I am a shift worker and I love my moto g5 because it has a built in app when I lay my phone on its screen it goes in to do not disturb mode.
For alarms, what is covered under that term? If I chose to silence all alarms, does that mean only a set alarm clock? Or does "alarm" include alarms like emergency notifications for things like tornado warnings?
I define an emergency alert as an alarm. So I'm really hesitant to mess with that option. That said, nobody has ever define what Android means by alarm.
Also, I've been burned with the loose application of "important" notifications by apps, so do apps have the ability to define their notifications as 'alarms' and thus circumvent the do not disturb settings?
Hiya Tech Gumbo. I've been very confused by this function on Android. Let me ask you this: if I follow your instructions above will I have a phone that will go silent at night (at a time I choose) and come back to life in the morning (at a time I choose) and basically be able to leave the phone in priority mode to do this?
What I'm doing now is turning the phone silent at night and on in the morning -- but sometimes I forget to move my switch. This tutorial and setting can fix that?

This question is for a Motorola Android. Does anybody have problems with their phone automatically going on do not disturb without them physically putting it on?
Seriously - someone can't shut the thing off ?? A person calls you CAN STILL SEE WHO CALLED! But have it on Do not Disturb? At leat they could have put a message on the bloody thing that says it is on 'DO NOT DISTRUB" Oh, but wait that would mean the person is incapable of thinking straight.
