- This is my all DIY 2 degrees of freedom motion simulator.
I built:
- Custom frame built to support motion in 2 degrees of freedom
- Wiring and electric system
- Embedded software to power the chair
- Control software to extract data from simulator games
- A pedal set based on Heusinkveld Ultimate pedals -
Recently I made a new video about this simrig, explaining the noise issue it had and how I solved it. You can watch it here: ua-cam.com/video/cOzFBA4LK_w/v-deo.html
That's crazy! Really shocked that VW wiper motor can support so much weight. Would love a video explaining how it works :) Motion sims are so expensive so hats off to you for this!
The "cheapest" one I found is around 1800€ with shipping

Love it mate, what an amazing bit of sim racing DIY.
Well, that's an awesome simulation rig!
Awesome. I hope after two years you still plan on showing those details. I like the simple design.
Amazing ! Cheap and sturdy. I would make this if some free time and friend welder :)
I am interested in the software for the telemetry and the rest. Could you do follow up videos please.
Really nice, amazing how quiet it is
There are some rumors though.. I've heard that the coil whine is insane.
@@tomtom-m-old oh that doesn't sound that good, but I also noticed the plastic sticker still on the Logitech logo on his gear shift.
Great job.
Awesome! 👏🏻
I hope you include parts list and maybe your program aswell, would love to build this too
Superb
gracias
Hello, what motors wipers models you use?
HI, That's crazy, and have you any plan of electric system?? Thanks for help
Nice!!
Hi ,can u explain what function capacitor.how to connect .
look nice
What is the output of the wiper motors? I read a paper theorizing how wiper motors with the aid of hydraulic were capable of 30A (360W) but always thought there was an error. Then I found some golf car lifts at 250W. I’d speculate you used a super old motor right? I bet as tech evolved, OEMs got more efficient. But up cycling old, inefficient tech in this sort of efficient way is outright brilliant!
The whole system draws more that 450 Watt when peaking, constant is around 300 Watt. I have two motors and they both came from an older model VW van. Although I think not much older than ~10 years at most. A van has a large windshield and thus needs a wiper motor with more power. I tried a wiper motor from an older Micra which was not up to the task at all.
What software do you use
Teria um tutorial ensinando como faz?
Hey mate you did a great job......if possible please upload a detailed video on how you made it, with complete wiring scheme and software calibration..... especially I wanted to know, which motor driver you have used in this build it's (BTS7960) or (MONSTER MOTO SHIELD VNH2SP30), I am trying to make one but I am not completely successful in this project, I need your help.
Btw your work has really fascinated me a lot......👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks! I am planning on making another video with some more details but it's not high on my priority list. I did use two BTS7960 motordrivers for this build (as I have 2 motors).
@@LogLeg I will be waiting for that video......but can you provide me the software and Arduino code?????
Btw thanks for your reply...😊😊
what is the dimensions of where you mounted the wheelbase? is that 1x2 or 1x3?
it's 2.5 by 5 cm
hello mate, do you create your own software for graphing? do you have resource git for that?
i'm afraid not
May I ask a question. Can these wiper motors be back driven ? I mean, when you turn off the power when they are supporting the rig, what happens ? Do they maintain the position, or do they slump downwards under the weight of the rig.Thanks.
they do indeed collapse. Although it's really difficult to do this by hand as the nature of the worm drive inside is to brake. The weight of the rig is enough to make it go down.
@@LogLeg Thanks for that answer
if u need software for more things gram simhub.. then grab some tactile transducers add those and it will be pretty solid.. how much does something like this cost to build.
Awesome…
So wDoF just means youre controlling 2 axis’s? A 2DoF rig’s controlled axis depends on what axis the builder wants to control?
yes, I could for example add a third Degree of Freedom which could be up and down movement. It doesn't matter what kind of movement it is.
Nice project.. I already built a 3DOF using commercial grade motors but trying to build a 2DOF seatmover with WW motors.. I have a full build series going but those motors.. meh.. not very powerful.. take a look and give me a hint if you have time >>DMAX motion sim ch
Fantastic work! Can I ask approximately what you weigh and upper platform with seat?
no clue, guessing about 100 kilos combined?
@@LogLeg Thanks.
Looking for instructions..
What software you use for the motor?
I wrote my own
I'm about to embark on my own project. How long are the arms you used on the motors?
about 4,5cm from heart to heart. The arms were already attached to the motors as a piece from the windscreen wiper mechanism.
@@LogLeg thanks buddy. What wattage are those motors? And what did you use as a power xonverter?
@@terryteed1903 I used two BTS7960's to drive the motors. I measured about 300 watts of constant powe usage but the peaks are higher than 450 watts (thats the rated power of rhe psu I use right now). I use a reasonably large capacitor to handle the peaks.
@@LogLeg I've got DAF 24V wiper motors for mine so I'm hoping they will cut the mustard. I need to get my head around the power ratings so that I order the correct PSU and not blow the motors up.🤯
@@terryteed1903 I guess that would totally work 👍
The most SAFEst DRIVING
NO INJURY OR ACCIDENT OCCUR TO BODY 💪🏻
How much roughly did this cost all together
waiting for an answer
How much kilos can these motors take?
no clue :D
Do you have a video of the building?
Unfortunately not
The fact that you did all this and you still use a g920 amazes me no hate but may ned to upgrade that sson😂
Those HE ultimates are heavily modded. Curious to see what y ou did with them!
I designed them myself, based on the HE ultimates. Every part is custom in that sense
@@LogLeg Have you shared any info on them?
@@josephbornman8462 not yet ;)
Mind sharing the code
Can you give me the design
What value is this blue capacitor ?
10.000 uF. But it's not enough :(
Not sufficient ? in what sense ? what exactly is its function ? @@LogLeg
@@TheAttylapl It's to help with the peak power draws from the motor. The powersupply is 450 watt but it still struggles when the motors are moving fast
Why did you not use SimHub to get the telemetry? Edit: BTW Awesome Work!
I wanted to try it myself.
@@LogLeg excellent! I like it!
hi! What u joint?😊
Some BMW
How is no one talking about the fact there's no room at all for legs ? That looks incredibly uncomfortable, having to have your knees squashed in like that
Its not bad at all. Way more space than in an F1 car :)
F1 drivers are very low, with legs raised to just below head height. Seems like the seat is too high and doesn't match the rig
that welds...
1:44 Still waiting for the videos
:( Yeah me too. I have been working on it but I have so little time.
@@LogLeg oh it’s good to hear you’re still here at least, haven’t seen you in the comments on this video and it’s been a while so thought you either gave up or finished and moved on, it’s a really well made video and motion rig too so hopefully you get some time to finish
extra!

lol all this for a cheap Logitech wheelbase 😂😂😂😂😂
