Keyboard heads will literally make their entire keyboard out of silicone before using a membrane keyboard
I'm using a membrane keyboard. At least until my mechanical keyboard I have on order arrives. I like the quietness of my Logitech Illuminated Keyboard K740. They named it "illuminated keyboard" because it literally was their first keyboard with backlight. I've been using it since. The membrane is starting to fail and I've had to cut and splice the cable a few times due to the rubber insulation becoming hard and brittle so I'm getting a new keyboard. Point is, this thing is VERY quiet.
The only membrane I'll ever touch will be coupled with scissor switches, otherwise every key has a slightly different pressure required to actuate it and it drives me round the bend.
@@novaflareq4788 that's actually what my membrane keyboard has. It's very low profile
@@Ballador Yeah, I have one from Cherry that I use as a spare. Tenkeyless with scissor switches make it easy to stuff in a bag.
The best scissor switch keyboard I ever used though was on a large, old Acer laptop. Borderline mechanical feel. None of this chiclet nonsense.
I honestly prefer membrane keyboards. I think it's a nostalgia thing for me, but it's just the way the keys sound chunky that makes it satisfying to use. Plus, I'm not a fan of RGB lights anymore, so my new Logitech wireless comfort keyboard was well worth the $40 I spent at Staples.
Weird Flex, but OK
I get it lol
hahhahahaha
Now I won't have a problem to hit the mouse on the keyboard
funny enough thats actually what got me into keyboards
that's honestly an insane coincidence
hit the mouse on the keyboard? i thought people slam their keyboards say whatttt
To answer youe question at the end of the video-
I personally prefer videos that get to the point! So this was one of the most enjoyable videos of yours i've watched
You know, membranes could TECHNICALLY be considered silicone switches, if you really want to go down that route. Topre might be the best middle ground though
There are those rollable keyboards too
@@Ballador I used to have one of those years ago..
That was an absolute HORROR to type on >.<
cool concept, easy to stuff in a backpack, but aside from that there was nothing actually good about that
I don't think the membranes are actual silicone, and are probably a cheap alternative or a mix
Most edible looking keyboard
Nom60- already eaten
I really REALLY hope that the remake of the"oooh yeahhhh" is a one time thing 💀🙏
24 likes no replies? Let me fix that
What is the original I forget
I was literally thinking about how cursed the lowered version sounded lmao
Wish he’d remove it completely
no it must stay
I had an all silicone keyboard in high school! It was hot pink and had zero thonk or clack or anything, as it was a membrane roll up one. What it did have going for it was it was a good decoy for cats to sit on and it was wholly immune to spills as it could just be rinsed off. Worse than a laptop for typing experience, but much less anxiety when you spill peach juice all over your keyboard (thankfully the keyboard I did that to was the old school mechanical and each key was in a little cup of sorts to hold the spring and thus pcb was wholly isolated from above, and i was able to clean it up and it was fine, but that was why I decided to try both cups with lids and a waterproof keyboard).
Yours is a much better typing experience though, and definitely easier on the eyes.
The tape mod is amazing!
I like when you make videos like this, where it isn't sponsored content about the next greatest budget board of all time. It's nice to have a video about a board that you just thought was weird or interesting.
Can you pls make a keyboard with every switch you know? I think that would be a nice idea.
So basically keyboard switch tester. Not exactly a novel idea that has any real use beyond being inconsistent with actual use as everything will have different feel, actuation, etc.
@@Lamb666 i mean its a meme idea for fun its not supposed to be a real thing
Imagine every keycap being from a different set too
I think that keyboard would be a 20000% keeb
@@smashley7210 that would be insane
Good pace! Good video!
this is what I would like to call "Slocky"
It sounds very unique with the tape. I like the usual style of your Videos if the topic is interesting I'm all in for a longer vid.
It wild how much tape effects the sound on all keyboards honestly.
Congrats in 1mil 🥳
I like the longer videos ... not like hours of live streaming, but something between say 15-30 mins.
Great pacing, just enough detail and engaging.
this sounded so good
Nice Video, pls more!!
The length of the video was *just the right amount of time* a silicone keyboard deserves. Ya did good.
I've had these keycaps for a couple years. I love them. Highly recommended.
I know you said that because they're silicone they'll pick up dust easily, but that isn't my experience at all.
this keeb sounds like silicone heaven! 🎉
3:52 so does actually maintaining manufacturing tolerance. Its expected if the thing is super cheap but at the prices i was seeing they should be pretty solid.
Yay! Tape mod FTW!
It sounds surprisingly nice.
Rip Alfred, Hipyo finally killed the freeloader
Love the new even more exaggerated Glarses knockoff transition sound effect 😂
oh my thocking god it sounds amazing!
Aren't rubber domes really just silicone keyboard switches
Those are the keycaps I bought thanks to one of your previous videos. I love them.
What's the best barebones for a custom keyboard? :D
I'm convinced tape mod makes every keyboard better. It's do or die.
Short form is pretty chill
It actually sound pretty good 😮
Oh, that tape mod was nice sounding.
Nice length vid 👍
I prefer the YUNZII C68. Its shape is very comfortable and, for its price, it offers way more
Woah, tape mod did work!
i just randomly thought of silcone keycaps and of course this dude already has a vid
Ngl i kinda liked it without tape mod lol. Very suitable for the office. While silent switches could have the same sound effect, they don't feel good to type on.
If this keyboard have a thocky or creamy switch, I cant imagine how good it can be
please would you go back to the longer videos? :D And wow that actually sounds good at the final sound test! 😮
good length!
I started building custom keyboard thanks to you and I dont know why I started to late lol I do have a question for hipyo and the community.
Is there any good places that sells MA or PGA keycap profiles?
I fell in love with the atyle but i can only find like the same 15 cap sets....
I don't know how it looks in real life, but the keyboard looks kinda charming from where I'm sitting! :D
that "ooooh yeaaah" is the bane of my existence
Could you tell me the size of stabilizers you ended up using for the board?
I really enjoyed the length of this video! I thought it was still fully explained and the pacing kept my brain in the loop :D
To show you the power of Flex Seal, I sawed this keyboard in half!
I remeber these they where on the epomaker AK-87s if i recall .
Please more rambling, I love 1 hour+ videos that ramble about my favorite topics, kthxbai
The advanced zx spectrum is my first thought sorry is what I remember days back but I'm sure there is much difference ... Lol all the best
Parodying Mr Glarses’ transition tune was gold
Can you review the Happy Hacker Typer Keyboard?
could you make a video on HE switches ?
i just placed a preorder for the wooting 80HE and it would be nice so to have some alternative switch option testet by someone trustworthy
I have a corsair K70 max with Hall Effect switches... I'll never use another switch type again.
oh this was uploaded 13 mins ago! didnt know i was this early- sounds really good!
The only fitting this to watch as I mod by first mechanical keyboard.
I like the snappier brief style, but I did notice no Nola so if the video needs to be longer for more cat action keep it longer
Hey Hipyo have you done a video on 40% keyboards before? I was looking at the new Keychron one for portable-ness.
Can you rank your top ten keyboard s of all time
Novelkeys Cream+ do have silicone inserts, you know...for those silicone switches.
Hi hipyo, Can you please try Royal kludge RK H 81 keyboard?
Hey, I want to buy the G20 keycaps with Nordic iso layout, any idea where i can find those?
can you try to make your own low profile keyboard!!? and also yeah I like when rant about the keyboards brands and keys, etc... BTW the switch segment sound it wasn't my favorite, I like more the previous one.
Have you ever used an actual antique typewriter? Like a early 1900s underwood? My grandparents had one and it was my first experience with a keyboard. To call it a unique introduction is an understatement. My daughter still gives me a strange look when I say hit return instead of enter. Also, there is no less forgiving keyboard than that one. Accidentally punch two keys and you'll see what I mean. I think you'd make a very enjoyable video out of using an underwood, and there are plenty of antique typewriter youtubers who would enjoy doing a collaboration with you. Maybe they could try your keyboard on their channel for a change of pace. Not sure if you'll try it, but I figured I'd throw the idea out here for ya.
I think I do remember using some computer keyboards that have the big fat Enter key as the RETURN key in order to distinguish it from the small enter key on the numpad.
Whenever I hear someone say "hit the return key" I always assume it's the enter key, so it's not weird or anything, it still makes sense to call it the return key, if only it was printed as such.
Hear me out. A market for these would be for kids learning to use computers and typing. Fun silicone keycaps and keyboards are perfect for young kids. My toddler at 5 would love these.
Wow. The tape mod REALLY turned that thing around.
that color combination
The song A Cruel Angel's Thesis rings in my ears
@HypyoTech, can you do a video on alternative layouts? I'm a fan of the 60/65% with "split backspace", like the HHKB. I have not found a good resource that would list them.
Been building my own list as I randomly stumble on keyboards.
- The Mark 65
- DROP KBD67v1 (not v2)
- DROP DZ60 PCB
- BAUER LITE 65% KEYBOARD
- Zoom75, Zoom65
- KBD8X MKIII (TKL)
- HIBI JUNE R1 and R2
so cool !
Should have used WS v3 Stabilizers, they have a silicone insert inside the stem
can you review the dark project DPO087 mechanical keyboard?
I liked the pacing. It didn't feel rushed or dragged out. By the way, I'm curious... are there any weird keyboard layouts that don't use a single stabilizer?
Ortholinear, split
I want to know of its possible to convert a Microsoft ergonomic membrane keyboard to a mechanical keyboard using parts from a periboard split keyboard.
it looks like a render from blender with that smoothness i literally got cold chills multiple times watching this bro.
I really want you to use a refurbished old school keyboard with their super loud "ka-chonka-chonk" keys
Are they ever making the diamond avalon switches again, lol
I usually like the tape mod a lot but I think this one actually sounded better without the tape
Please test the Logi Mx Mechanical!!! I really wanna see a video on it :)
It’s probably soft enough to use as a pillow😂
so hipyo .. lemme ask this cause i am a noob to the keyboard scene.. but i am also a gamer. are magnetic rapid trigger switches silent. or are there silent variant of them?
NICE!
Love to know what you think of the lamzu Atlantis pro
You should try invokeys matcha lattes or black sesames. Black sesames are my favorite switches at the moment
you should review the WASD HOTSWAP V3 87-Key Custom Mechanical Keyboard i havent bought it yet and i want an expert opinion
Hey hipyo, please do a review of royal kludge rk h81 with sky cyan switches…
What if you where to fill the base of a keyboard with that white non newtonian fluid? (keep it level lol)
Tape mod is King
I want a keyboard that sounds like Link's footsteps in the shrines in BOTW/TOTK
Yo Hipyo, Leobog just released a revised version of the HI75, including everything you said would be better like a better knob, and its cheaper
Hipyo, I know you’re linear gang, but I think the KTT Matcha tactiles would actually be of interest. (I’ve heard that they THOCC 😱)
Enjoyed this shorter format 😅
Full vid on kiboom phantom 81 v2 or what ever its called
He uploaded an 8 minute video just for me to watch 20 seconds of it. Great video.
:(
Hey hipyo, can you do a concrete case keyboard?
Why don’t you review the Aula F75?
The darkest thing I want from a keyboard video is someone to take a Logitech pro and make it as close to a god tier board as possible, that way I could have my favourite keyboard software and hardware that doesn’t suck donkey
they have gateron ink black siulents which have a silicone side wall or dampener idk the diff lol
desperately needed the tape mod.
