My thoughts exactly!!! Divide the spoils between a charity and Mapperton pond/fountain restoration! Think of all the photos, the video opportunities, the exposure!
Love the comment "what makes nobles noble is caring for others," caring for the people, land, and the history as you two do. (Also, Luke, we prefer the UN-super-duper-ostentatiously-dramatized Downton's depictions over Bridgerton. My apologies for any misspelling.)
I love Bridgerton, but I love you guys more - you are so relatable and have such great stories to tell. Did UA-cam ever give Mapperton its award for going over 100K? They really should!!!
A New Roof Fund Raising Ball. Everyone who donates gets to sign the back of a slate for the roof. Donations of slate tile can be sent to Mapperton following the Ball. Umm how many tiles will it take to fix the roof?
Love this!!! I know there's a lot more regulation about how it must be done, but I wonder if they can add some better modern waterproofing under the historical tiles.
Once all the leaking roofs get fixed, THEN talk about a party! What I want to know is the story behind the paneling in that room! I just want to touch it and feel that wood texture! What type of wood? Is it Elizabethan/Jacobean?! It looks like it! Can you imagine what those walls have seen over the hundreds of years?! The mind boggles! That would be a fantastic topic for a future video. I know I would look forward to that one! Love that you both are so down to earth!
I love the idea for a big party, and as others have suggested, a fundraiser ball. The idea of a masquerade ball is my favorite!! I'm one of your viewers from across the pond (never been there but want to visit), and this sounds like it would be the perfect centerpiece activity for a vacation! Hmm, if I'm coming can we do that and a yoga retreat too?! Pretty please! Keep doing what you do! You guys are great!
I really enjoyed this sit down conversation with His Lordship and Her Ladyship. Luke and Julie really make us all feel like we are a part of this lovely estate and their lives. I would love to hear what the formal attire for the future major royal events will be and where do the formal robes and coronets for the Earl get kept/maintained? When did the Earl last formally wear his attire?
This is one of the most interesting of your videos. Even as a Brit it is easy to imagine that after dealing with your leaks, you swank around in fancy clothes at parties. It is so nice to know that you lead basically an ordinary life. In fact, I can now imagine that, current inflation aside, a lot of people have more spare cash than you do as most of us do not have to worry about leaks, repairing acres of roof, or restoring historic carpets and tapestries. I think, although I would like land around me, I prefer my small cottage with an easy to maintain garden. Thank you for uploading.
I haven't watched Bridgerton only a few snippets but from those snippets, I can confirm that it is total fantasy and I hope those who are watching realise that it is fantasy and not historical.
One of my ancestors was in service to the Earl of Sandwich's household in 1841. The census records show him in the Dover Street residence. He was one of five Male servants listed. So it is very interesting to hear you both refer to the differences between real life and life depicted for a story and also what life was like in the past. I have enjoyed watching these videos .
You are both so adorable! Sorry Julie, I'm with cousin Luke on this one. I'm Team Crawley 100%. My daughter and I belong to a theater guild - she portrays Queen Elizabeth I. We're historical costume geeks 😏
Really enjoy the loving banter. ❤ Julie you did a great job at jubilee. It feels like from watching at the start you and family are old friends. Thank you.
You two are the Best of Britain - You are both the Royalty - what a treasure. Loved Julie’s TV appearance/commentary. I think Julie should dress up like Bridgeton Viscountess
If you do a fundraising ball with historic costumes (which I think is a great idea, especially to fund individual restoration projects, as well as donate to charity), I recommend that you contact Prior Attire, which is a costume house that also plans and puts on a Victorian Ball in Bath, at the Assembly Rooms, every year. Not that they would be able to plan everything for you (they still have a business to run), but they might share their recommendations for musicians, florists, caterers, etc. that they have worked with in the past, and other tips and necessary information for putting on such an event. They also have extensive contacts with the international historical re-enactment and costuming community, who attend their Victorian Ball (and weekend of themed activities), and who would be especially interested in attending another history-themed ball.
Love that you are both so down to earth compared with past generations of peers. I agree the idea of a fundraising ball sounds great. Half the money to Mapperton for desperately needed repairs such as the endless leaks, etc. The other half to a worthwhile charity. Perhaps something to do with sustainability?
Come on people! I want Luke and Julie to be able to continue their wonderful videos. I don't want them to go away and leave us stuck with just Bridgerton! Step up to the plate and hit the Subscribe button!!!! Love from Vermont
I love these kind of “behind the scenes” videos of actual life as Viscount and Viscountess. It’s fascinating and I’m learning so much😊 Thanks to you both from Ohio/USA🥰❤️
You both did a fantastic job explaining these topics. These concepts are still very fairytale like...thank you for being candid and real!!!!🤴🏼🤴🏼🤴🏼🤴🏼🤴🏼🤴🏼👑👑👑👑
Excellent!!! So enjoyable and interesting. BTW hope you get to attend the Funeral and Coronation events. I understand why Charles wants a smaller coronation (or I think his team does) but I think it is a mistake given these media driven times. And he sort of owes it to the other European royals who really only exist for this stuff and it robs them of so much. Personally I'd like to see a huge coronation of Charles and Camilla with the investiture of Wales there at Westminster Abbey at the same time. That would be a reason to spend money, give them great media, and show Charles-haters that William is working on his behalf.
We are enjoying this video and comparisons to The Bridgerton Series. We have seen all the Bridgerton episodes now (also enjoyed them) and there was a great deal of 'poetic licence'. An example was when we heard the orchestra at a magnificent ball playing `'` Madonna's `I am a `Material Girl !' and thought surely not! In the Bridgerton era they would have called their relevant titles, such as Lord and Lady, all the time. Mapperton Lives are always very entertaining and we like learning more about the history of Mapperton during each Mapperton live as well as the wilding and other aspects of the beautiful Estate you 'show' us around. We watched the Viscountess's video presenting the Platinum Jubilee and thought she did so brilliantly! Christina & Nick Findell, Devon UK.
Ever thought of a fundraiser video party? Dress up in your favorite costumes and hold it in the Mapperton garden. Show it online here and fund the roof and more with proceeds. That way everyone around the world can visit it. If you are worried about people attending - no problem if you limit it your family, staff and some friends. 😇 As to titles - ask Luke's dad if a shortened version was ever stylized for it?
Thank you for this information. I think a lot of us who are not in the current aristocracy have no idea what it is like to be in it. I always appreciate the history and understanding of why things are as they are today.
I have aristocratic ancestors in my family tree, and my family in America was also wealthy and land owners. Times have certainly changed and are much more casual. My great-grandmother was the last person here in New York to have household staff. Things are very different these days. So, to some degree, I understand and can identify. I absolutely love your videos, you guys are great !!!! Much love!
Delightful session thank u both for your candour & giving us an insight to your practical life & that of your ancestors in relation to the royals, been binge watching all your videos daily now very interesting i learnt so much about life of the aristocracy present & past history 😅👏🏻👍🏻
I have not watched Bridgerton yet but I'm looking forward to it. I am quite sure your real lives are far more interesting.Your Asterix Ball sounds fabulous.Boar chucking sounds like fun! Wonderful video! Love from Vermont
@Mapperton Live, It was a joy to trip over this! A fresh, dare I say seemingly realistic perspective on contemporary titled folk. This content is well-balanced with the set decor of what many of us Americans associate as “royalish” (new word?) Comfortable interaction between the couple despite a fish bowl venue was also fun to watch. Excellent alternative to royal media drama. Well done and thank you for giving us a peek 👀
I'm with Luke on the Bridgerton stuff. But it's interesting to hear how different your lives are from what's portrayed on TV. I'd also wondered whether you'd be invited to the coronation, and had also wondered whether Luke's father attends the opening of Parliament each year. And will Luke eventually become a member of the House of Lords? My understanding is that the rules around that are complicated and rooted deeply in historical events, with a limited number of hereditary peers allowed and selected by existing peers. It would be an interesting video to explore some of that, though, even though it's a bit removed from Mapperton. And I imagine Julie's feelings around the whole concept of life peers and hereditary peers making decisions for the country might be complicated, as an American but also a member of the aristocracy (not sure how Luke feels about all of it).
Always good to see you and find out what’s on your to do list this visit! Seems to be a hot summer everywhere! That roof/kitchen project is a doozy! Can’t wait to see how it all turns out!
Viscount and Viscountess Luke and Julie Thankyou so much for explaining the role of titles the royals the Bridgerton series but I have to say I do see a mix of Downton Abbey modern Viscount and Viscountess in a castle in the UK and so dedicated fabulous parents Amore I pinch myself for finding you both and this channel I learn so much here 💖😍👌🌟
Lovely conversation and very informative. It will be interesting what will happen with the inevitable changing of the monarchy in the relatively near future. Which traditions will continue, which ones will evolve or change entirely. Love the channels.
Asterix und Obelix…i remember them from back in the day in Germany. ….And!….my eyes keep wondering off to the fish fingers on the painting next to Luke…😂
What is it about the English accent that commands action? I just subscribed, because Luke insisted it is the sensible thing to do, and who doesn't want to be sensible? Well...you two are also adorable, so there you go! Time for me to work in my garden and rip out a defunct dishwasher (I've been promoted to head dishwasher!😏😂). Ta-ta!❤️
I just discovered these people. I could have sworn I've seen the girl before, either the PBS historian girl or the one who plays "Jane Eyre," but no, she is apparently a "Viscountess." I am absolutely loving this stuff, remodeling that cottage and those stripey piglets. What nice people. I'm so impressed and have of course subscribed, and much kudos to her for ripping out that staircase carpet that everyone was afraid to touch.
Christmas ball!! you should have a holiday Christmas party with live music. perhaps a fundraiser or just ? I'd love that and to see the place all decorated :)!
I would have watched you at the Jubilee, but my Mom died that day, June 4, from a long illness. Our whole family was with her for the last two weeks. I have to admit that those celebrations never even entered my mind during those days.
What you are doing with your beautiful house is far more important than a ball. However,if you do have a ball may you always invite good people who will appreciate all the effort you have been putting into it.
Asterix and Obelix were drawn and written by Uderzo and Goscigny (both French). The first publications were in Pilote, also a French publication. Lucky Luke and Tintin were both Belgian.

Thank you for the breakdown of how being an aristocrat is in modern times. Again, enjoy both Mapperton Live and American Viscountess. I enjoy both Bridgerton and Downton Abbey. If I can make a recommendation, if you both haven't watched The Gilded Age, please do. It plays on HBO Max in the US. Don't know if you guys can find it there. I think it's worth a watch if you do find it in the UK. There you go! A fundraising ball with regency costumes. That would be so much fun to watch 😜
@Kristy Rash. Yes please!!!!! 👋✨😁💫
My thoughts exactly!!! Divide the spoils between a charity and Mapperton pond/fountain restoration! Think of all the photos, the video opportunities, the exposure!

Have a Bridgerton themed party! That would be amazing!
Love Bridgerton,,, And, Love you Both Viscount and Viscountess!!! You are both Such a breath of fresh air and So down to earth!!!
As Americans, we learn so much when you share about your experiences as a Viscount and Viscountess! Let us know when the party is 😉💕
Thank you Luke & Julie for that wonderful explanation into the many levels of living as a Viscount & Viscountess. 👑🛡️👏🏼
i like that you both are down to earth, and you know your priorities.

This is so fun to watch, a glimpse into another world, and how that world has evolved in modern times.
Lovey couple so normal and grounded love your home and your chats love from Australia
Luke is so relaxed and transparent. His history is very interesting

I'm now a fan of Bridgerton after watching a short segment of the full episode on UA-cam!
Great video! Thank you🎈🇺🇸🎈
Yes I watched Bridgerton and loved it. 😀
Loved this once again!

I never realized that Luke was so chatty! lol You guys are so cute together!
I loved it and can't wait for more.
Christmas ball!! you should have a holiday Christmas party with live music. perhaps a fundraiser or just ? I'd love that and to see the place all decorated :)!
I love Asterix and Obelix. I have and Asterix figure along with the books. I'm from Chicago and I grew up on Asterix and Tin Tin!
Nice to see this couple again ! Luke (Luc) is very funny !
Thank you 🙏
So fun! Thanks!
Very very informative.
I would have watched you at the Jubilee, but my Mom died that day, June 4, from a long illness. Our whole family was with her for the last two weeks. I have to admit that those celebrations never even entered my mind during those days.
❤️ my condolences.
I'm with you Luke,Downton Abbey is very realistic.Bridgerton is just fantasy. Not my cup of tea at all.
What you are doing with your beautiful house is far more important than a ball. However,if you do have a ball may you always invite good people who will appreciate all the effort you have been putting into it.
What a charming couple!
Asterix and Obelix were drawn and written by Uderzo and Goscigny (both French). The first publications were in Pilote, also a French publication. Lucky Luke and Tintin were both Belgian.

We have Asterix and Obelix over here! I loved reading their silly adventures in the comics when I was young and in French class (high school),
Lipstick, Julie, YES, always...
Love you two, you are a hoot!! So down to earth and funny! Megan Markle should take a page from your book of life!!💕💕💕💕
I am so sorry you are dealing with this! Can you hire two contractors- one for the bathroom and one for the pool, then tell the one who shows up that you may have another project? That way you’ll have a backup or if they both show up you’ll get your projects done simultaneously? Good luck! It will be beautiful when you get it done!
I just love you guys…..you’re a great couple!
Also, just throwing an idea out there for you both regarding throwing a party/ gather; it would be great to invite all the people you have visited Julie in your episodes of visiting other manor/estates.
Julie you were great in the that Bravo/HBO program. Forget the name. Something housewives- ish in theme. Love your substance. 😉
Love this .
Loved this !
Great idea as a fund raiser, I agree! Could involve your subscribers in some way too!
Luke, I remember the Asterix books; my daughter loved them when she was a kid in the countryside of Quebec. I enjoy watching you & your irrepressible Julie. So I subscribed.
Yes I just subscribed ☺️
"Julie sometimes brushes my hair" oh goodness laughing!!!!
