Wow! This was a real eye opener! No pun intended! LOL! I always wondered what if any difference there could be between the cheap curlers vs the more expensive ones. I was looking at one by Tweezerman yesterday but didn't buy it because I thought the cheapie elf one I had at home was just the same. I'll go back today to see what the arch looks like on the Tweezerman to see if it matches my eye shape better. I used to have large, round eyes but now that I'm middle aged and have crepey skin around my eyes, the shape has changed dramatically. Aside from my lashes being thinner and shorter, I keep pinching myself! Ugh! I'm definitely going to find a replacement eyelash curler!! :)

    • @helpfulnatural
      @helpfulnatural 6 років тому +1

Okay...I went to Walgreen's today and found a few different Tweezerman eyelash curlers but the tops of the packages they were in were black opaque so I couldn't see what type of arch they had. They also had the Revlon Gold Series you demonstrated here in the video so I came home with it. What a difference! And I'm no longer pinching my eyelids! I honestly thought all lash curlers were the same, despite the price. I also have the exact same elf one you have which will now get donated. Lol! Thanks for this video and thorough explanation! Much appreciated!! :)

I bought the Shiseido eyelash curler and I thought it curled my lashes easy but the curl didn't last more than an hour. I used it several times and would hold the curl for close to a minute but the curl just wouldn't last compared to other curlers that I used in the past.

Same thing happened to me with one I lost so many eyelashes and for that reason I design an eyelash curler "the Slylash" who will adapt any type of eye shape, no more L shape or eyelids pinched If you like to try it I'll sent you one when I launched it.

I have very hooded eyes, and have basically given up on finding an eyelash curler that works for me. And I just use a spoon, which seems to do the trick as it's good for getting every single lash.
It sucks though, because I get a really nice curl and my eyes look much bigger, then after an hour the eyelid skin pushes down the curl.
I'm really considering getting my eyelashes permed.

    • @Biceps.and.beauty

my eyelashes struggle holding a curl too! It helps to use a waterproof mascara, but if I use it too much, my eyelashes tend to break..the struggle!

I hate that elf eyelash curler. I used to love the mechanical eyelash curler from elf. It was ten times better than the one they are offering now for a dollar. Luckily, it can still be found at my local big lots. The only one I have found that I like as much as that one is the tarte lash curler which is so much more expensive. I am not sure how well either of them would work on hooded eyes. I never really thought about how the different eye shapes would effect how well a lash curler would work. Great vid!

You have to always glide your finger over your eyelash curler to Make sure, there isn't any residual mascara on it. That is what will cause problems pulling on your lashes or sticking.

My Lancome eyelash curler is AMAZING! I had used many drugstore eyelash curlers, and my feelings were neutral because I had never used a great one. My mom decided to buy me the Lancome one just to be a sweetheart. The Lancome one is amazing at grasping your lashes firmly and curling them and KEEPING them curled. It doesn't pull at my lashes or make them fall out

I hate Revlon so much (animal testing) but I want this curler so bad because the edges look like it will really curl my lashes, because my outer lashes don't get curled at all really and it's the bane of my existence.

    • @Biceps.and.beauty
      @Biceps.and.beauty  9 років тому +4

I completely understand where you are coming from. Maybe you could find one similar from a cruelty free brand? It's too bad the elf one doesn't work great! It's too bad revlon decided to test on animals, because at one time I think they were cruelty free.

@- You need to get a grip and do your research. If the testing they are doing on animals is no big deal, why don't they just do the testing on humans who will be using the product? There is a reason they are using animals and the animals are not free from pain and cruel conditions.

    • @alectafox2364

@@peachy75019 theres a rule where scientific act or experiment cant be tested on human except on our own self. Thats why from long long time ago most experiment stuff always tested to animal like rats or rabbits..

The reason why I don't use an eyelash curler is because of a dream. So in real life, I was born with dark, thick, and curly eyelashes. In my dream I used an eyelash curler for the first time, and apparently, some of my eyelashes came out. (Most of them came out and I have a lot of eyelashes) Since I have more eyelashes than most people, the eyelash curler ripped out my (some) of my eyelashes in my dream. And that's why I don't use an eyelash curler.

A girl in the store recommended me the 60° curler from Tweezerman. I asked her if it would fit my almond shaped eyes and she said it would curl even better. Now after one year and losing a lot of lashes, I see your video. Now I realize it was the curler that impacted my lashes, not the mascara, stress, food etc… I will buy another one now and I hope the inner lashes can grow back after being pulled out for one year…. Thank you for this video!!

Has anyone found a good refill for the shiseido that is NOT made of silicone ?
The refills I bought from shideido barely curls my lashes . And the stores no longer sell those rubber or latex ones that revlon and maybelline used to use . Nowadays it’s all silicone . I don’t even use my curler anymore because it’s almost impossible to curl using these stupid silicone and I’ve tried heated lash curlers and they don’t work either.
I also tried a DIY using a foam from those toe separators but those are too soft.
    Suggestions anyone ?

I have the revlon one, but the rubber part kept falling out and eventually I lost it, and so did one of the rubber pieces for the handle. Went out and bought a drugstore curler that looks just like the round, silver one you're talking about, but I was getting weird results. My lashes were bending at a sharp angle halfway like spider legs.
This video made me compare the two, and I took the old revlon curler out of the trash (cleaned it lol), and fitted it with the extra padding from the new curler. Everything makes sense now. I guess I can use the more rounded curler to curl the very ends of my lashes?

This video just showed up in my suggested videos feed and it is SO GOOD!!! I only used the Shu Uemura lash curler (for over 15 years) and then it stopped working for me. My eyes were becoming even MORE hooded - aack!!! I bought the Shiseido and it is a flatter shape than the Shu, so it works much better. I've been using the Shiseido for over 2 years. I am seriously impressed by that Pro Revlon one though; I'm gonna look for it in the drugstore and check it out! If you have another lash curler that you like as much as the Pro Revlon one or the Shiseido, you should film an update video!! It would be so helpful. Big hug, Julie

I think I have tried just about every lash curler out there and the ONLY one that really curls my lashes and the curl stays is the Kevyn Aucoin curler. It is awesome!

Since I left this comment, I have also purchased the rephr curler which I would put up there with the Kevyn Aucoin.

Thanks so much for this video! The eye lash curlers I had were curling my lashes inward and I couldn’t stand them. I just bought the one you recommended and can already see the difference!

I'm considering buying Japonesque Precision Lash Curler. It's a thinner lash curler that targets parts of the lash line individually, rather than the whole lash line. I wonder if this would be ideal for those with hooded eyes?

Sounds like it would be good! Then you wouldn't have to worry about pinching your skin as much!

Amber's Beauty Chair Yes, exactly. That is a problem for me. I'll let you know how I get on.
Every lash curler I've used either pinches my skin or doesn't catch all of my lashes.

Amber's Beauty Chair Hey. I tried the Japonesque lash curler and it's AMAZING!
I have very tricky lashes as the corners which are always missed by regular curlers, but this curler gets every single one.
Also, other curlers would make the lashes stick up and dig into the hooded skin above my eye, which would open my eyes for a while but the skin would eventually push down the lashes.
With this curler I was able to curl them so the lashes just barely rest on the hooded part, so they stay curler much much longer.
Also I was able to curl the lashes sideways and not upwards, which made them stayed curler much longer.
      Definitely recommend for hooded eyes!

Brilliant find, Amber! My eyes are shaped very much like yours so I think the Revlon will work for me. The way you explained the different shapes makes total sense. Id much rather spend $8 than $40 for the Tweezerman Pro Lash that is supposed to be for deep set hooded eyes. Thank you!

That same curler cut off some of my lashes too. There is a difference in curlers.
