The minimum requirement for democracy of ANY type is political choice. Yet we in the UK find ourselves with the 'choice' between one neoliberal lead main party or another neoliberal lead main party or another neoliberal lead main party. Thus the public is conditioned to vote against the very slightest difference and not FOR what they want. The only way WE can obtain democracy in the UK is through proportional representation.

When there's coverage of elections abroad for not being "free and fair", it usually implies that the ones at home are "free and fair". In the UK, yes, most can technically stand for office, but unless you are content to be Count Binface you need serious political and financial connections to campaign at the level you'd need to even be competitive. Similar goes for the ability to vote; not everyone can even actually vote, such as prisoners. But even for the vast majority of adults that can technically vote, there still exist socioeconomic barriers, or just out right disenfranchisement caused by the two-party system. I think to presume a country has "free and fair" elections because of legal technicalities, without exploring the deeper implications, is extremely ignorant.

I have a much better question, how democratic are elections in the UK or the US?
Maybe if the BBC got their favoured candidate elected in Russia by the same election standards, they'd call them 'fortified' and the most secure elections in history
More than in Russia
probably more democratic than our country the UK 😂😂
Russian elections candidates should be..
Vladimir Putin.
Vladimir Putin with sunglasses.
Tracksuit Vladimir Putin.
Ice cream eating Vladimir Putin.
Shirtless Horse riding Vladimir Putin.
Piano playing Vladimir Putin.

As an American I feel for the Russian people. I just hope to see the day we become allies and no longer have to be told to kill each other.
That would quite literally never happen
Russia is as dehumanised as it is, they lost the narrative war
blame the US for that
@@blueciffer1653 i blame the people that don't move on for the greater good
Haha very funny, i lived in Russia nd im living in US trust me russians are wayy more happier
The minimum requirement for democracy of ANY type is political choice. Yet we in the UK find ourselves
with the 'choice' between one neoliberal lead main party or another neoliberal lead main party or another neoliberal lead main party.
Thus the public is conditioned to vote against the very slightest difference and not FOR what they want.
The only way WE can obtain democracy in the UK is through proportional representation.
BBC: How democratic are they?
Russia: Yes.
In Poland we still have free elections, but we're going the same route. In that authoritarian direction. Hungary is already done for.
the EU needs to do more to stop authoritarianism.

@@michaelahern6821 Hungary's Orban is using migrants, which actually aren't a problem for Hungary since like 2016, as a propaganda tool to take power for himself, and not allow Hunagrians to be free people. Corruption is rampant and wages are low. No freedom of speech.
What sort of propaganda are you watching that makes you blind to these things?

I mean it was either Putin or the Communist Party
You know, after living under authoritarian rule for about 20 years I couldn't see any other way for our country to move on. It's kinda the same when Romans abandoned Republic with 2 consuls system and started to crown one Emperor after another until their fall in 4th century.
The thing is that the Empire was actually way more democratic than the Republic, I'm not sure Russia will turn that way, unfortunately

Why did whoever is responsible for the making of this very important news clip decide to devalue the content and it's importance by empoying completely inappropriate frenetic film editing techniques and cut and switch camera views and angles virtually every two seconds? It's so unprofessional, it's totally off-putting and it makes light of such a serious subject!
I got the point this isn’t a film where what’s onscreen Is important it’s what they’re saying if your so troubled just listen with earbuds and put your phone down and it will be fine
There were 2 people who were PM, before Putin, but all 3 are members of the former KGB. Eltin was still president, basically the kgb tooked the power in Russia, and they began to implement the methods, used in stalinist times, to this day. Putin jokingly or not went to the FSB HQ and told them "mission accomplished", after his election as president.
you know your own democracy is a joke when you have to goat in Russia, who at least have the decency not proclaiming itself a 'democracy'

Don't. Be .Ridiculous..
Wait BBC talks about democracy🤦 maybe US elections were democratic😂
The BBC is the most undemocratic television so what's the point here
When there's coverage of elections abroad for not being "free and fair", it usually implies that the ones at home are "free and fair".
How one sided is this report?
100%
Gawd how do BBC even have the cheek to go there ???

Bbc means divide and rule take the t for granted 🤣
"Russia was full of democracy in the nineties. It was democracy that led the country to a huge abyss"
And how exactly is that fault of democracy? Russian problems were caused by the dissolution of the Eastern Bloc, fall of Soviet Union and defeat in Afghanistan, which resulted in economic crisis, wide-spread corruption and basically moral disintegration of its army. You can blame some of it on Yeltsin and his government, but hardly on democracy itself.

Changing of Russia is fine. The only question is - what do you want Russia to be transformed to. The goal needs to be clearly articulated. Also, who is paying for your activism is also very important, as in any other country. If you want to be an independent politician living on Western money, you will not be admitted to elections, and this is fully appropriate and fair. We don't need foreign agents in power, period.
