I was totally blown away by this song, Old School Metallica! I was there!!
I saw them back in '85 on the Lightening tour Sacramento, CA. They opened with this song. Y&T (another Bay Area band) headlined with Metallica and Armored Saint opening the show.
Holy shit they nailed that harmony section impressive,kirk has stepped his game up alot again he seems pumped.
Yeah the harmony section is a good litmus test as to whether Kirk is on top of his game. James nails it every time and if Kirk is sloppy it’s super obvious. He does really well here
it is very slightly sloppy though. i am fucking obsessed with fight fire with fire's harmony solo but this rendition is not completely flawless.
I'd rather say kirk's solo just before the interlude is kick ass more than ever though

You have to take into consideration that these guys are almost 60 y.o., they have been playing since 1981, they still play long shows, long songs, the songs have may arrangements, they still touring, and this guy (Lars) sits behind that drum kit and can perform like this... it's just impressive.
Don't forget the man has arthritis, that makes it really something amazing

I first heard this song live in January 1984, more than half a year before the album release. My first Metallica show, it was in a dumpy little club with maybe 100 people there at most, and it was $5 to get in. I stood literally in front of Kirk, I couldn't even fist bang or else I would have punched him. No barricade, not even a stage. They played on the corner of the floor.

A voz do James ta muito incrível, principalmente comparando com shows de alguns anos atrás. Fez um trabalho vocal muito sensacional. Ta cantando demais, de todos os discos, desde da fase aguda quanto a fase mais madura. sem falar que ele ainda consegue tocar todos esses riffs impressionantes enquanto canta. Eu vou a shows do Metallica desde 1999. Em SP eu só não fui em 2015. Posso dizer com tranquilidade que eu nunca vi a banda tocando tão bem, tão de boas, com sorriso na cara, curtindo o rolê mesmo. Em SP eu via as expressões deles no telão e era pura alegria. As músicas que tocaram no set de BH foram sensacionais, mas poder ter Holier Than Thou, Dirty Window, No Leaf Clover e o show começar com Whiplash e já emendar Ride the Lightning, pra mim, é insuperável! O que fica registrado é que o Brasil foi contemplado com os melhores shows da turnê do Worldwired.
E cá pra nós: se em BH o James se sentiu velho e incapaz de tocar, Fight Fire with Fire é a prova de que ele está muito enganado. O riff master mais poderoso do metal continua afiado, parece uma locomotiva desgovernada de tanta palhetada. Seloco.
Essa música é simplesmente magnífica. Eu sou do PR e fui em SP, lá não tocaram, mas logo socaram a Ride e a for whom the bell tolls, foi incrível.

I am so surprised that many of them say that Lars plays the drums simply and they also say that when Metallica live drums, Lars often misses or misses the beat, what's wrong with these people, but when I watch videos of Live Metallica drums, Lars is not bad at playing drums. with power that I think is extraordinary at the age of lars who will enter 60, it's hard to believe that all metallica personnel will enter the age of 60, i think lars' drumming is very unique i like his style no matter what people always insult lars he is still my favorite drummer , even though he is not the best drummer I still support him,

I think at periods Lars has been lazy and sloppy live as he got older there are enough examples here on UA-cam poor time keeping and rushed drum fills, sloppy double bass work.. Why that maybe could be a multitude of reasons (practice /fitness /health) BUT there are way more excellent examples of him absolutely crushing it throughout the 40 years of Metallica.. the mid 80s too mid 90s era was especially epic but I've seen some great recent stuff from him as well.. Playing more to the album than what he feels like.. lol
I've always been a fan of his drum work AJFA blew my tiny mind bitd and HE was a big part of that. 🤘

Eu fui nesse show e foi do caraleo, 450 km na estrada do Sul do estado do RJ até BH,
mas que fosse 1000km, teria valido a pena, foi incrível d+ melhor Setlist possível a energia do lugar! Muito marcante para mim, não espero a hora de ver eles de novo.
Pois eu viajei 1000km praticamente pra ir, sai de Goiânia só pra ir nesse show. Foi épico.

Bruh I can’t imagine being in my 60s and trying to play 16ths in the double kick at 180 without triggers. Say what you want about Lar’s technical abilities but he hits hard so hitting as hard as he does playing at that speed at his age must be hard af.
Look at him now tho! You can tell he’s been practicing from their live shows from the album drop. It’s been super sharp!

They seem to be in absolute top notch form on this South American tour! James voice is so strong and has lots more power on these heavier cuts than the last few years. Great stuff!
Man Kirk really blows me away , at what 59 or 60 years old he absolutely shreds through all his guitar solos in live concerts , with how truly melodic , complex and just blisteringly fast alot of his solos are It blows my mind how impeccably well he plays them all live on stage , there ARE NOT many guitarists out there in metal who display the ability to solo that well in live concerts , especially not at the age Kirk is at and with arthritis in his fingers not to mention, the dude deserves a hell of a lot of respect IMHO , these guys are literally true living legends, I really pray I can be able to see them live just one more time in my life while they are still on fire cause the last couple years and especially in this '22 tour they havent sounded this tight and good , totally on point since at least the late 1980's , I hope they are able to keep it up on this level for a couple more years.

On the last couple of live shows James really sounds very aggressive, with straight vocals, like on their old records. And I'm loving it! He did not do these "vocal experiments" like he did all the last years on live shows. I mean all these "yeaaahs" and "uuuhs" and the high sung tones on some words. Sorry, i do'nt know how to better describe it. I hope they listen to a lot of old stuff while they're recording the new material. This could be the possible explanation why he sings like in the old days.
