Yes in the area around the weld it would, you can see in the video the coloration after welding was about 1/2" around the weld, so the center part of the jig where the knife blade fits should still be hard. It was meant to be a plunge line jig not a filing guide. I won't be sanding or filing on the jig, only on the knife, so I wasn't too concerned about softening up the ends from welding.
