Just brought myself a 2016 ZX10R winter ❄️ edition haven’t taken delivery as yet as I’m having a de cat and new Arrow pro race titanium exhaust fitted along with a flash on the ecu just to make things run nice and smoothly along with unlocking the auto blipper can’t wait to get my hands on it.
@@adamstratford6740 I really do like the winter paint scheme on the ZX10R. In fact, the ZX10 was the first bike I saw that first got me into motorcycles.
@@adamstratford6740 unfortunately I’m not riding anything. I’m in college currently and as you can imagine there isn’t a whole lot of room in the budget for a motorcycle, riding gear, insurance, etc. Plus I know my parents aren’t too fond of motorcycles so I will be waiting until I leave the house anyway. But when I graduate from college in a couple of years I would like to get a Ninja 300/400 or an SV650 to start on. My first exposure to motorcycles was seeing a ZX10R KRT on the street about 3-4 years ago now, so I’m team green just for the sake of it being the thing that introduced me into the scene.
Really interesting stuff. Just nice to hear a guy (talk) who clearly knows what he's talking about. And I don't even own a bike. Sad face. Those Metzelers with just a couple of cuts are road legal? Amazing!
how is the power of the zx10 after the akra with de-cat in any difference in the low end, and did you get power commander or any other ecu mods on this bike?
Kawasaki do amazing brakes so should have kept their own. I find 42psi in the rear better all round. Tried 36 but didnt flick over as well on the slightly flatter surface(for normal road use).
Neevesy, I have the winter edition which comes with the same end can (still have the cat) I've done less than 200 miles but sadly dislocated my knee so of the road awhile, as I can't ride what upgrades do you recommend as a must for this bike. Cheers
Good review, I totally agree somewhat. Yes you are right. At minimum, you would need to change the following on a ZX10R to travel any distance. The gearing (sorry I know you hadn't mentioned this but I'm sure you can agree the gearing is very tall), a gel seat (as you said, the seat), a double bubble screen (as you said). Rear sets adjustment plates yes, solid rear sets no. Unfortunately due to having race rear sets on a number of road bikes I would now disagree. In my opinion they make a road bike worse (great on a race bike), if not for how they keep catching on you boots (as they don't fold back) each time you lift your foot from the ground when stopped it would be the vibration that is so annoying as they are solid mounted with no flex (how do you not end up without your feet going numb with those pegs?).
i didnt understand sorrythe breakes are good or not>?and the suspentions alsosorry im not native english but its hard to hear ur voicethankx and im waiting for the update after the track day
Neevesy, what tyre pressure did you use on street and track? I cant decide between racetec and m7rr for mixed (30%track 70%street) use... Great updates, thanks!
interesting. yes I like lightech product..you did not say if you felt you gelled with the bike.after 7 days I thought you would have a first summary of the bike
I'm trying SBS pads at the moment - we'll see how they perform. The H2 is the same. I've got a feeling it's all down to the way Kawasaki do their ABS. The brakes aren't great even when it's switched off. Neevesy
+neevesybikes honestly I'm surprised that there flagship bikes are weak in the brakes. I simply love my 14r but was sadly disappointed with the brakes. I'll try the sbs and if that doesn't help I'll switch to ebc. Btw I've been a America fan of yours for years. You rock buddy! Now if I can just leave this God forbidden country and move to the UK.
+ThaMetalMan thanks, mate. It's weird how the Japanese ABS systems spoil the brakes. All the European sports bikes manage to have ABS and really powerful brakes. The Panigale's Brembos will have you through the screen with the slightest touch.
Fast Bikes magazine puts the ZX nowhere near the R1. R1 came second in Fast Bikes SBOTY 2016 to the 1000RR and the ZX came a lowly 6th. Track times at Portimao were dismal for the ZX, the only "top" bike not making it past the 1:55 mark..in fact 1:56.92 Judging by this you'd say it's nowhere near. I think Portimao is a pretty decent track to judge considering it's still used in racing...
+John Peel yep, it finished last in our 1000s test back in Feb - a long way down on lap times. It struggles with its weight, lack of bottom end power and poor brakes in standard trim. Neevesy
@@neevesybikes neevesy, thanks for the swift response, and this brings the bike back in line with other bikes that have decent brake feel? Did you ever manage to replace the MC with an aftermarket one and see how that felt in comparison?
@@kieranmcmanus6073 I never made the mod, but it’s what you’d do if you raced-prepped it. I’ve never heard anything bad about the brakes once the ABS has gone 👍
3000 miles of the tires and they look like that... Hard for me to believe. I got the same, best street tyres you can buy, but I get only around 400-500 miles out of the rear and maybe a 800 from the front, one track day for the rear, two for the front, and there is no tread left from the side. I would buy the same when I can, for now I'm stick with the slicks, even though they aren't very nice for the road.
Apparently not so many laps on the track and mostly road riding. Never the less I really liked those tyres and despide the mileage I got I strongly recommend them. You cant ask more from a street tyre when it comes to riding hard on the dry. Too bad I can't post a photo to show you how the rear looked after those 400-500 miles and actually still griped well, not like new, but well.
Well there isn't a lots of options here in my country. So I ride on our only track or on Serres, but those tyres had rolled on only our track - Dragon, not very long track with not very good surface. Ooo I did a bit of riding on old airstrip that was harsh too. They were K3. I hope I will be able to afford to try some of the more famous european tracks.
@CSKAwrestling old comment I know, but our man Neevsy might be a little more smooth on the gas than your good self too? He's probably also fastitidious with tyre pressures which can really impact tyre life
great review of a bloody good bike !
Excellent update, cheers for that...bet you had a blast!!!
Very good insight Neevsy
"The seat's a lot more comfortable, but only just"Ahh... reminds me of my favourite F1 commentator...That's a compliment btw
Sir, as always you teach me something EACH video. Sold me on the tires, not so much on the bike. Great review

Unfortunately not...
how much giving mileage this bike on long road trip???
if we ride constant speed with respectfully???

is the full exhaust system much louder than the stock system
98db with baffle in.
Could it be the master brake cylinder that is causing the brakes not to give the feel as you would expect from these brakes?
Hopefully it's the pads. I'm testing a couple of different sets over the next week.

80 miles per tank or 18 miles per tank on the track?
Joe Hammond 80 miles per tank of gas on the track. He said it clearer in another video.
those tires are impressive.
How massive is your registration plate?
Huuuuuuge!
how much air pressure do you run in your tires on the street?

Well, the Ducati best both in our 1000s test this year. It was the S version but there's not a whole heap of difference next to the standard version.
