Think the underlying reason for the sacking is King wants a coaching infrastructure, with a head coach dealing with football and ‘upstairs’ wanting control of everything else, that Robins as our ‘manager’ controlled, he didn’t want to relinquish that, they got rid of Lawrence and Viveash and isolated Robins.
Claret here. Mark Robins was mentioned why we were looking for a manager. I’d have been (still would be) happy to have him. Shame as the lad has done a great job, but it’s a results business.
Forget the results this season - he held this club together. You are not going to over perform every season. Why stick with him through the other rough to get rid of him now? This has been planned when they started bringing in other staff. This is arrogant people at the club being egotistical and impatient. Then deciding to change what was working as if they know better.
Coventry play 5 of the current top 6 in their remaining first half of the season meaning they would expect to get 15-18 pints more (being at 30-33 points). Despite playing a lot better than the table suggests (from what I’ve seen) and the credit in the bank, I think this is why the owner pulled the trigger. P.S. I don’t agree with it but am providing a possible reason
Good luck to Mark, shame - guy took us to places we didn't think we would go, one kick away from Premiership, cups, promotions. Stuck with the team through financial problems, didn't even have our own stadium!! I hope he goes to a club that looks after him, and as a Cov fan maybe the future will be bright and we have another good manager come in.
As a City fan I think he deserved another January window. On balance, we haven't looked good in the league since the late winter period of early 2024. It's been patchy, FA cup run aside, but replacing Hamer, Gyokeres, Doyle and O'Hare has not been easy. Crazy choice by doug king. Only manager available that can even match him is David Moyes! And he isnt coming to us lets be honest Should have at least let robins this last game against Sunderland
Since doug king has taken over the club it's gone backwards. It makes no sense why you would completely change the footballing side of the club that brought so much success. The only person that has let the club down with his p#ss poor performance is DOUG KING. Mark Robins is a coventry city legend....... Gutted.
Jimmy Hill did something similar with Coventry. Only he did make it to the top flight, which Coventry remained top flight from 1967-2001. Coventry hasn't been the same since Dennis and Adi left the club. Mark has done amazing, and it's a shame that it's had to end like this. Checkatrade winners, league 2 play off winners, league 1 winners, FA cup semi lost of pens and play off final lost on pens, plus the ownership issues, stadium issues, etc

You can only blame the players for the situation !!! They have just not performed this season After a half decent season last time round big things were expected but no the players have not turned up / Can't score Can't defend 😮😮
I agree, players have not performed. But if the manager is not getting the players to perform then something is wrong. It's just how it is in football, the buck stops with the manager. Those players will find out for themselves too, players often go on to coach and manage. They are the ones at risk when they don't get results, as Rooney has found out.

We've been pretty rotten since the end of last season to be honest. I would have been behind Robins all the way back down to league 2; for me the players need to take the brunt of the blame for this, they've let him down massively here.
I honestly think Adi was there to put a rocket up them when they needed it and now that's gone the players have become lazy. They got rid of him because he was old school but it feels like that's exactly what they need. I totally agree with your analysis on needing a new modern direction now.

Whether it is the right decision depends on who is appointed. There have been question marks about Robins in terms of him taking the club to another level. Great though Robins has been he had probably hit the ceiling of his ability. I hope a Birmingham scenario of replacing a good coach with a big name former player is not repeated.
Coventry are in a very precarious position right now. Robins achieved a lot for your club, and came agonisingly close to matching both Hill and Sillet's highs. But, he's lost the players, and he is not just getting the results any more. The silver lining to this is that Robins will not have Coventry's relegation on his record.
Some of our (Coventry) fans should be careful what they wish for. Robins has been brilliant for us, but that’s not enough for some of our entitled lot. Thankfully they’re in the minority…
This definitely feels like a player(s) issue and some malcontent or some not listening to Robins anymore and it filtered up the ladder. I feel for him but this happens in everyday work life as well. Whether it is right or not the players control the situation, cant get rid of them and results need to be the driver. Agreed! King brought in a whole new backroom staff full of psychologists, nutritionists and multiple coaches from how to score goals to how to lace your boots up.
