One winter day my 8.5 months pregnant wife and I decided to go camping at Crystal. On the way up the hill just past east fork it started snowing. So we went back downtown the hill and bought a few tarps and loaded up on food and firewood. Drove back up the hill, by the time we got to the lake camp ground there was 6 inches of snow on the ground. We set up camp as the rest of the campers there pulled up stakes and hightailed it out of there. We had a nice dinner while it continued to snow. We bundled up and went to sleep in the erie quiet. In the morning there was more than 2 feet of snow on the ground. magnificent ! I made a monstrous breakfast while enjoying the view. A few hours later I could hear a truck way off in the distance. An hour latter a snow ploughing appeared in the distance. I hoped out loud they weren’t thinking they were rescuing us…….behind the truck was a horde of them, “city folk”, destroying our winter solitude, So we pack up and start driving. While I was driving out a snow ball hit my window, I looked over and saw a bunch of them taking aim on me. Two can play this game says I as I drove into the gutter and gassed my car….snow chains were really good at throwing a ton of snow back at them. That was 45 years ago. We are still married and still camping!
Wow, this brought back memories of my childhood . When I was only 11 yrs old , my friends of mine and I lived in city of La Puente. , we used to ride our bikes up to Azusa canyon every weekend , that stretch of hwy 39 before the climb was all dairy properties and we rode there and ride the river down with our inner tubes. It was a great 5 mile ride down the river
Cool video, u guys should check out hermit falls it’s an rewarding hike. However the last time I went they were doing road maintenance so it was closed. If it’s still closed them I recommend Eaton canyon falls.
