- Destiny 2 Season of the Wish - Skipping the Rainbow Road on a Hoverboard in Destiny 2 / Flying Over the Prophecy Dungeon Rainbow Road w/ New Hoverboard in Destiny 2. Just another short video showing some in-game gameplay of the new Skimmer hoverboards added today.
I'm normally not huge on videos like this, but I was getting the clear for the Riven's Wishes 6 in Prophecy, and figured this would be something people would interested in seeing. I'm sure there'll be 100 other videos with this, and probably is already. Obviously, sparrow flying is much faster, but it has some pretty fun applications, and is very easy to pull off.

Whoever came up with the idea for the skimmer at Bungie needs to be praised. Who would have thought a sparrow replacement vehicle would generate this much excitement...

Agreed, skill issue lol I usually just try to full force blast through racing against my friend. Helps relieve the monotonous grind of doing this dungeon. The more you do it, the more you know the timings of the air blasts, when to hard brake, sharp turn etc.

More impressed he managed to use the skimmer that long without crashing his game lmao. Bungie needs to fix that issue.
The fact that this actually serves a purpose other than aesthetic visuals, might actually make me finally play again to get it.
It's more than obvious that it's not meant to bypass all environmental obstacles that Bungie has in the game for years now. Everything that has only been out for a few hours is perfectly expected to be usable for exploits that Bungie was not able, did not have time or didn't bother to test for. That is, until it's patched.

Blood, u didn't understand the meaning behind my comment. It was never about bypassing content. My comment is about Bungie actually creating new content that has a purpose to own, and a reason to grind for it. This game has been dying because they intentionally underdevelope everything. Story has been thin for years. Most weapons and armors are reskins. This is the first new major rework of a sparrow mechanic since the introduction of the trick tumbler in Destiny 1. If Bungie would just put some actual effort into making reasons to play, the state of the game wouldn't be so dire. I still haven't jumped on Destiny today btw. Might just watch a vid to see how fast it is to earn, get it, then go back to other games til Bungie cares again.
The rail you slide on matches the subclass you are on
And the color of the skimmer trail changes based on your class

Little known fact, you can just walk the ribbon road lol slower but safer for solo runs

We did that with two buddys as we went to this dungeon to complete mara's quest. I haven't had so much fun since a long time. All the different moves you can do with this thing. As said another comments, give that dev a raise!!!!!

The thing is, this game isn't actually that tall. You can only go up so high.
You can ascend as high as any wall you can ride against. Esoterrick has a video about it

I really hope the skimmer being able to grind on literal air isn’t a bug, or if it is, I hope it doesn’t get patched because this is the most fun thing I’ve used in a while
I doubt it's a bug. The elemental custom railing in air and the fact that the same effects were shown in the trailer. It seems more than intentional

The hoverboard is cool, im gonna work for mine too, but the fact that it “grinds” on nothing and it hovering in the air is SO bungie, I just feel like if they gave it better physics and you could actually grind on terrain for like a speed boost or something it would be funner long term. But maybe I’m looking too much into it lol.
I'll never forgive you for not being able to hover unless the crouching motion is switchable, Bungie.
Wouldn’t strand with grapple be more efficient in doing this instead of the solar class?
Subclass doesn't matter when you're on a vehicle and even if it did wellskate > grapple

Time to grind out 1.2k medals to get the exotic variant before the event ends. Thats what I need atm. A medal farm
Do the nightfall and emote before finishing champions. Gives you top 10%, which unlocks the exotic version. A lot easier than all those medals.

You can skip in on a normal sparrow to. Just hit boost right on the edge when the exit crosseover

Probably. I wouldn't be surprised if you'll see a custom skimmer for master dungeon or raid completions.
I haven't played any of the current season. Guess I might check it out now.
