Jalen McGhee It was a computer graphics project where we had to take song lyrics and outline a shape that relates to that song using the lyrics. I chose Do the Mario, so for the shape I outlined Captain Lou as Mario.
So as we learned last night: -Vinny found the Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 to be a step down from the Super Show, citing that he disliked the Koopa Kids' voices and their parody songs (the only one I like myself is "My Kuroobi", and that's only because the instrumental was used in place of the copyrighted songs from the original Super Show episodes...) -He said the Mario World Cartoon was his least favorite of the cartoons, citing Yoshi as having the worst voice for one (there's also the fact its budget was _not_ up to snuff with the former two cartoons, Oogtar being a dick, among others) -Vinny's Mario is just King Koopa with a Brooklyn accent. Who knew?
Disappointed in Vin. Mario 3 cartoon is easily the best out of the three. It had the good animation of the Super Show, AND plots that weren't just half assed movie "parodies". Other than the characters and sound effects, literally nothing from the Super Show resembled anything from the games. Mario 3 cartoon actually has locations from the game, and they look pretty accurate. You also had cool remixes of music from the game. Super show only had like what, 3 songs from the game, if even?
@@blueyosh43 @blueyosh43 Honestly, I'm inclined to agree with Vinny. SMBSS might have been a piece of crap, but it at least was it was entertaining (even if it was mostly for the wrong reasons) and far more watchable compared to the other two shows. AOSMB3 had incredibly boring and shallow plots despite it not parodying stuff. Just the episode titles alone like "Recycled Koopa", "True Colors", "Mind your mummy, Mario", "Beauty of Kootie", "Toddlers Terrors of Time Travel" and "The Ugly Mermaid" are enough to drive anyone away from trying to watch them. SMW is even worse in this regard because nearly every episode in the show revolves around Mario and Luigi reinventing modern niceties in Dinosaur Land. Being closer to the source material doesn't mean anything when your episodes are like watching paint dry and Mario himself is boring and lacks the same charisma he had in Super Show. I would honestly take Super Show's array of bad parodies over AOSMB3's real world bullshit and SMW's caveman garbage. Captain Lou not reprising his role as Mario is a massive disappointment, as Walker Boone sounds way too gruff for the character. And Super Show did have some decently written original episodes that weren't parodies like Princess Toadstool do you take this Koopa?, Trojan Koopa, Flatbush Koopa, Plumber's Academy and Brooklyn Bound. Heck, some of the parodies weren't even that bad like Butch Mario and the Luigi Kid, The Unzappables, Escape from Koopatraz and The Great Gold Coin Rush. Saying nothing from the show resembling anything from the games isn't really true either when we saw Goombas, Koopa Troopas, Piranha Plants, Shy Guys, Bob-ombs, Fire Flowers, Starmen and Coins on a regular basis. I think it doesn't seem particularly Mario-like to most people because it lacks the other more crucial staples like Boos, Thwomps, Dry Bones and Chain Chomps but those weren't introduced until SMB3, which wasn't released in the U.S. until five months after Super Show went on the air. As for music, Micheal Tavera's SMB3 remixes are certainly good, but they don't have quite the same instrumental quality Shuki Levy and Haim Saban provided for their arranges of SMB 1 and 2's music, especially their ones of SMB1's underworld theme in particular. Compared to AoStH and *especially* SatAM, Super Show is closer to the Mario franchise than the first two Sonic cartoons were to it's own source material. You have to remember that in 1989 there was only SMB1 and SMB2 USA to draw from when Super Show was in production. Those games did not have descript worlds like SMB3 and SMW did. Also AOSMB3 has *worse* animation than Super Show. This is especially considering Saban Entertainment and Viacom dropped DiC after Super Show's run and why it and SMW were paired up with Captain N's later seasons. Super Show does have far more animation and dubbing errors though, but this is likely due to having more episodes produced than the other two and being on a stricter deadline.
