or deep grooves cut into the rotor face-if not a combination of all three. However, the pad wear sensor connected to the caliper will also flash a warning message on your instrument cluster, alerting you to their remaining life.

Excellent tutorial.
What consumer grade scan tools will do the EPB reset? I just bought an Innova 5610 and it won't do it. I cannot justify a pro lever scanner to do a brake job.

Yes, as long as the vehicle is equipped with the standard (silver) brakes and not the blue painted calipers.
