Adrian, buy yourself a nice long woolly scarf, it's cruel being out in subzero temperatures with your neck exposed like that. We want to see your videos and your work for years to come!

excellent ! hit all the important issues ! especially the condensation which can develop inside the camera on the sensor as well, especially if you changed lenses while in the fog.

We only get fog here a few times a year. I try to keep a list of subjects I'd like to photograph in the fog ready to go, so I know where to go and what to shoot.

That was great. I have a lot of fog and i often shoot in it, but i'd really never stopped to break down what i'm doing specifically in relation to the phenomena. Your primer has served to wake me up. Lkd&Subd. All the best from a cabin in a swamp in a rainforest in Aotearoa-New Zealand.

Yeah, I wish we got more fog where I live, as I jump on any chance to photograph in fog (and the closest mountains are hours away by air). As you show, it's especially effective in woodland settings--I love it when the trees have different values depending on their distance from the camera, like at 13:51 (and water reflections are even more striking). You just can't reproduce that convincingly in post. It's almost a from of "natural bokeh" that, as you say, helps "de-clutter" the image. I've gotten some really amazing shots at night with light halos in the fog--even better in winter with snow and ice. BtW, I've been waiting for years for the right conditions to photograph a certain tree--I need a dense but shallow fog layer and enough sunlight from behind the tree to create a halo with shadows of the branches in the fog. That may never happen, but as is so often the case, just getting out there when the right conditions may develop greatly increases your odds of getting something even if you don't get what you're hoping for...
Sorry about your gear damage--I know how you feel, as just discovered that one of my favorite (and most expensive) Leica lenses no longer accepts filters (the result of dropping it--ouch)!

Fog and photos is like Fish and Chips. Always makes for a great image. One thing that fog really exaggerates is cobwebs. It can be amazing how much moisture sits on them, and if its cold, it can create a magical view of "cobwebery". Nice video sir. Thank you.

Hello, I just found your channel and watched this video. It is certainly one of the best introductions to photography in foggy conditions that I have seen. It is also, just generally, an excellent photography video. I like your honest straight style of communication, and your example images are superb, which also makes your presentation inspiring. I have subscribed and will check out some of your other videos as time allows. Thank you.

Fog happens in Toronto, usually at change of seasons! Minus 5*C is OK! It gets way worse.

Thank you very much for this excellent tutorial All my fog here was last week, not today, so will need to wait a while to see if I can improve on my usual, bland results. Great tips.

Lovely and inspiring shots Adrian. I too live in a place with lots of fog (but arguably lots of diversity for photography and all 4 seasons). Going to go shoot now in this December fog in the city and waterfront. Thanks for the video.

What a great idea of doing a fog video! I unfortunately do never have fog where I live (south of France, ok maybe once a year?), but at least this gives me precious information for eventual fog encounters in places I visit. The video was super complete, thanks so much !
(quick question about your memories in the fog book, do you think it will eventually be shipped from Europe at some point?)

Thank-you!! I was out recently on a hike with snow on the ground but warming ambient temperatures which gave lots of fog/mist. I immediately thought of your images and videos. I have to admit that I wondered about your exposure methods while shooting that day. I love winter trees and in fog they are even more beautiful. Question: One of the things I love about your images is your use of long exposures. I've been researching ND filters and am wondering about your thoughts on individual filters vs. variable ND filters. Also, what level of ND is necessary to get the smooth, creamy look of water that you get? I realize that depends on the brightness but in general what degree of ND value would you say is needed? Thanks again for all of your videos and for these tips. Have a great day.
