Are Overlanders doing it wrong? Ultralight might be the way to go.

  • My Xterra is a sweat rig, but I was surprised with its Load Capacity, which got me thinking. What if we don't bring everything and the kitchen sink but we learn from the Ultralight community.
I am making the switch. Should you?
    Enjoy.

I worked out my car fridge set up including the house battery and solar panels weighed 100 kg 220 pounds so I went back to a good cooler that holds ice 🧊 for a week

I'm primarily a backpacker, sometimes even stoveless with just a tarp and foam pad, but I still bring heavy gear when a machine is carrying it and I always make fun of myself for it, its really stupid and unnecessary but its just too tempting lol

I’ve always been puzzled by vehicles that are packed full of gear with the roof rack stacked. Less is better. I essentially put my backpack with a cooler and a folding chair in my FJ. Call it good and get on the trail. Also less gear means less $$ spent.
