Yea right. Somebody is going to pay 14million dollars and then leave open to the public and also pay to maintain it and keep it clean. 😂. Keep hoping….🤣

Yep. And some drunk that manages to trip and bust his butt would have plenty of lawyers lined up to take over ownership of what used to be 'your' island. I have a riverside farm with two islands. I HAVE to keep "No Trespassing" signs on both of them and chase off trespassers. Otherwise, my lawyer tells me that I could be financially liable for anyone who has a 'mishap' there. I must be able to show in court that I've taken efforts to exclude the public. Kind of like when you use a company's trade name. If they don't continually fight for their ownership of it they might lose it to others trying to use their trade name.

Anybody has any complaints? Go buy the island and let everyone use it free of charge! And when some drunken idiot hurts himself your insurance company will pay him enough that they can buy the island from you! It’s private property and they can sell it or do whatever they want with it. I’m sure if the owners charged $20 admission to cover the cost of services and insurance nobody would go to it.

@@d.williamparris2516 the spoil islands should not be tampered with. Did sand key beach teach us nothing??? 1st time green slime showed up was after massive jetty project created dead zone in the ocean. same thing happened farther down south killed off whole area of coast until a hurricane came thru and re-opened pass to ocean. point is, we are not as smart as we think we are and should not be screwing with the ecosystem especially when money is involved because then people can no longer be trusted to do the right thing. I grew up here and was a sailing instructor in clearwater beach with 10s of thousands of hours spent on our coast in small boats. In the 80's so am shocked and horrified by what our coast line has turned into...almost a waste land by comparison. If this kind of thing is not stopped now, it will not end well!

Being a local all my life of 70 years ,the first time I stepped on Beercan was 1964 and always believed that we tax payers paid for the island. Being a boater since the 60s we were the ones who would always clean up the island from others debry and take it back to the mainland ,we were the ones who kept it clean. But to find out the island was sold for $65,000 to 2 brothers was a huge shock to us boaters because, if we would of known the island could be bought we local boaters would have bought it and kept it a sanctuary open for all future generations to enjoy what we have had for decades . But the buyers after the island flooded after the last big storm thought they would try and sell it for $14 million but no buyers. You know as a lifelong boater we were taught you don't drink and drive, that's crazy, but these brothers tried putting a bar on a island that the only way there is on a boat . Anyway yes I'm pissed off at our local government for not letting us boaters the ones who actually took care of the island a chance to buy it, but that never happened.
