Whenever I accidentally touch the controls on this light I unplug it then plug it back in and reset the time. It is a pain. I did miss this issue early on and discovered the light was still on at 4 in the morning. Like you I wish I could temporarily make the tank bright to take photos without having to do the reset process of unplugging. All in all though I'm happy with the light and the way it looks on my tank.
The light with the timer thing on the cord has less options but is easier, a little less expensive, and won’t turn on when bumped. Congrats on being a Daddy!!! Best job in the world is being a parent.
If you drop it in the tank, the Nicrew will just have some LEDs die? Because I was honestly getting a little freaked out with all these devices, I was realizing they're all plugged into the wall so if I drop something in, I could possibly fry my whole tank or even electrocute myself. That's why I got the Hygger, because it's water resistant.
Yup, they won't electrocute you anymore. Most modern electronics have a silicone coating to make them at least water resistant. The LEDS just aren't sealed so if they get wet, they die.
Hygger for the win! I use all Hygger 24/7 lights (around 20) much simpler - don't understand why anyone needs those super programmable ones (maybe saltwater? who cares 😁) Check out my fishroom tour to see the plant growth they get. Best lights for most aquarists in my opinion.
TBH I haven't been the most impressed with the plant growth under this light. My rotalla seems stunted, where with my shop lights it grows out of the tank. I'll have to check out your set up to see what they can do.
BIGGEST CON - BUYER BEWARE! This light will not function off of a plug in the wall external light timer. It defaults to OFF after the power is cut. Even if you use the internal timer, I question the wisdom of something that defaults to OFF when the power cuts out.
It does appear to save the settings for a short time when the power is out (just happened) but it wanted me to confirm the time of day before it turned back on to my programming.
None of these marketed numbers actually mean much. The number plants really care about is par. Which companies don’t usually publish. But you can look them up from people posting it(par meters are expensive.)
Man....I agree on the buttons. I have a young grandson who loves to mess with it. When he leaves I have to reset every thing and have to drag up a chair or my back will suffer...standing there jacking with it. I love the light but the buttons are a real turn off (pardon the pun.)
My light turns on at 50 percent I have to press it 100 percent and I have 90 gallon 48 inch long tank I just want a light I could put on a timer cause the 957 doesn’t shut off and it just turns on at 50 percent
Congrats on the kid. It's great and you'll get lots of "help" when working on your tanks. Mine "helps" me so much I don't even think about doing tank stuff unless its nap time or bed time anymore. Edit: It is the greatest thing in the world, though. Even if it does mean exclusively late night water changes when you're tired as hell.
@@BobMossNanoTanks You should find the picture that was floating around of the big reef tank that a kid dumped milk into. At about a year and a half, all my tank related tasks get done in 30 second chunks because that's how long it take before he breaks into a storage container and finds the most dangerous thing possible. Plan to put everything you own 5 feet up.
@@jakefwtx4214 oh god! I've seen some bad pictures. Luckily my tanks are in my "man cave", which is an unfinished basement so no one but me really goes down there lol
Pro tip- invest in a lock for your tank room door. Then check and double check your lock like you live in the ghetto... While my kids were toddlers, they were throwing their toys around and one of the toys made contact with the tank. It cracked and spilled water alllll over the floor. Had to replace the tank. A few months after that, one of my sons decided to dump his apple juice into the new tank... That was several years ago, and I've only just recently gotten the nerve to try keeping a tank again😂 Good luck dude, may the odds be ever in your favor🤞🍀
Blogger, I really like your video sharing, I have a company with an aquarium light product that wants to work with you to help us shoot an unboxing video, can you progress to contact?
i'd love to watch your vids but those sounds drive me BANANAS
I love hygger i have one for a 10 gal and one for a 20 gal long. I've dropped it in water and had no problem! Cool video!
They are really durable, which I would expect for the price haha! Thank you very much! Check out some others if you have time :)
What happens if you had a power outage? Does it remember its settings and timer?
No, you'll have to reprogram it if it's without power for some time.

Thank you!
This is the one they sent me, maybe I'll swing another deal for a smaller light lol

@@BobMossNanoTanks I also majorly let go of the team when they left for Vegas. Not the same.
for that sensitive touch, I feel you man I hate that feature too, I always prefer hard button
its the worst, just turned it off by accident lol

It's a love and hate light. I love the Hygger 957 👍🙂
Mixed feelings here. Had a power outage and the timer got all messed up lol
Go chiefs. Enjoyed info and sense of humor
Boo chiefs!

I liked the circus music that played while you scrolled through the lights… 😂🎪🤹♀️🤡 I laughed so hard. Good video 😄
Thank you so much! Glad I could make you giggle!
Tip about going to default light double click the light button and it goes straight to default light
Omg that's handy lol

the wattage and kelvin of the lights give you a good idea of the brightness and colour, though.

it's just your timer settings. play around with it until you get what you want,
