    Thank you for the useful video. Geranium environment is very different from Korea. Because winter is the dormant period. Summer is the dormant season for geraniums in Korea. Geraniums grow well and bloom well in winter.

    Greetings from the other side of the lake (Michigan)! I over wintered my geranium for the first time and wondered about the white shoots, etc. and didn't know the next steps.Now I know! Thank you! We northerners have such long winters it's so wonderful to have garden projects to start at this time of year!

    I'm glad I'm not the only one that loses some of their plants overwintering. I thought I was doing it wrong. Some of them make it and some are dried and shriveled. Thanks for the video. BTW I'm in NE Pennsylvania and we have long cold winters too.

    The method I've been using for 15 years is... I bring in one plant in a pot. It stays alive in a basement window or under lights. In February I simply take as many cutting off it and root them in a jar of water. These rooted cuttings are then potted up to provide me with a dozen or more healthy new plants to be used in planters or directly in my garden.

      What an excellent idea! I overwinter mine on the basement floor and they get a little sunlight from the tiny windows. I brought them downstairs mid October before first frost and watered them lightly every 2 to 3 weeks. I just brought them outside last week, and 3 out of the 5 survived. I've done cuttings before and they root very quickly. But I LOVE your idea to take cuttings in February to be planted outside end of April/early May, and will definitely be doing this next February!

    Thanks so much for taking the trouble to film this. Some really useful hints, and I had never thought of the coffee filter - a great idea! And good that I can just put them in a box in my shed for the winter. I will try it.

    Thank you so much. I wish I would have known about putting soda cans and filler popcorn in the bottom of pots, I have 2 big heavy pots for a miniature. lime tree and a miniature lemon tree. Bringing them in is very hard heavy work.

    It's a good idea to put another coffee filter in between the potting mix and the foam peanuts because eventually the two will mix and that's not good.

    appreciate watching this you tube today. I have a big beautiful, still blooming pink geranium. Read that they become woody if they are not overwintered. Wondering if 'woody' means they won't eventually bloom as much. Do the geraniums kept as indoor plants, 'bloom less' and this is why they can be overwintered this way? I really love the plant I have and sorting out now the best way to preserve it. I may just bring it in and put in the basement. Would like to take a few cuttings off of it to grow more plants. Thanks again and cheerio from west coast canada.

    My daughter-in-law used the soda cans in a big pot - - couple months later the smell of mold was emitting from pots. Emptied pot and found that mold had grown in all of the cans - yuck! Perhaps empty water bottles with the lids tightened down would be a better suggestion.

      You can use bubble wrap instead of the tins. Save the bubble wrap from your parcels.

    Thank you for the great tips! Two years ago, I tried putting several in large sealed box over the winter in my basement, but didn't open the box until April, and they were all dead. Do you check on them at all over the winter? If so, do you mist their roots at all? When do you open the box first time and start potting them (obviously leaving them inside until after last frost)?

      @SuperWoodyboy I agree.
      My geraniums are green all vinter, I leave them in the basement, in the pot, with some light and water slightly through the winter. Then I change the soil in february/march. No dead flowers 🌸
