The Flood were a parasitic lifeform which infected the Halo galaxy. They would frequently coalesce into terrifying forms including graveminds and keyminds. - Розваги
I want a halo horror game where u play as a marine who got trapped on a flood ship or planet trying to escape
Fuck yeah that would be awesome
So dead space lmfao
@@pingus9934 no although dead space was awesome I want a halo one
So if not dead space, then DOOM?
@@galatay8381 I said what I said:)
Ancient humans were op af, they took on the flood and forerunners at the same time, could have seriously threatened the forerunners had they not been running from the flood
They were losing against both of them, but I get your point. Humanity fought through it and survived, the forerunners had to kamikaze the galaxy.
@@tharealchef2539 i believe the forerunners found out the humans were winning against the flood at one point but they didnt know how
@@deansmurf8366 it is explained in Silentium that they were doing just as well as anyone, slowly losing actually; but the flood realized the forerunners would win and destroy humanity, so they retreated to make the forerunners think driving the humans extinct was not an option. This is all because the precursors chose to give the humans the mantle instead, so they wanted their “preferred” creation to survive; even in their twisted flood logic
@@tbg3889 ahh yeah, I knew it was something like that, been a while since I read them, thanks for reminding me
@@deansmurf8366 Sure, no problem g
Remember. The grave mind has memories from centuries and centuries ago, from a small child to a sentient planet they've probably infected and stolen the memories from it. Think of all the souls trapped in the grave minds.
As well as likely the memories of long dead space gods
Probably remembers when fido had a good poop back in 88 too
@JoeBidenSucks You had me in the first half, then you had me laughing in the second half.
The grave for minds
It’s said that they have all the memories of the original gravemind including the precursor one , they just can’t comprehend the memories yet
I don’t know what’s scarier the grave mind as is or the fact that it’s voiced by Perry the platapus
What???
You say the same voice actor who just gerrrr is the voice of the grave mind?

So, what you're saying, is that the Flood can become, eventually, stronger than the W40K Tyranids?
Yes. Given time and biomass…..
That would be an interesting fight. I think the tyranids might stand a pretty good chance since they can easily tear through space marines, so fleshy, fragile flood shouldn't be too much of a problem
One crazy thing about Tyranids is they're not from the same galaxy and some believe they could potentially be running away from something even more menacing.
@@wrathin99 that theory never held much water though, right? I thought it was more agreed that they just wiped out their own galaxy and moved on to ours
I believe tyranids would beat the flood, not only only because they beat them in combat by a limdslide but because of theure abiloty to adapt, they are biologically inmune to every bioweapon, and even if they were affecyed they would become inmune soon enough
Well, the forerunners didn’t have a Master Chief, so we probably have a chance.
He nearly got infected btw
@@collindeden5990 nearly, but he *didn't*

And yeah, that would be cool
Forerunner/ Flood war ending with the Forerunners firing the ring, be a cool way to show the past, give you a new perspective and world/ era to explore, and both answer mysteries and create whole new ones. This and a horror/ shooter Dead Space-type Marines vs. Flood game would be lit
Liiike warframe
@@dmonsterlove The infested are pretty easy to counter in Warframe.
Prequels are always a good idea
The flood is canonically from outside the galaxy too. It’s an intergalactic horror
If that's so we should be getting more and more waves of unstoppable flood attacks
@@NateJGardner agree
Not quite. It's the ashes of long dead precursors that tried to regenerate but were corrupted after the forerunners genocided them. Only a few precursors made it to the Andromeda galaxy
@@lightmetro7508 ahh, so the precursors are the intergalactic ones and the flood evolved out of the precursors. That explains a lot about the flood's ability to hivemind without physical connection
@@NateJGardner They didn't necessarily "evolve", but mutate out of the ashes of the precursors. The ability to hivemind comes from the precursors understanding of "neural physics" (some halo lore term).
After 15 years of playing Halo, I never knew anything this shocking.
The flood could grow to conquer dimensions? 😳
The Halo rings need to fired if they come back in Infinite.
A universal threat that infects everything it sees and is hyper intelligent vs 1 lucky boi
Slipspace is a separate dimension. What he means basically is the flood can gain the technology to enter slipspace, making it unsafe to travel through lest they catch you and consume you there. They'd be using ships though. Initially anyway
@@horrificpleasantry9474 the flood created the entire universe and They made humanity and forerunners before being corrupted , they can legit manipulate the galaxy we’re in 😂
@@SuperFAILMC no, that's a lie. Sorry
no, that’s not even their final form. their true final form is to weave themselves into the fabric of time and space
In the lore it is extra-galactic
Forerunners decided to yeet the Precursors. Precursors fled the galaxy, some turned themselves into dust. Dust corrupted and became flood. Humans found it and used it, oh no zombies.
In 343i's lore, they are from outside the galaxy. In Bungie's lore, they are from within the galaxy.
@@Freelancer837 , they always were from beyond the limits of humanity
@@masterchiefpettyofficer1176 What's that supposed to mean?
@@Freelancer837the flood began in the galaxy but coming from the dust of precursors who existed beyond the Milky Way galaxy
Oh my gosh, I was playing halo CE anniversary and remember finding the terminal with the video of captain Keyes trying to remember who he was while he was infected, that was spooky.
I like how whenever people talk about the “key mind” they use the Brethren Moon from Dead Space.
I was going to say.....
Saaame I’m like das not Halo my guy. Let’s be honest master chief could probably solo a brethren moon lol.
@@TheIITroubleIIMaker probably not actually… Brethren Moons were a lot bigger than you think they are. Issac Clark was having extreme PTSD in Dead Space 2 just from a marker, which is basically the “weaker” version of a Moon. They can cause some major mental-scarring hallucinations, and bent the will of the entire human race. I’m sorry but Master Chief is still human, and in Dead Space 3 they had to freeze everything jus to put it to sleep… not kill it.
Bottom line: Master Chief would probably go insane, and if he suffers any injury that would lower his immune system in any way (even getting stabbed once) that’s game over because the signal being released would take him over instantly.
Master chief is cool and all, and he’s been seen doing some cool stuff, but there are limits to his abilities…

I mean it makes sense for them to be able to do this and change so much and have it out for the forerunners. Humanity was supposed to become the new leaders of the universe but the forerunners were mad and went on a mass genocide against the precursors (which is the flood after they mutated and weren’t able to go to their original forms) and then the flood decided to consume and merge all life so there’s only one free thinking and free willed being due to the forerunners jealousy and hatred towards humanity. All and all, the flood was evil, but doing so because they were betrayed

And this is the reason why I say the flood is the most scary zombie like enemy from any game, because they are super intelligent and most zombie games just show ravenous creatures just looking for their next meal.
I love how when they show a key mind they just show an image or video of the brethren moons from dead space
since there are no images of a keymind as far as i know that would be the most similar thing to one but IMO a key mind would be more powerful especially if it was an older keymind
Don’t forget that the grave minds and the key mind share all memories even after death
Imagine the amount of information encoded inside every flood dna sequence, maybe that's why oni was trying so hard to keep it around
It has always poked my curiosity, what if the flood, grave mind, key mind are the beginning evolution of the precursor form. We know the Precursors would deform into "dust" and from the point of view of the forerunners and prehumans, they believe the "dust" became contaminated. But what if the flood consumption of knowledge and abilities is how the Precursors began... 🤷♂️
Wow nice theory
Maybe that's how precursors multiplied because to gather knowledge and technology you need to have knowledge and technology to exist in the first place
That's one idea that's been hopping around inside of my skull.
When the flood becomes stronger than a Nokia cellphone
Theyve hit 6G
It starts off as a proto mind first
The Flood is one of a handful fictional creation concepts to frighten me. Because their true purpose in connection to the Precursors and life in the universe is still shrouded in mystery.
Some fan theories that make sense make them one of the patient, devious and dangerous creations in fiction.
Kind of like the backrooms.
Their true purpose was simply just to consume everything there was to consume. Luckily they never got to the stage where they started expanding into the multiverse
Hey emperor palpatine… can you make another Death Star… no reason…
In the Forerunner Saga, the Flood is literally just corrupted Precursor.
So they're the original holders and creators of the Mantle and Domain. And because the Forerunners based a lot of their tech off of Precursor / Flood technology, they lost.
That's why the Halo Array was able to destroy the precieved indestructible Precursor Star Roads. It's because the Rings are based off of Precursor / Flood technology.
Love the flood hope we get to see them again loved that halo wars 2 dlc cinematics
Sounds like the expanded story for what Shin Godzilla is supposed to evolve jnto
Cortana : there are worse things then the Flood.
Me : Cortana the Flood can literally return to being God's at their final stage.
That Irritated the Hell Out of Me, and it just Shows Me that 343 Do Not Understand the Flood on a Conceptual Level
@@oaktree149 The Flood isn't the only thing 343 doesn't understand. They somehow get every concept ever created in Halo incorrect. It's impressive if it wasn't depressing.
The flood are worse but the forerunners only gave the xalanyn aka the endless that title because they were afraid of losing their power. This was stated in audio logs in infinite. Also the xalanyn according to the Halo encyclopedia can manipulate living time thus connecting them to the precursors and the flood so I’d imagine they aren’t immune to halos rather just jumped toward through time to avoid the array firing as we see at the end of infinite chief gets teleported 3 days in the future assuming the harbinger opened the portal. The other connection to the flood is in an audio log that the harbinger quotes the Gravemind.
Next form of the flood that I made up, Killomind, Patient 0 who has grown so big, he made his own dimension.
Won't the flood be limited to the technology they're fighting against? so maybe they cant go to other galaxies or dimensions unless humans or covenant can do that?
Nah they are the ashes of dead space gods so I doubt they couldn't just build something
@@wookiewaffles1503 Ohh okay, thanks for the clarification. in new to the game and got just into the lore hahaha.
@@merrickc1876 As long as the flood collects enough biomass to create a gravemind that gravemind can remember all the memories of the precursors and since their tech was neurophysic based (basically scientific space magic) it can access all other tech and uses it.
@@wookiewaffles1503 put it perfectly, dead God dust
@@digitalninja5941 but not even precursors were able to do inter dimensional travel. It's a stretch to say they can.
Thinking about the Flood moving to other dimensions reminds me of a video where a guy hypothesised what would happen if the Flood opened a portal to Hell from DOOM, and compared the strengths and weaknesses of all the known Flood and Demon types, the intellect, etc., and after all of the detailed explanations the conclusion was basically along the lines of "As soon as the Keymind figured out the demons are infinite, too hot to infect, and that Hell is too hot to invade, it would just close the portal and try a different dimension"
The work that went into this short, made me subscribe. Thank you for actually making solid content on shorts, I'll be watching your other videos for sure!
Isn't there a theory where the precursors planned this because apparently they're a physical manifestation of the universe itself. Where it consumes all emotions and experience that every living thing has gone through. It sorta explains why those who asked precursors questions later committed suicide after getting horrific answers. Assuming it's true it turns Halo into cosmic horror.
That is one of the more frightening theories proposed by fans. A plan lasting billions of years spanning the galaxy. Imagine the galaxy being the last of billions waiting to assimilated only for it to end and begin again.
Ahh yes. The brethren moon keymind
That would actually be a hell of a crossover
Honestly
Just hell, really
That wouldn't be a hell of a crossover. That'd just be straight hell.
Conquering the universe lol. I always find it funny how people can't picture how vast the universe is.
And you think the primordial corrupted remains of space gods who created all life in the universe couldn't conquer it?
I like how the Brethren Moons from Dead Space showed for a split second 😂
The flood would probably evolve to be like us. Like normal people. I'd like to see that. The flood just sees a normal human and they like panic because they think a human is an alien lol
This is why I love the flood. It's the united biomass of all things if you dare choose to join it.
The Gravemind is my favorite character in the entire series. With the Gravemind we all can "sing victory, everlasting!"
Flood: "my main goal, is to blow up and ack like i aint no nobody avk ack ack"
I feel like the whole video was spent talking about the evolution of a gravemind then the last 10 seconds was the final stage

That speech he gives the arbiter and master chief is the best. Chilling
“And then eventually to different dimensions” Yeah, until they get to the hell dimension and meet the doomslayer XD
I love how your playing through Halo just to find out that Halo is a super weapon of Rings
They start off as Proto-Graveminds and they also somehow share information to each other. The gravemind that talked to chief and the Arbiter had knowledge of the past forerunner flood war
Whoooooooow that was a lot
I am informed😜😎🤙, awesome.
Is it possible that the destiny universe and halo universe can become one? Like somehow oryx comes back and takes the flood. And now in the next generation master chief dies and comes back as a guardian. And takes over the vanguard. I know ..I know. Lol I mean like come on . It basically looks like a worm God and the worms propagate by parasitism. So maybe 💁♂️
Why
The fact that the flood is worse than any zombie apocalypse anyone can think of.
I love the Flood so much, even after conquering the universe they would find a way to go to either an alternate universe or another dimension as you said just to continue to grow
Just imagine God as a zombie.
Space Dandy episode
@@orangefish0297 I fuckin love space dandy
I never realized how cool the flood was. But now I propose a discussion for the comments.
1: Zerg with the overmind. vs
2: tyranids from 40k plus a couple hundred years to show up for preparation. Vs
3: the flood.
Who would win?
Flood just infects one of each and has all of their knowledge combined. Easy
The flood just need a single spore the infection is instant and the fact that flood will an can assimilate anything even the pesky ones with the ability to adapt it doesnt matter once the flood controls one it knows everything genetically and can infect the rest no problem.
zerg gets shitted on by both, unless they kolekt enough esens to become somewhat like the xelnaga
nids win if the hive mind gives a shit/uses its psyker crap. Nids lose against flood due to reliance on synapse crap
flood wins in every long game due to unlocking their past memories with the gravemind
flood loses every short game
@Daniele Fabbro Exactly why they win every long game. But with the gravemind unfinished, the nids and zerg might stand a chance
By psyker crap I meant he hive mind (if i remember correctly) can do magical bullshit like defying the physics of space hell, and if space hell defies quantun farking physics... you get it, hive mind can do magic probably.
An interesting concept here, is if we think that the hive mind's mind is technically just a quantum computer, would the flood be able to infect it with a 'flesh and bone' computer virus style virus. Since most protein builds and muscles (presumably the nids work the same way as our current knowledge on bioforms) can technically be hacked with chemical reactions and dna splicing...
speaking of dna... both the hive mind and the flood are masters of it right? this is most interesting...
@Daniele Fabbro I wonder how "mechanical plague thats gonna kill us" like skynet would do against something like warframe's infestation, which is not as smart (but does have a sort of hive mind, albeit not fully controlling all the infested) but can infest both mechanical and organic creatures
The fax that the humans where fighting the flood and the forerunners for 1,000 years shows just how powerful they really were
I love how you showed the brethren moons from dead space for the keyminds which is funny because the necromorphs from dead space are like the halo flood
Thing is though the flood are precursor technology they were created by precursor to basically kill off the fourunner, because the fourunners didn't like that humans where going to be the next ones on top, once again all the problems in Halo universe can be avoided if you just let You humans takeover.
No no, the Flood are literally- (or were) the remains of the precursors, they had broken themselves down into dust so that they could effectively be immortal but got corrupted and couldn’t return to their original form, so they were forced to wait thousands of years maybe to float back into our galaxy and be discovered by ancient humans.
The final form of the Flood is called a Twitter.
More terrifying than anything you can imagine? It was a major point in last halo game that she was trying to release something worse than the flood and suggests that Atrox succeeds...
Yeah,, lets not bring up that load of horse shit.
CE managed to make the flood seem more like a threat in one level then infinite managed to do their entire campaign.
Why, because the showed us, instead of just telling us over and over again how dangerous they are!
The idea of the keymind essentially growing to encompass an entire planet is insane just imagine the amount of bodies needed just to get that biomass.
The flood will always be conceptually unique to me. Like, a virus that is also kind of transforming biological matter into funky fungus animals and shit and can become interplanetary and hive-minded and hopelessly intelligent and coordinated and shit and it all started with people giving their weird space camels some weird jazz stuff that made them cleverer and more affectionate and then they turned into the worst virus the galaxy had ever known like this is real
And yet still so weak it was defeated outright twice, meanwhile the Tyranids have successfully consumed multiple galaxies
Defeated outright once, I thought? A Keymind existed by the end of the forerunner-flood war, but not by the end of the events of the Halo games. Even then, they didn't defeat the flood, they only managed to kill everything else so it starved to death over Millenia, and even then some flood survived.
It was only a Gravemind during the Halo games.
@@decoded360 meanwhile the glory of the Hivemind has never lost and is currently speeding towards the 40K galaxy at massive speeds to kill everything
@@DCPTF2 but do they have to wipe out every living creature that has brain cells in their galaxy just to stop them?
@@wookiewaffles1503 yes and no, initially the flood would but then as all infections do they would adapt and figure out how to survive, like in Halo 3 when the flood figures out how to take over and use a covenant cruiser.
@@wookiewaffles1503 actually no, Tyranids only require raw materials to sustain themselves, give Tyranids a planet with the raw resource wealth of Earth even without the population the Nids would tear then planet bare of everything from the dirt on the ground to the very atmosphere itself, in fact killing off everything creature in the galaxy that can fight back is more a net gain for the Tyranids as they don't need to spend Biomass to acquire more biomass so every planet they leave a floating ball of lifeless rock just means when they do need to fight they can spend that net gain in it
When you remember the flood started off as a special dog bread
dead space god dust on dogs*
“Intergalactic flood stage isn’t real it can’t hurt you”
Unknown regions of space existing:
So what you're saying, is that the Gravemind from Halo, was exactly what The Master's existence was in Fallout, just increased drastically.
Forget master chief vs space marine I want flood vs tyranids damn
The fact that there were hundreds if not thousands of Graveminds during the Forerunner war is downright horrifying, especially considering they were only the second most dangerous creature the flood had to offer.
Spores man, you don't even see them coming, at least in the initial feral stages.
What scared me the most in this was " they captured me didn't they ?" While being consumed
A fanfiction where the Flood wins and conquers the universe, before spreading to other universes sounds freaking awesome
Hivemind creatures are so cool.
I want an asymmetical PvP Halo RTS/FPS hybrid, where it's a squad of spartans against a player controlling a protomind/gravemind
I’m not going to lie, an asymmetrical game where the Gravemind is playing an RTS or a “Bot switching” (like sending out units and being able to control each of them as you choose) game against the 4 other players.
Crazy potential, 2 Spartans, a brute, and an Elite walk into a derelict ship and have to survive it all against a single player, kind of like that old game “Evolve” if you remember it.
"The flood is far more terrifying than anything in any Halo game"
Well you don't got tell me twice. When I was a kid and played the game mode infected I scared the entire time. Watching my teams be swarmed upon and absolutely destroyed just for the rest to come chasing me.
I loved those days
The thought of a Keymind is just INSANE!!!!!!
bro the flood in halo 3 used to have my young self shivering timbers fr
My brain just... Pfft
Objective of the flood:
Become the galaxies smartest super computer
All because the Precursors got pissed.
I can see how the Duffy brothers took inspiration from halo lore for stranger things monsters
The real question is how a fight between the zerg and the flood would go
That would be awesome, but I would bet the Flood would win because they can assimilate any form into a form of theirs, but I don't know if that can be done with flood material/rotting corpses. I'd love to see this in action though!
As a fan of StarCraft's setting and the Zerg especially...
Zerg are supremely, absolutely, without a doubt, fucked
What makes the flood so terrifying on top of the gruesome body horror is how there really is no limit for them. They just keep getting stronger and more intelligent the more they consume until they are literally impossible to stop. Theres no telling how far they'd go after the galaxy. Maybe the universe or even beyond that into other dimensions or other universes
The fact that one Gravemind has a mouth shaped like the Ark just terrifies me…
I want a halo horror game where you’re an ODST being sent to some backwater planet to fight insurrectionists then suddenly the flood is introduced into the scene and you witness all of the horrors of a flood outbreak while trying to get off the planet.
It’s also interesting to note that once a flood outbreak reaches gravemind status they’re able to connect to the floods higher consciousness, meaning essentially the flood is omnipresent, a kind of living memory, like the domain. This is how keyminds communicate and coordinate across the galaxy, and it’s implied that that is how the gravemind spoke to chief even when he wasn’t on earth.
The flood is essentially eldrich horror. If a flood spore exists anywhere in the universe they’re sure to come back, and eventually they’ll consume all life in the universe
Flood: My main goal is to blow up and act like i don't know nobody 😬😬😬
Brethren moons...
I like how whenever someone talks about a key mind they show the video of a bretheren moon from dead space
Bro thought he could slip in a brethren moon 💀
And with its ability to manipulate neurophysics growing the more powerful it gets, it is in no way an understatement to call a fully conquered galaxy of Flood a God.
I always thought the brethren moons from Dead Space would be what a key mind would look like
Yeah people seem to forget that there were solar system sized flood worlds in Canon. Also some flood forms would descend down upon worlds like continent sized monsters. That's why the forerunners struggled so bad. And why humanity was so weakened.
“A single spore can wipe out an entire species.”
"Atriox is coming, he might not be as merciful as the flood."
so you literally fight an Eldredge God and John Halo like "shoot lazer go boom"
fun fact key minds can control space time its self and infext the very fabric of the universe
The scariest thing about the flood is that they're forklift certified
Translation, a Resident Evil style galactic apocalypse scenario.
Intergalactic Key Minds thats the pinnacle
Imagine we got a forerunner flood war game where u play as a forerunner general and it ends with lightning the rings
imagine in the next game a flood key mind from another galaxy comes into the milky way
Thats an AWESOME idea for an antagonist. Both man versus "man" but eventually starts to become man vs nature.
