Wow, fantastic interview one of the icons Jeffrey Daniels man you guys were driven to be famous and definitely. You will go down history as the originator of the moonwalk. Michael Jackson will never have been great if it was for you and you could take that to the bank😂, I’m grateful Don Cornelius, but Don got over You guys paying you with fried chicken and coleslaw knowing that it was you young guys who were the stars of the show you use your own wardrobe and your own creativity to make that show work💯🙁, God bless you. I pray that you are in good spirits and living in peace. Thank you for sharing your story💕😌
Folks don't know it by Tyrone was supposed to be in the group Shalamar. At the time Don Cornelius wanted to put together a groups of dancers from Soul Train who would go on to become a music group. Tyrone was stuck doing some projects in NYC so he couldn't make it back to LA. So Howard Hewitt who was not a Soul Train dancer was brought in to be the third member of the group that would go on to become known as Shalamar. Props to Jody, Jeffrey and Tyrone as well as Howard for being able to keep things going for so long. They could have just turned "old" and disappeared .... RIP Tyrone ... we all love you ...
I remember. She performed "Never Knew Love Like This" on American Bandstand, and she announced they had married the day before she appeared on the show.
Yes I do. June 1980 . It was my first visit to L.A. and it was a one week visit. I had become friends with the original founding members of Kool & the Gang in 1975 1976 . So I was backstage at Disneyland for a show where K&TG and Shalamar were performing for the graduating high school seniors. When Sir Earl Toon who was the second lead vocalist in K&TG told me that he had just been informed that Stephanie Mills and Jeffrey Daniels had married earlier that day. Stephanie Mills was backstage that night. My other memory of that night witnessing for the first time the backslide when Jeffrey did it while performing with Shalamar. That was June 1980. The second time I would see the backslide would be on a NBC-TV Special Motown 25 ( May 1983) when Michael Jackson used it
