- This is a very short video but step by step process of how to drop the engine from a 2003-2004 Kawasaki ZX6R.

You know what your doing man! About to watch ur video 1000 times when I take my engine out this weekend on my 01 zx6!
Ha! Right on man lol. Thanks!
I have one. Need too be rebuilt looking forward to learn how too do it.💯🦄♠️
He where are u located , I have a 2002 Kawasaki looking for a motor and a hand In replacing it Watch your vlogs kool
Quick question! I’m taking the engine out & I’m at the part where I take the chain off the front sprocket! How do I losen the back tire forward to take the chain off the front sprocket ? Thanks
Stick a 2x4 through the rear wheel to lock it against the swingarm 👍
How long did it take you to do everything in the video? 3rd gear has gone on my bike and I need to remove the engine to get it fixed
Getting the engine out is about 2 hours. Same for back in. Rebuild time 8 hours. I charge 12 hours labor for a full rebuild with engine in the bike.
@@MotoMedic where abouts are you based? I have bought a gear box and a manual and tool set to try it myself 🙉🙈
I'm in Eastern Washington. Used to be located in Bakersfield, CA
@@MotoMedic oh right I'm in uk 😂
@@MotoMedic I need u address
What size is that spanner nut socket
Pretty sure it's a 20mm/24mm (one on each side). I can't recall off hand exactly. Kawasaki part # is 57001-1450 so that'll get you some reference.
Would this been the same for an 02-04 zx12?
Probably similar but not exact. This was direct from this specific service manual buy most of the steps are the same.
@@MotoMedic thank you! My zx12 sat in Washington’s good ol rain and there’s water in the spark plug holes . I started it up and it spits and sputters. What do you recommend i change?
@@trethabarber2015 pull the plugs out and turn it over until everything is gone that you can get that way. Definitely change the oil. And then frsh gas and keep trying. It'll sputter and hate you but eventually it'll fire if everything else is working properly. Make sure it gets spark and should be good.
OH and again... Make sure it's got new oil lol. Once it runs I'd change the oil after a few hours again.
Hey, I have a 2008 Zx6r and it will not crank. And I have no idea how to fix it. I was riding one day and the bike just cut off. Had to get it towed. But I would like to fix it.
Does the crankshaft turn at all? Is it locked up or did it just quit running?
When you hit the starter does it spin? Or does it just go "click"
It just clicks.
I just replaced the battery 3 days ago but still nothing
@@makincracksent You might have to pull the stator cover off and try turning the crankshaft by hand. If you can't.... it's time to pull the engine and start tearing it down to see what's going on.
Probably a dumb question but do I have to drain the oil before removing the stator cover?
Part 2 and 3??
There is a disassembly and assessment video on this bike already. Not necessarily titled parts 2 or 3 etc
@@MotoMedic im in the boat of installing a used engine for my 2004. Was the install any different then just doing the opposite?
@@CH1NEEZF00D4 Yes indeed. It's the exact procedure in revers order. Do you have the service manual? You can find one on zx6r.com if you don't already have it.
Did you remove the brakes for a reason? Not sure if i got to do it
@@CH1NEEZF00D4 this particular bike was going through a few mods while I had it. Brakes were being swapped with 2009 brakes and rotors.
