Yes please. Especially for us editors that are a one stop shop. It's challenging charging when you're not just cutting. I cut, sound edit, sound mix, sound design, create billing blocks and color.
I’ve been editing for about 5 years and only started freelancing for a few months now and watching this has opened my eyes to how I should charge. $60 per short form video? I’ve been charging $15 😂 things are definitely going to change
@@eSportsGamingOfficial update, I upped my price and had to bring it down again 😂😂😂 no one was ordering especially seeing people offering the same job for $5
Always love the FEP Knowledge drops! @10:09 - Very Important. To add, don't sacrifice your rate for "the amazing once-in-a-lifetime" project. I did this to get a gig at a big movie trailer house. I touched most AAA movie trailers in 2015 but my personal finance and quality of life took a big hit. Went back to reality TV at double the rate and I haven't looked back since.
@@FilmEditingProwhen I click the link it takes me to a Google sheets tab, asking me if I want to make a copy of the file. Which I click yes, it takes me to another page saying “Sorry, Unable to open the file at this time.” I’ve tried on my phone, and two different computers and get the same message every time so I was confused. This sheet would be super helpful for me which is why I’m trying so hard to access it
a lot of great information, thanks! bytheway, do you guys have an avid media composer online course? im a premiere pro users now, but kind a feel to switch back to avid
I've been a commercial editor in LA for 15 years. A freelance assistant editor makes $500-600/day. A commercial editor starts at about $1200/day, and the big guys are pulling $2500-$4000/day. That's been the same rate for the 20 years I've been in post. If you're making $60 for a 60 second video then I don't know how you're surviving.
It’s a podcast based job, im going to be the editor… should I just approach this like any other youtube video and just up the quality?? How much should I ask for?? Let them go first?? What do I do?! 🫨😭
Let us know if you’d like us to make a whole course on the business of freelancing and editing. 👍🎬😁
Would love to take an editing freelance financial course! Looking to switch careers and I’m very anxious about finances 😅

That would be amazing, thank you!

This channel is so good but this vid didn’t live up to it. It’s pure fluff

Follow the logic and calculation process in the video to figure out your day rate and approach it from that angle.
So detailed and helpful video 🥹🥹, thank you to that beautiful angel for enlightening me 🫡
