I still have my 1996 Honda VF 750c Magna, bright red. It is absolutely stock but I would like to swap the exhuasts. Yes. They should bring it back. Motorcycle sales are increasing every year after the Covid period. Until people get to realize what they really want & kinda "settle down" in their choices, Honda should grab the chance to board the "retro craze" train & bring back the Magna with EFI & not many electronics (ABS only is enough, no TC, no modes, no bs like that). Pure engine fun.
The Honda magna is a great bike, very powerful, especially given it's size, it'd hurt a lot of people's feelings on the drag strip I'll tell you that right now
My 95 Magna is Black and Teal. Its currently in the cycle shop for a part throttle miss. When it was running good and not popping and smelling like gas it was great!
Well, I ended up figuring the problem out. It was a bad suppressor cap on cylinder 4. Now it has a hesitation at 6500 rpm, like a "flat spot". Its better than a missing cylinder though. I can live with it fine. @@chasingredlineofficial
@@wherethereisfaith I'm glad you were able to sort something out! Once you pass that 6500 flat spot, does it take off after 7+? I've seen some dyno graphs that might support that as a fairly common attribute depending on how severe it is. Although many of them might suggest that slight drop would exist somewhere between 5000 and 6000. Glad you got it to a place you can ride!
Hello, Yeah, you only really notice it if you blip the throttle at about 65 to 70 mph. I'll have to check and see what the tachometer is showing at that speed to know for sure. I thought it was just the dynajet kit that was installed on it. the fuel needles were tweaked to fix the "bogg" at a lower rpm so yes, its probably characteristic. Once it gets past the flat spot it seems to open right up. @@chasingredlineofficial
For sure! I've done many trips on this bike. Although, I had a windshield and Mustang seat on it at the time. Chewing up miles is no problem for this bike.
@@MOUSEBOWEN I didn't have a problem and would take the Magna up to about 500 miles in a day. I never pushed it as far as I push my Victory which I'll done 1000 mile days on. This Magna does have a 1 inch lowering kit on it which compromises the rear suspension a bit but it didn't cause problems for me. Someone with back problems might have a different experience.
I have a 98 that I've been riding for about the same amount of time. It makes me hate the clutch on just about any other bike I've tried. I'll never let it go. Either it will die first or I will.
My first bike was the 1982 Magna 750. that came with the shaft drive. yours probably is a chain drive. It would be nice for Honda to bring it back with the shaft drive.
I really like the mods you made on your Honda, especially moving the controls forward. I am tall at 6' 5" and I tip the scales at somewhere between 270 and 280lbs now. I am also 67 years old. I would love to get a lighter bike for running close to home or commuting to work. The Victory Vision is great for longer rides, but cumbersome for a lot of stop and go. I have a 32 inseam and Mid controls are really not far enough out for me. I am considering an adventure style either Mid Range like the MG V85TT or a Super Tenere. Both would be quite a bit lighter and could double as a Touring bike. We have a lot of dirt and gravel in SD and while I have ridden it on the Vision, it is a bit dicey. I also need to consider whether I can handle a second motorcycle space wise since my wife has a Trike and both her bike and mine together doesn't leave much space. From what I can see your Magna could be a contender if modified like yours.
Thank you Vincent. The adventure bike category would probably be clutch in those gravel conditions. Definitely a different seating position than the Magna though. Putting the forward controls on it makes for a comfortable ride. Hard to beat the price tag on a Magna though for what you get. I see one out in St Charles on CraigsList right now for $2k with windshield and two-up Corbin seat and stock everything else. Stock pipes can be pretty quiet so would check your second touring bike if you wanted it to. If you want to cover distance, I'd recommend the seat mustang sells with it. I think some of my photos in the video have that seat on it. I used to fit my car and the magna in a single car garage so it can hug a wall pretty well if you need it to. The only downside for touring is no 6th gear. Let me know what you decide to do!
Hello there I too have one just like it with about 40 k on it runs good ...i also had a cm 450 custom before i picked the Magna up ..In my opinion Hondas are the best bikes out there my next one is going to be a Goldwing ,,,nice video i enjoyed it
Welcome to the channel! Love the magna. My dad had a 2001 Goldwing and rode that thing until about 2 years ago. Many fond memories riding next to a Honda Goldwing. That six cylinder engine is a monster on the highway!
I adore my 86 v45. Its a keeper. Ill never give it up! 13k mi on the clock. Need to add the dave dodge oil mod. But I keep it above 3000. Its a ton of fun to ride, the acceleration is estatic! Decently comfortable, suprisingly nimble. Mileage isn't too good for long trips with the tank size. (46mpg avg) but you dont get a magna for the mpg! Im not much of a fan with the 3rd generation. Dropping the overdrive gear I felt was a mistake. I don't think I would purchase a new magna however. Im not too much of a fan of black box ecu programming. Would rather have open source tech. Though i would be glad to have a future source of new motors to retrofit once parts become rare for these bikes. Thanks to this bike. Im hunting down a Honda Sabre v65. I honestly didnt know these bikes existed until I ran into one at a car lot. God bless the man that decided to shove a sport bike motor in a cruiser.
Hey there! Glad you are loving your v45. The bike has character and can serve you for many years. I'll admit that there have been many times that I wish there was a 6th gear on the 3rd gen. Typically when I'm riding 70+ mph on the highway for 4+ hours. That is when you really wish you had it. But, I don't ride it distance as much as I used to. That is where the Victory comes in! Safe riding!
I have a 95 VF750C with only 22000 miles on it. The only thing I don't like about it is the rear drum brake. Honda should have put discs on the rear. I have a forward control kit on mine too which makes for a comfortable ride, windshield and saddlebags. With the great gas mileage it gets, 50 mpg, it's my daily commute to work. I do wish it had a bigger gas tank too.
I do agree that the drum break would not have been a design choice I'd have made. Great daily commute bike! I do appreciate the reserve on the tank which I've tapped into several times. 95 was a good year!
I bought a 1999 magna and had a carb rebuild done because one of the carb floats was cracked, man the bike now rides like a Swiss watch! I would like a slightly larger tank as well, the milage on mine is about 43 mpg! On top end with the carb build, I get slightly over 125 mph! Man it gets there fast when rpm's above 7K! I paid $3600, with 8600 miles and $750 for the carb rebuild! I love this bike! I run 89 octane and full synthetic in mine, with a K&N filter!

Hey there, thanks for the comment. Interestingly enough, the sound clip in my video intro is from the Magna. There are no baffles on those pipes so it definitely is not a stock Magna sound. I'm planning to do more videos on the Magna this season so stay tuned!
Im going to go look at my first bike (hopefully) tomorrow 1998 250 magna. I used to ride dirt bikes as a kid but had to get a car for work. @chasingredlineofficial I didn't unfortunately, it had a lot of rust a nasty hiccup between second and third so I'm checking out a 2003 V-Star in a couple days I'll find the right bike eventually and join all the real warriors on the road
@chasingredlineofficial I've had my v star for a couple months now and I'm unbelievably happy with it. Loves the roads here and has been a very forgiving bike for a relative novice
i just got one for $1250.....few scratches here and there but it still looks decent. its not running but owner said it was ok when he parked it few months ago.....i hope its just the carbs....it only has about 7k miles so there should be nothing major
My last sport bike was a VFR750, which I replaced with a VTX1800 in 2002. Now, after 5 years of not riding due to health issues, I had to sell it. Of course my mind immediately started going over what to replace my 40,000 mile VTX with. With not a lot of money to spend, and my health being better served with a much lighter bike, my mind went to the Magna. That 750 V4 was lots of fun once it hit 7000 rpm. If I can find one in good shape, it may be my next and probably last ride.
Hey there, those are some awesome models that you've owned. I think the Magna would be right at home in that list. Luckily, I've found that there are typically a few available anytime that I search. Hopefully you can find one that has been well taken care of. Best of luck!
I actually sold it a while after buying the Victory. I had originally added the Mustang so my wife would be more comfortable. But now we take the Vic if she is with me. So went back to the Corbin. That Mustang was a very nice seat while I was touring with the Magna.
Mine has 60 k miles on it ....same chain and sprockets always well oiled ...Runs Best and pulls harder on 87 octane somethimg that took me ten yrs to figure out ...
They are actually a line of custom fenders that used to be made by Cobra. Google search "Cobra Magnafied" and you will find some information on what they were doing.
Hey Jon! What year magna did you have? They are traditionally mid-controls so you get that more aggressive riding position inspired by the sport or muscle theme. The original v45 and v65 largely being where that tracks back to. So was your bike converted to forward controls before you bought it or are you looking for something further back than the mid-controls that came stock? Thanks for tuning in!
@@chasingredlineofficial Might have been converted. It's a '98 but I went and looked at it after watching this and it looks like it may have been modded. Bolts don't match any others on the bike and there's odd branding on the extenders. Planning on trying to put them back next weekend. Never would have known if I hadn't watched the video, thanks!
@@jonbar140 Awesome man! I converted my own so I could provide you some pictures of what the original peg kit looks like if that would help you. Bought my first bike not to long ago from the old man down the road paid 300 for a 1984 Honda magna V65 1100 all I had to do was new fuel pump fuel lines and redo my tank fell in love with her as soon as my ass hit the seat and my palms touched her bars
Honda has a 1200 V4 that is in their vfr1200f bike. Remap and slam it in a big bad manga style frame and let it rip. Love the potential of a modern muscle cruiser from Japan
I've just checked my MPG, I have never checked before, it never bothered me , i have seen write ups that say 42mpUKg not US = 34.97 But I'm getting 95 mpg @ 3UK Gallons =31mpg = 25.82 US MPG So it seems I am giving it the beans all the time, I do have a nice sweepy 9miles stretch on my daily, that I rarely back off of 120mph though! (5am).
Thanks for the comments! Glad you like your ride. I probably average about 35mpg most of the time on it. Does depend on how I ride though. I understand on the mid control handling but boy are those forward controls more comfortable. Have a good one!
Doing what you stated would definitely get into the ballpark of what a new Magna could be while remaining true to the name. I hear the 1100 Rebel has quite a bit of pep as-is but I think they could do a 1-up with a modern v65 adaptation and get to a bike that someone could take the the drag strip and have a great time! Throw some crazy marketing in the mix similar to the magna commercials of ol'. I took a moment to listen to your Rebel 500 muffler chop. Sounded great! Thanks for watching!

Until people get to realize what they really want & kinda "settle down" in their choices, Honda should grab the chance to board the "retro craze" train & bring back the Magna with EFI & not many electronics (ABS only is enough, no TC, no modes, no bs like that). Pure engine fun.
Heck yeah man. I think there is a lot of value in getting back to the basics. Would bring the cost down too!
Ha! Hopefully you get it back from the shop and it runs like a dream!
@@wherethereisfaith My guess is you are probably sitting right at about 5000-5500 rpm at 65-70mph.
I agree. I'd buy it. I have a 2016 Victory Magnum and a 2012 Honda goldwing. My Magnum is a blast buy my goldwing absolutely gets it.
I bet! The power those Goldwings put out is pretty crazy.
I have owned two MAGNAS, Want a highway cruiser for a long ride. This bike will do it easy.
For sure! I've done many trips on this bike. Although, I had a windshield and Mustang seat on it at the time. Chewing up miles is no problem for this bike.
@@chasingredlineofficialhow is the suspension for long distance??
@@MOUSEBOWEN I didn't have a problem and would take the Magna up to about 500 miles in a day. I never pushed it as far as I push my Victory which I'll done 1000 mile days on. This Magna does have a 1 inch lowering kit on it which compromises the rear suspension a bit but it didn't cause problems for me. Someone with back problems might have a different experience.
I had one miss it definitely would buy another
Awesome! Safe riding!
I have a 98 that I've been riding for about the same amount of time. It makes me hate the clutch on just about any other bike I've tried. I'll never let it go. Either it will die first or I will.
I hope you get many years out of it!
The Magna had a sibling bike, the Interceptor, which also had a V4. I'd love to see that come back. Particularly the 1100cc variant.
My first bike was the 1982 Magna 750. that came with the shaft drive. yours probably is a chain drive. It would be nice for Honda to bring it back with the shaft drive.
Hello! Yep, you are right. The 3rd gen Magna is chain driven. I've always been a fan of shaft drive!
I couldn't imagine it being hard, they could parts bin the whole bike
Ha you aren't wrong!
Nice low milage piece.
have two v30's now getting back to riding would buy a new magna if they came back forsure and think many more would
Thanks for jumping in! Would be very interesting to see what Honda released as a modern Magna.
Great bike. Still own my first love, ‘94 red Magna but stript it like a bobber.
Awesome man. You should post some footage of that bobber magna!
@@roberthollenbeck6481 Great purchase! 125 mph is moving pretty quick! Should last you many years. Enjoy!
Beautiful bike! A yellow Magna is definitely on my wish list!
Appreciate it!

I’d love one.
So cool.

Awesome bike. I have a ‘95 46000 miles riding at 9000 feet. I’ve had it for 15 years. I’ll never sell it.
Thanks man! Sounds like you have a great bike that will give you many more years!

Do you have any clips with another mike? I don't know what a Magna is like irl but in this clip I don't hear the great sound discussed.
Hey there, thanks for the comment. Interestingly enough, the sound clip in my video intro is from the Magna. There are no baffles on those pipes so it definitely is not a stock Magna sound. I'm planning to do more videos on the Magna this season so stay tuned!
I've always liked them. They are just cool. v4 honda in a cruiser.
V4 engine is sweet would be nice in the naked bikes
Im going to go look at my first bike (hopefully) tomorrow 1998 250 magna. I used to ride dirt bikes as a kid but had to get a car for work. Now im in a spot where storage isnt an issue and I cant wait to ride very responsibly and never excede the speed limit (thats a joke for anyone who bristles, im 30 years old and very attatched to my skin)
That is awesome. Did you end up getting it? Be safe out there!
@chasingredlineofficial I didn't unfortunately, it had a lot of rust a nasty hiccup between second and third so I'm checking out a 2003 V-Star in a couple days
I'll find the right bike eventually and join all the real warriors on the road
@@TheDarkurthe Love it! Good luck in finding the right one!
Killer deal! Yeah 7k miles is nothing. Hope you get it running!
I’m fixing a 1987 700cc Honda magna I wanted something comfortable but I always wanted to be able to chase down and give sport bikes the finger
Personally I think a 4th gen would look great parked next to my "88" second gen...
I agree!
What you doing with that mustang seat??
I actually sold it a while after buying the Victory. I had originally added the Mustang so my wife would be more comfortable. But now we take the Vic if she is with me. So went back to the Corbin. That Mustang was a very nice seat while I was touring with the Magna.
Man, that would have been nice to get from ya. Great video!
@@blackwellpride00 Thanks! Yeah it was a good one for sure.
Mine has 60 k miles on it ....same chain and sprockets always well oiled ...Runs Best and pulls harder on 87 octane somethimg that took me ten yrs to figure out ...
Isn't it amazing how truly getting to know your bike is a journey? Sometimes things click even 10 years later! Thanks for sharing!
What’s the front fender off of?
They are actually a line of custom fenders that used to be made by Cobra. Google search "Cobra Magnafied" and you will find some information on what they were doing.
On what magna are the foot peels under foot? I wish I could put mine further back but I can't find any parts to do that.
You could at least tell what is original vs what was added. There are a few different ways to do forward control conversion and most of them are rip and replace. Reach out at info@chasingredline.com if you'd like to send me a photo of it.

Bring it back ...MAGNA 1000R all disc brakes .factory fly screen !!!
Honda has a 1200 V4 that is in their vfr1200f bike. Remap and slam it in a big bad manga style frame and let it rip. Love the potential of a modern muscle cruiser from Japan
Might be a good one to build from!
Yo what song is this?

Good eyes sir! Getting that great fall weather this weekend!
A fuel injected V65 would be cool.
Agreed!
o hell ya they should
I've just checked my MPG, I have never checked before, it never bothered me , i have seen write ups that say 42mpUKg not US = 34.97
But I'm getting 95 mpg @ 3UK Gallons =31mpg = 25.82 US MPG
So it seems I am giving it the beans all the time, I do have a nice sweepy 9miles stretch on my daily, that I rarely back off of 120mph though! (5am).
Thanks for the comments! Glad you like your ride. I probably average about 35mpg most of the time on it. Does depend on how I ride though. I understand on the mid control handling but boy are those forward controls more comfortable. Have a good one!
Put the V65 engine in the rebel 1100 and call it the Magna 1100 or the V65 Rebel
