This IP deserves so much better than this. They are intentionally making changes they don't have to make. I'm all for making changes in order to make something work on screen because you only have so many episodes to show a story but changing things for the sake up changing them is stupid. Even for new people who have no knowledge of the books or games, the Netflix plot has become convoluted and half-bakerd, and routinely contradicts or retcons itself. It is basically a dumb dialogue on hownpower corrupts that we have seen a million times in every fantasy series. Knowing the books and games only makes it worse.
I liked the "series", but only because I consider it as Dandelions "nightmare", he passed out or he lost his mind for a moment because he couldn't cope with all the fighting around him, and he wrote a song while he was "passed out". And the song, if it becomes a thing, he just had read a book or heard something about the story of the series before and he came up with it.
I’ve never read the books and I’m really new to this show, but I absolutely love the series. I understand if I was a long time fan and read the books I would’ve been disappointed, but I honestly am happy about this series
Really wish they had actually adapted the books instead of just making shit up and slapping a Witcher veneer on it. Sapkowski is a duck but I can see why he dropped out so quickly. This goes beyond what happened with Game of Thrones. It’s so far off-book it’s something totally different. And it’s not even that good. If it was different but still good, it wouldn’t be so bad but it’s not good.
I think the Witcher show probably has really bad writers and the only reason S1 was successful was because of Cavil the books and the games. The further they move away from the books the worse the show gets and further they move away from the video game visual style the more people make fun of it and now Cavil has left they have nothing.
they didnt go on accident balor sent them there and said, "where ever this sends you, may you burn for all eternity". and then they set out on revenge, therefor (the wild hunt)
This show was so boring…I left it and started watching Half Bad Bastard son and the Devil Himself gotta say I didn’t think it would be much better but I’m running out of new things to watch and honestly it was better. The Witcher series and spin offs deserve what’s coming for their betrayal to the lore and trying to burn Henry Cavill
@@FrankM812 she had literally everything to do with it. It was HER the decided to change the lore. I just watched Witcher origin it was awesome. I can't expect too much from video game movies but this is pretty good now onward to the game! Oh yeah the music is awesome I love that singing!
Witcher Blood Origin was a lot of fun, the filming locations of Iceland were stunning, Bear McCreary’s soundtrack was amazing, Fjall was my favorite character, really enjoyed the show, added a lot to the world of the Witcher 👏👏👏👏
The blood origin series was so rushed. Thanks for breaking it down cause I was lost lol. I don't play the games or read the books so this was very helpful
5:30 I remember ciri speaking with this other worldly being in the time of contempt books, right when she finally made it out of the desert. i think that strange woman in the show and that other worldly being might be the same.
@@JTCH22 It does seem kinda similar though! this being took all of Ciri's powers, just like how they gave them all to the dood in the blood origin show! its my little glimmer of hope someones paying attention lol
I'm current reading the books and I'm about half way through book 4, I was under the impression that the being in the desert was some kind of representation of falka who doesn't exist in the time of blood origin? I might have misunderstood though
Same old crappy fighting scenes where the bad guy always ALWAYS swings high with his weapon exposing himself up to an inevitable death. Come directors, who does that?
I thought the show was entertaining enough but should NOT been shoehorned into the Witcher "canon". The people they hire to adapt the IPs always try to write these shows to appeal to everyone BUT the actual fans of the IP and end up making everyone unhappy.
I felt like if they had 1-2 more episodes with Blood Origin, people wouldn't have shitted on it so much. I was starting to get into it in the 3rd episode, but then it ended so quickly in episode 4. If they expanded on the story a bit more, I think it wouldn't have been hated so much. Seeing the origin story behind Avallach and Ereden was a really nice touch. For me, they were such mysterious characters that suddenly disappeared in the last book so the final battle between Vilgefortz could take place.
I enjoyed blood origin but didn't think it was nearly as good as the regular Witcher series. I kind of expected more. It did seem a little disjointed and like they skipped over a lot to try to cram it all into four episodes.
Man, the monologue is rather difficult to follow. You could probably structure the thoughts better when you're putting it all together in the video. I hope you take it constructively. Really felt as though you were hopping from one thought to another. The random words and visuals thrown around doesn't really help at all. The descriptions feel more than necessary, you could probably avoid repeating some things.
Watched 15 min into the first ep, decided to check rating off IMDB, result resonated with how I felt then. Decided to check out your vid instead and save myself 10 hours-ish😅
@@villam215 Omg…. I thought resident evil netflix was dragging or the lord of the rings of power, lol I felt like the first episode was so sluggish that I would rather go wash dishes lol
There was 7 books worth of material to draw from and expand on. If the writers wanted to flat out make shit up then fine. Just don't stick The Witcher in the title. Witcher in name only.
this is basically wat they wanted to do with the witcher but they can do because there is noting and still call it "inspired by". This is a rings of power for the witcher.
I think when people translate books and other media like comics or video games into movies or TV shows, they should do it as best they can to the original idea... Then if they reboot it down the line, like with the many different Batman Spider-Man and Superman movie series... Then have some fun with it. I just don't understand this oh you don't understand We reinvented reinvention... Stupid.
if you turn on the (SD) subtitles, when the misterious woman speaks whith Balor, the name Falka appears before the lines. So it´s her. Another thing ruined by netflix
My assumption based on the witcher season 3 casting is that they're turning Falka into the "white frost". And just saying she's a time traveler who also learned to use the gates.
It feels like the show version of it all is going to tie everything from the books and games together into one grand narrative, I’d guess at least seven seasons if people don’t hate Liam Hemsworth too much.
Even if they wanted that, they've already started contradicting themselves in this series. What are the monoliths? Farming equipment or gateways? Why didn't we meet more dwarves? They are literally talking out of their arses and none of it matches.
Let’s be honest here The Witcher will be canceled after this last season. Blood Origin wasn’t so much confusing the pacing was the problem as well as the choppy.
So without Henry they are Retconing the entire story. Henry wouldn't have it, so they got rid of him. Season 3 is the last season I'll watch only because I know Henry probably over performed whilst maintain a little bit of the actually story that the writers do not want to tell. The rest of its just crazy, they are horrible writers and they'd have to be insanely narcissistic to think anybody is going to want to watch this show that has nothing to do with the IP and a new actor to replace the guy that cared about telling the story accurately.
It already kinda sucked _with_ him, but he was almost singlehandedly elevating it just enough so I could look past it. Hearing how he was treated though and seeing how they are now gnawing at his feet like toothless ghouls... Yeah. Good luck with that. I mean, seriously, nutsack armour reveal even before season one started said everything we needed to know about the show runners.
What this series did for me and a lot of my friends is. Make us want the story of the Dwarven kingdom and how the elves brought them down. We see lots about humans and now elves but I really want more on the other races!

on one hand, I'm not a fan of straying away from what i find familiar. i would love nothing more than to see even an anime of R.A. Salvatore's Drizzt series, a well made live action series would be better, but i don't trust anyone to make it correctly. on the other hand, i recognize that while there are many good universes put to pen and paper, they are finite constructs and rarely make sense outside of the mind of the author. hence, when adapted to video, a lot must be dealt with early to provide a functional continuity for future episodes of a series. even worse, most novels are on average around 300 pages; most novels only translate to video with about 10 pages roughly equaling about a minute of screentime, so a lot must be added to fill out an hour long episode of a series, or even more for a two hour feature length film. the worst part is, if it is to be a good show for everyone that watches it, they can't know everything that is going to happen. if someone made the Drizzt book series into a video, I've read the books so many times that i would know every part coming up based on nothing but the dialogue; books made into video **must** be different enough that the avid readers won't know what's going to happen. also, for those who have read the books or played the games only once or twice, the video must be different enough that it keeps their interest, that it makes them want to watch it more than once. basically, video adaptations of books and games can't be so faithful to so much of the books and games that the audience will already know everything that will happen. this is why all of these adaptations are failing, despite some of the people involved being very good at what they do, but are now being vilified for "straying from the source material." try writing a story based on a story that someone else has written, but make it unique, but make it the same, but make it different, but make it better, but make it more, without adding any of your own ideas, nor taking away any of the original ideas. if that sounds stupid, then that's how the fans of books and games adapted to video sound to me 🤷🏼♂️
@@budgiecat9039 i agree. that the writers have expressed contempt for the books, games or both is really rude. I'm not taking about that tho. that's just obviously ridiculous and this whole "Cavill leaving Witcher" thing feels like a power play; like, the writers want to prove that Cavill wouldn't leave because they're straying too far from the source, but Cavill was like "oh really? ok. later ✌️🤷🏼♂️"
LOTR was a good adaptation. Clearly there were things that were changed but the point of an adaptation isn't to just change shit for no reason. If people who have read the books know what's going to happen it's okay because they know the story. There's a reason the original story was successful. The point is to bring it to the screen with good pacing.
blood origin is just a watse i dont know why netflix has invested in this limited series or spin offs... its a FLOP... just admit it geralt of ravia and yeneffer has already its momentum so why do a blood origin and just waste away your finance with this flop series?
You’re being generous Charlie. Blood Origins was awful to the point of being almost unwatchable. They better hope the entire franchise isn’t going in this direction; or they’ll never make it to season 4.
For sure BO was rushed dumping as many origin things together as possible. Ended up unrefined, asking for criticism. Ereding picking up skull for his helmet was unnecessary - for a veteran soldier (as implied) to replace helmet for a random skull and use it for next 1200 years should have to have a deeper context. I do wonder, if they had refined just few of their origin ideas, could it have been successful enough where they would have gotten budget for more future spinoff series that could refine other origins ideas? We may never find out due to this failure. Taking time and care, even when you diverge from books could have made Netflix Witcher a bigger success. Edit: I do want to add that S1 of main series was well done with care. Perhaps tough to understand for casual watcher due to time parallel but it was done much more carefully.
as someone who likes fantasy stuff causally, I never read the books or played the game, i found the withcer season one confusing, season 2 felt more understandable, and blood origin to me was more condensed and easily digested, i suppose from a fans point of view, you want cannon, and quality character story telling and plot, but i suppose from a tv stand point to get non fans onbaord this was a way to go if not well recieved from fans, but i did still have to come here and watch this to understand how it fit in, the withcer universe is very confusing to me id better stick to sci fi

Idk bruh, I enjoyed it. Might be because I haven't read the books and only played witcher 3.
@@ren9143 even witcher 3's established lore contradicts with this series especially the first witcher origin.
In the start when the time freezes i thought of master mirror lol
This show make rings of power masterpiece.
I think the Witcher show probably has really bad writers and the only reason S1 was successful was because of Cavil the books and the games. The further they move away from the books the worse the show gets and further they move away from the video game visual style the more people make fun of it and now Cavil has left they have nothing.
This is exactly right. S1 was actually great, the timeline swapping wasn’t added to dramatic tension. Actually smart writing.
they didnt go on accident balor sent them there and said, "where ever this sends you, may you burn for all eternity". and then they set out on revenge, therefor (the wild hunt)
Sad that they aren’t renewing that show. It was half decent once it took off
@@FrankM812 no, it’s good. Fuck Lauren. She had numerous seasons to be lore accurate and each time she chose not to.
@@edwardrichtofen8530 what are you taking about? Did you read the comment i was referring to? Lauren had nothing to do with it you effing walnut
@@FrankM812 she had literally everything to do with it. It was HER the decided to change the lore. It was HER who allowed writers and team never sees to just blatantly bash the Witcher source material behind the scenes. It was also HER who led to Henry cavil leaving. She is shit at her job. She deserves losing it and this series burning.
@@edwardrichtofen8530 i made a comment about the bastard son and the devil himself…. Not the Witcher. I can’t stand the Witcher shows. We’re on the same side Moron

I just watched Witcher origin it was awesome. I can't expect too much from video game movies but this is pretty good now onward to the game! Oh yeah the music is awesome I love that singing!
It's not based on the games it's based off the books. That came out in tne 90's.
@@brandonpick1486 thanks for the info
read the books. its worth it 😎
The female elf mage charecter is playing both sides. Shes also the chaos orb.
ahh, time travel, that can explain everything it seems. Between time travel and (chaos) magic, anything can happen.
Have you read the source material for this IP?
I totally misunderstood. I thought that was the first Witcher, not Elderblood
Witcher Blood Origin was a lot of fun, the filming locations of Iceland were stunning, Bear McCreary’s soundtrack was amazing, Fjall was my favorite character, really enjoyed the show, added a lot to the world of the Witcher 👏👏👏👏
What’s going on with that movie or mini series showing the real first Witcher that Jason Momoa was supposed to be in!! ??
The blood origin series was so rushed. Thanks for breaking it down cause I was lost lol. I don't play the games or read the books so this was very helpful
Oh god please play the game or read a book, I don’t want your head canon for The Witcher to be these awful shows
Same, also him showing clips from season 2 you can quickly notice and compare the higher quality picture from the original series
5:30 I remember ciri speaking with this other worldly being in the time of contempt books, right when she finally made it out of the desert. i think that strange woman in the show and that other worldly being might be the same.
I think you give the people making the show too much credit, thinking they care about the books like that.
I don’t think the writers have read the books tbh
@@JTCH22 It does seem kinda similar though! this being took all of Ciri's powers, just like how they gave them all to the dood in the blood origin show!
its my little glimmer of hope someones paying attention lol
@@lukeylouk1 I’m glad you can be more optimistic than me lol. I guess my standards for adaptation are too high.
Made me re-watch S1 and S2
I enjoyed it. It feels like a standalone miniseries though.
Yeah
I'd have to agree, I could have done with more fleshing out of the characters and story, say double the amount of episodes.
I thought the show was entertaining enough but should NOT been shoehorned into the Witcher "canon". The people they hire to adapt the IPs always try to write these shows to appeal to everyone BUT the actual fans of the IP and end up making everyone unhappy.
4 episodes was shockingly perfect for this. Basically, an incursion has occured lol
So...since man of steel doesn't have Cavil can we have him back?🤔
He's into Warhammer
😔
I actually loved this mini-series. Really, really loved something after a very long time. Even more than the Henry Cavil Witcher series.
I enjoyed blood origin but didn't think it was nearly as good as the regular Witcher series. I kind of expected more. It did seem a little disjointed and like they skipped over a lot to try to cram it all into four episodes.
I just finished watching it and you dropped just time as usual Mr Charlie 🤘🏾😎🤘🏾💯

Thanks for the breakdown because I wasn’t planning on watching this show 😂
There was 7 books worth of material to draw from and expand on. If the writers wanted to flat out make shit up then fine. Just don't stick The Witcher in the title. Witcher in name only.
Charlie quick with it.
No problem!
this is basically wat they wanted to do with the witcher but they can do because there is noting and still call it "inspired by". This is a rings of power for the witcher.
I have this feeling the chaos energy is volith meir................
why is eriden even screwing anyone. dude should just be hallow and evil
So the guy in the blue robe did figure out time travel. He mentioned it to the empress but she didn’t listen
If they all die I'll watch.
7% audience score on rotten tomatoes. Can't wait to be cancelled after season 3
To be honest the 7% doesn't mean that it sucks. It's just fans that are mad because cavil left
@@sirdromos2769 If that was the only reason it would have a 20% score or something like that not single digits lol. The show is trash
@@yungmohel1906 true you are right
It feels like the show version of it all is going to tie everything from the books and games together into one grand narrative, I’d guess at least seven seasons if people don’t hate Liam Hemsworth too much.
None of what Netflix is making is CANON anyway so it doesn’t matter
Even if they wanted that, they've already started contradicting themselves in this series. What are the monoliths? Farming equipment or gateways? Why didn't we meet more dwarves? They are literally talking out of their arses and none of it matches.
Lovely show. Enjoyed it and all the tie ins. We need Henry back
Let’s be honest here The Witcher will be canceled after this last season.
Great explanation. But please slow down a bit in the videos or make some pauses. This is more comfortable to listen to.
Henry Cavill made the live action series IMO & I love the series but damn I hate watching actors change in same series shows
Going to suck without cavil :(
It already kinda sucked _with_ him, but he was almost singlehandedly elevating it just enough so I could look past it.
Hearing how he was treated though and seeing how they are now gnawing at his feet like toothless ghouls... Yeah. Good luck with that.
I mean, seriously, nutsack armour reveal even before season one started said everything we needed to know about the show runners.
@@tomaszwota1465 Like i said , it will suck with out him. He was at least was trying to keep it authentic to the source material
What this series did for me and a lot of my friends is. Make us want the story of the Dwarven kingdom and how the elves brought them down. We see lots about humans and now elves but I really want more on the other races!

Should I watch the blood origin before later watching the season 3...?
Some one help me. I have only seen two chapters on TV . Your talking about the third Chapter ! How do I get that one?
Yea this limited series was too short... Like what do you really expect to accomplish with just 4 episodes...?
I was salty in the past that millions of people only new Witcher by Witcher 3 game, not even playing all three games let alone reading the books to realize how special this fantasy world is. But at least Witcher 3 is masterpiece in it's own right. but what Netflix has done to this franchise... I will never forgive them! 😪 it breaks my heart that million of casual viewers will only connect Witcher name with his meaningless peace of garbage that totally ruined and butchered the real story, or completely invented it own idiotic one. nothing can save this show from the talentless hack production.. all I can say to people is: Please please please go read books for yourself and see how different everything is, and what a cool gritty dark fantasy it is, and how much infinitely better they are!!
Poor sod, had to watch the whole thing.
Thanks for the video. The show was decent by itself, but seemed to be lacking as an origin story.
They should just cease production of all witcher things and hire people that actually know the story of witcher world
How have you missed the fact that baby is part elf part pro-witcher therefore creating a subspecies hence new bloodline that enables creation of stable witchers rather than using monster energy directly creative unstable chaotic emotionally psycho creatures.... At least that's how I understand whole thing
Except that isn’t how witchers are made. You aren’t born a Witcher.
@@edwardrichtofen8530 read my comment few more times lol have I said anything about witchers being born at any point? I'm saying that using blood of new subspecies they have later been able to create stable version of witchers 😉
@@zyzla87 but they also isn’t how witchers are made. It’s just mutagens. No special blood from some special person.
on one hand, I'm not a fan of straying away from what i find familiar. i would love nothing more than to see even an anime of R.A.
The narrorator character should have been gaunter o'dimm. It's basically him anyway
blood origin is just a watse i dont know why netflix has invested in this limited series or spin offs...

Henry cavill warhammer
