We re-watch the entire Long Way series every year. This year, I bought my Triumph T120. The more I watch it, the more and more I love Charley more and Ewan less (still love Ewan, always)! I definitely like Charley’s taste in bikes! This orange custom T120 is the what started my search for my current bike, I watched that part of (whichever one it was that featured this one) over and over, wondering what it was. Mine is stock and I still love it!
7:36....thanks Charley....your endorsement of the Street Twin rings true, a very happy first purchase and looking forward to making some changes to personalise it (as soon as we're all allowed out again...)
I had Bonneville 2014 model. I loved that bike, I even made a lot of off-roading on stock (street) tires. But it was damn low. All my bash plate was completely scratched on street humps (speed breakers).
Interesting bike build. I like that Ohlin can be blacked out now. I'm looking really hard at the T120 to fill out my stable, this video gives me some ideas to nic B-)
Beautiful Charley , but a bit more detail would be nice, and a start up to listen to those pipes. Is it based on the air cooled scrambler? Can’t quite see.
It's the newer water cooled Bonneville T120. You can tell be the circular plate on the engine cover, plus the radiator in front of the headers. Additionally, the T120 IS the water cooled version.
Looks good and I know Charley is going for a certain style but I would be thinking that after his last accident he would be fitting the best road tyres available. How would the steering feel with that large front tyre?
I like the interviews they do but would like to give a suggestion. My suggestion is to let followers sometimes listen to the motorcycles to get a sense of how machines work ...
I see some fantastic bikes coming out from triumph,I use to ride an old Bonny in the seventy,I could just touch the the ground Then with a little alteration to the suspension, but now I’m not so sure the bobber was ok but the Bonny not so if it could be lowered A bit and my be some larger boots with a bit moor in the toe I could touch the ground a bit better, I am only 5;2 short inside leg. I miss the days when I could ride a bike, but these days I am limited to size and cc,the big and better and more impressive machines Are out off reach,so for me the little kiddy’s bikes wound not do, I am looking at a 320cc Yamaha at the moment, a starter bike and For seat height, but still limited to what I can ride, but it’s the Bonney I miss. So any ideas that could help.?
Was half way through building my cafe/street fighter style Street Twin. Then I saw this and the BAAK Tracker.... What an expensive discovery that was... FML
Splodge 57 Triumph passed worrying about other manufacturers years ago, to say stick to bonnevilles (street triple, speed triple, rocket 3 ,thunderbird!!)need i go on? GS with a pre wwll flat twin engine, need i say more?
15 years ago when I got back into motorcycling I purchased a new Bonneville and it was so cool, everywhere I went people were stopping me and commenting on the bike, even in traffic windows went down and more comments, I was elated at my choice of a bike. About 3 weeks later after I realized how I would take it to top speed in every gear I was bored and especially on freeways when other bikes would blow by me at 100mph + speeds. I knew I wanted much more of a bike. I had bought a bike based on looks and not performance. That is why people buy Harley's. 4 months later in the dead of winter I test rode a BMW 4 cyl K1200RS and I went, oh my god, this is the bike I should have bought. I just didn't know at the time because I was new to biking. It is now 15 years later and I have the R1200RT and every time I pass a car at triple their speed in supreme comfort on a freeway I still go oh my god! Don't buy a bike just because it looks cool. Buy it for what it does and how it does it, BMW.
I actually disagree. I've been riding bikes for over 30 years (and Charley for even longer) and my personal discovery has been that most modern bikes are fast enough for most riders in most conditions. The new crop of Triumph Bonnies, BWM R-NineTs, etc, are plenty fast enough for the UK's roads. I have found that for me, 100bhp is about right, and 120mph is fast enough for even the longest journeys. I still ride offroad, I do trackdays, I ride flattrack and I commute every day, and the more I ride the more I enjoy riding - and the more I continue to learn. Big bhp can be helpful on track, but it's also a joy to carry corner speed, outbrake people, and surprise the big sportsbikes. I would suggest that people should buy a bike because it handles beautifully, and is fuelled smoothly - with character - but feel free to also enjoy it's looks. These days bhp is just a number for pub-ammo ...If I wanted boring practical fast transport I'd buy a high-end Volvo, . ...Dutch.
I ride using these tyres on my Scrambler every day in all weathers, and and out of London, and they are very grippy. If you're unconvinced have a test ride on some, and let us know how you get on. [Dutch]
what is it about your average human of this generation that makes them take the Cat etc out for more performance, its not like theyre underpowered to start with . . so fck the planet comes out loud and clear . . . just saying.
Let's get it tested ! ! lots of blah blah ETC etc 😅 Charlie left BMW now he is getting paid by triumph . he's a clever guy ! blah blah. can you get it fixed in Mongolia, Russia etc etc
As you'll see from Charley's boundless enthusiasm, you don't need to twist his arm to make him ride a Triumph or any other bike. He just loves two wheels, of all sorts, from his self-built custom W800 to his S1000RR to his custom Triumphs and his Explorer. His energy is genuinely contagious. ...If only more Brit bikers has so much positivity.
I would tend to agree with you if I wasn't aware of his long history of promoting motorcycle culture and his involvement in it. Go watch Long Way Round or Long Way Down. Dude can ride.

Charley is the reason for me wanting to do my trip around the world as many other people i am sure!
Great video! I'm rewatching Long Way Round AND just put the deposit on my T120 so this was right up my alley.

This is a piece of art
Very nice Charley. That bike looks sharp. Wish we could have heard it though.

That is the most beautiful bike in the world.
Beautiful mod. Very nice Charley
Nice film.. and he always seem a nice fellow. I enjoyed that. Thank you.
WF
Love the color!
Very nice. I particularly like the exhausts. I wonder how it handles with that 150 section front tyre.
Good to see Charlie.
Nice looking Bike. Always liked Charley since Long way round.
Charley should have a tv show like this.
Nicest bike I've seen on this channel, looks awesome.
What a nice build, might have to steal some ideas for my future bonnie. Would love to see what else Mr Boorman has in his garage
He's got a really nice W650 with a mega loud Racefit titanium zorst... and some other stuff.
That colour!! is the same as my divvy! gets noticed.. er nice looking bike overall too.
Another brilliant bike!

Nice. Big fan of tkcs. Mentioned sunbeam which is nice as I've just bought one😊

You forgot to fire it up for god sakes so we could hear it

Shadowing over here ...hawking over there!
I bought a kit from d&o for a bmw r100 I built, absolute quality 👍🏼 must say bmw make a much better scrambler !
The front wheel doesn't appeal but the rest is pure class. Especially loving the colour
Looks good and I know Charley is going for a certain style but I would be thinking that after his last accident he would be fitting the best road tyres available. How would the steering feel with that large front tyre?
Surprisingly, these wheels and tyres work really well together. It does take some getting used to, but it's a fun setup.
Thanks.
Looks good from Marty Feldmans love child
Are we gonna get another adventure series from charlie soon?
Hopefully soon. Hope to see Russ with him as well.
Nice.
I'm a little bummed we didn't get to hear him fire it up.
What is the brand of your front fork clamp & and the handle bar?? 😊
we never got to hear it tho :(
Is this the stock headlight bucket fitted with the Down & Out stainless steel 41mm headlight brackets?
I like the interviews they do but would like to give a suggestion. My suggestion is to let followers sometimes listen to the motorcycles to get a sense of how machines work ...
Call me crazy, but I like this bike.
If you are ever in Washington DC please stop by DC Triumph!
Would've been good to hear it

No Cat converter?, you wild crazy guys.
:-) looks great!
Was half way through building my cafe/street fighter style Street Twin. Then I saw this and the BAAK Tracker.... What an expensive discovery that was... FML
Hi all - did this start as a standard t120 or the scrambler?
Where do you get the side panels?
Splodge 57 Triumph passed worrying about other manufacturers years ago, to say stick to bonnevilles (street triple, speed triple, rocket 3 ,thunderbird!!)need i go on? GS with a pre wwll flat twin engine, need i say more?
This is why I read comments first. No start...no watch.
Did I miss it or are there no mirrors?
Loving those "nut" indicators. Anyone know where you can buy them from?
Motogadget Pins. Google is your friend.
Thanks!
Slightly different to the ones fitted here but the Motogadget Pins are ridiculously bright.
Gotta go now, school in the morning....
How much did this cost? Beautiful bike
Drop Shaun at D&O a line and he'll talk turkey with you.
Ufffff! On fire 🔥 gorgeous. 👍🏽
Hi what is the size ot rim & tire??

Fer chrissakes...let us HEAR it!!
I waited till the end to hear how the bike sounds
No throttle cable???....Are you crazy???
😮👍🏽
They have normal sized torso's and baby sized legs.
Those cant be road tyres surely ? wont get much grip from them on a wet monday morning in the city, oh wait, silly me
Continental TKC80, perfectly good and usable road tyres.
I ride using these tyres on my Scrambler every day in all weathers, and and out of London, and they are very grippy. If you're unconvinced have a test ride on some, and let us know how you get on. [Dutch]
It looks good but it is surely not a lot of fun to ride it.
Charley thicc af
Form over function.
Have the bike washed ,dried ,and sent to my room ,..........i will spend many hours of pleasure with her!!!!
what is it about your average human of this generation that makes them take the Cat etc out for more performance, its not like theyre underpowered to start with . . so fck the planet comes out loud and clear . . . just saying.

Steve M ah... they wanted KTMs for the long way series'.
Oh God. This generic cookie cutter hipster/hipster bike package deal is going to look like platform shoes in about 5 years...
If only people would stop building & buying them!
Charley boormans done fuck all. Hes just dropped 30k on a nice bike from down and out. He doesnt even sound like he knows anything about it.
It's a Down & Out build - as explained in the video - built to Charlie's taste because he likes what they do - and nowhere near £30k.
I would be doing the same thing if I was in his position. Good on him.
I would tend to agree with you if I wasn't aware of his long history of promoting motorcycle culture and his involvement in it. Go watch Long Way Round or Long Way Down. Dude can ride.
KyleP133 i watched them when they originally aired, and his ktm tantrum made me dislike him
