  • The national anthem of Spain, "La Marcha Real" - known originally as "La Marcha Granadera" - is translated from Spanish to English as the Royal March and the Grenadier March respectively and had its origins from a military music book dated 1761. It was later adopted as the kingdom's national anthem. It is believed to be composed by Manuel de Espinosa de los Monteros. Originally the military march was composed for fifes and drums. Arrangements for orchestra and other instruments were subsequently created.
At this point in time, "Marcha Real" is one of the few national anthems that does not have official lyrics.
