My dad was a professional painter for many years, he'd clean the walls with TSP (Tri-Sodium Phosphate). Of course, he learned this back in the days of lead based oil paints, coal or oil furnaces in homes, you know.. the "good ol' days". I'm sure Simple Green would do a quality cleaning in a modern home, as I use that stuff all the time and it doesn't disappoint. Proper prep makes for a successful paint job, keep spreading the word!
@@weekendhomeprojects I never use oil based paints anymore unless requested to or needing to go over an already oil surface. Use water based primers and paints pretty much on everything, only time I'll use oil based primer (BIN shellac) is to prime a previously oil painted surface so that I can go over it with water based. I have a video explaining here ua-cam.com/video/y2Jrit893sc/v-deo.htmlsi=luRN7uCZS1G4OEt3
Any advice for more greasy people that have more Grease around the switch plates? Like, if you are a more greasy type person clean around the switch plates more thoroughly? Similarly, less greasy type people can be more lax about cleaning around Less Greasy switch plates lol. Johnny DIY to the Rescue!

Everyone needs to know these things about painting. Great advice. Good attitude. And always paint your corners first before you roll the flat areas.
@@waltermattei5994 Thanks so much! I appreciate it 🙌👍
Good tips 👍 if you don't prime the patches they flash out, and they're really hard to get rid of once they've been painted 😢
@@griffinpaintingandhomeimprovem Thanks Pete! Listen to this guy and everybody check out his channel! Hes a real pro painter! 💕🙌👍
@JonnyDIY Thanks Johnny 👍

@@brk726 You're very welcome, and thank you! 🙌👍
When should one use water based primers / paints vs oil based? You ever use oil based on interior walls?
